Evolving the Publication Over the past year, covid-19 has put a real strain on the remaining team and we haven't been able to publish a new issue for quite some time. We don't have the writers we once had and my time and gmafogs time has been sliced up due to real life so we are unable to put out the content at the pace we used too.

Time... The one currency we never have enough of. These past couples of months have been crazy and chaotic. But they did give me a bit of time to reflect and think about all the things we could become moving forward. I have been thinking really hard about creating a wiki-lite system inside our Gaiscioch Magazine so we can develop game guides over time. Where we can outline features and add screenshots and build our very own Wiki-style site.

Moving Forward - Help Critically Needed Over the last couple of years our staff has dwindled to next to nothing. We have had a total of 10 authors this year that wrote 180 articles. 152 of those were written by me. Compared to 2 years ago where we had 219 articles by 14 authors. We currently have 4 active authors. We are in dire need of more content if we want to keep this magazine going and I simply can't do it alone.

Gaiscioch Magazine Targeting News360 for Next Partnership With our successful inclusion into Flipboard we've set our sights on the next highest news syndication service called News360. News360 is currently ranked #3 among the news aggregators. I managed to get my primary company added to News360 a few days after our inclusion into Flipboard so it shouldn't take long before we're feeding content into this platform as well. All of this means big things for our magazine as it expands our reach even further into the news space.

New Magazine Site Released After months of work, I finally finished it. The new magazine site is built for Mobile first, lazy loaded to speed up browsing and presents large colorful pages. It's our natural transition from a print style magazine to a digital platform. We now have a full Games list that can be browsed and sorted by types of games. I want to encourage everyone to head over to the new site and let us know what you think. The Livestreams section is epic. Have a look!

Magazine Meeting August 11th at 3PM Gaiscioch Magazine is actively looking for writers. We need people who like games enough to write about them. This is a great opportunity to support the community while building a portfolio of journalistic quality. Our articles are averaging over 1,000 reads for traditional articles and over 10,000 reads for guides and walkthroughs. It's also a way you can earn those Artisan points which go into your Family Honor Point and Family Vault Credit totals. Most importantly, we're running out of writers and if we don't find more soon there won't be much of a magazine left. We need your help. I can even hook you up with games sometimes for reviewing. If your interested in learning more please join us August 11th.

Gaiscioch Magazine Website Under Construction June is the month I planned to start the revamp of the Gaiscioch Magazine site to prepare for Issue 16's phased launch. Our new style of publishing will launch new issue cover stories every 3 months and will expand the content of that "issue" over the course of 3 months. The Table of Contents will grow as we move forward. We've put together an agenda for each issue that we will do our best to follow and fill the needs. Instead of the old method of browsing our site, we've decided to move to a more streamlined approach. Our new primary content sections will be:

The Road Ahead Next issue we move to our new Web Only view and will likely have a new web based layout for the magazine that will automatically generate based on the articles available. I have been prototyping some concepts using CSS Regions, Multi-Column Layouts and Flexbox. These are all very new tech and some browsers don't support them all yet. But I've always liked the cutting edge and have looked for a reason to create the next gen magazine experience so for the next few months I plan to reinvent Gaiscioch Magazine and how it works. Our next issue will be entirely distributed over time as the articles become available and automatically become part of the digital magazine that will be found on our site. We are targeting 1 Cover Story, 2 Feature Stories, Several Chapter Stories (Guides, Fiction, Interviews, Etc), 2-4 Previews, 2-4 Reviews, and 2-5 Life/Inspiration articles for each issue.

I Swear It's Almost Done This has to be the roughest issue i've ever made. It's been a nightmare. I've got more excuses than Kmart has blue light specials, but in the end the responsibility and accountability falls entirely on me. I just haven't made the time necessary to get it all wrapped up and done. I've been so bombarded by so many things I've let my commitment to the magazine slip and for that I apologize. Good news is we have a cover :D, and about 75% of the magazine laid out.

Issue 15 Coming in April The long overdue Issue 15 finally has a cover story! We are hard at work flushing out the issue. Keep your eyes peeled for the release announcement. This will be our last issue in the current format. Migrating to a new Format This has led us to decide to go straight to web and classify our Issues as Quarters. We will publish content direct to the site as articles come in and each "Quarter" will have an Issue with it's articles grouped together. Each Issue will still be browsable on our website for easy access to content but we will be ditching the magazine layout for a modern mobile friendly web layout. Combined with RSS Feeds, a Flipboard, and a quarterly email issue guide we hope that we can explore a new future of Gaiscioch Magazine.

Interviewapalooza 2017 So... We might have just a "few" articles this next issue. It is shaping up to be, quite possibly, one of our largest issues to date. Between me at PAX West and Screenager at Gamescom, we should have a wealth of new articles and videos about what's coming to the video games world. This year's conventions have been absolutely insane. I know Screenager’s schedule was packed so tight he barely had room for a bio break. My schedule is so packed I can't even see all the things I want to see during the event. There are so many great games on the way, and we're in for a real treat. Needless to say, keep an eye out for Issue 14 as it will be packed with the games you love, and the loves yet-to-be.

Help Our Magazine Survive! In the past I've put calls to arms to try to get more writers involved, but not much has helped. This past magazine had a total of 5 authors. The majority of the stories were written by Ed and I and this pace is not going to allow us to survive long. If we want to keep this magazine going I need a few people to volunteer to write 1 article, guide, review, preview every 3 months.

Looking for Beat Reporters If you would like to join the team, now that we have a better homepage for content presentation, I will be trying to recruit some people who like to write hot stories about news in the industry. These will not be for the magazine itself but fast tracked directly to the website. Occasionally we come across things that need a faster turn around than the next issue and we want to have a team able to produce and schedule these articles for release on a faster pace. In addition it would be nice if we could publish a brief on the website and a larger article in the magazine covering multiple briefs. There are a few new columns I would like to launch and would like at least 1 dedicated writer who is passionate about the topic to cover the stories and monitor the news.

Gaiscioch Magazine Year In Review Can you believe this next issue marks our completion of 2 years of publishing Gaiscioch Magazine! It seems like yesterday that we started this fun little project and it's grown so vast. We now have a developer contact list of over 40 major players in the industry. Gaming studios are now supplying us game keys for reviews and so many developers continue to support and advise our magazine even after we've published articles featuring them. It's opening so many new opportunities we've never had in the past and making introductions that otherwise were impossible.
