Qai Posted a Guide: Role Play 101: Emote Crafting
These were originally written while role playing in WoW, but all of the general concepts and advice still very much apply. Even if you've been role playing for years, there are some things in here will likely help you develop even further.
While I take no credit for writing this guide, I cannot actually name the person who wrote it. It is a handbook that has been passed around for a little over 9 years now, the authors have changed (or at least user names) many times over. Though I thought it would be good to share for those who do actively or are interested in role playing...

Qai Posted a Blog: Macro How-To
(shamelessly stolen from Telarapedia as there were quite a few who could not find it, just posting here for easy access.)
A macro in the context of video games refers to a set of instructions that can be issued together with one input or "hotkey." Rift supports macroing via an in-game menu. Opening that menu brings up a panel with a list of macro slots on the left, and the macro fields on the right. It is also possible to open the macro menu by entering /macro in the chat. You can give your macro a name and select an icon for it...

Qai Posted a Guide: Role Play, what does it mean?
As I travel the world of Telara I come across a variety of people, their personas, and there really are a lot of great people on this shard, Role Players or not. One common question I get from people who are new to Role Play is, "Qai, what does RP mean, and are there rules?" So aside from just pointing people to Google and wishing them luck, I thought I would share a little information with those who are curious but do not ask.
What is Role Play?
A role-playing game (RPG) is a game in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting...

Marmar Posted a Blog: Marmar's Field Journal: Entry 3: Soul Searching
Marmar growled, her face covered in blood as it ran from the slash to her forehead. It was getting harder to see and the planar invaders only grew in number. A wave of fiery raptors, dragonians, and elementals rapidly seared the flesh off her body. It was too much at once. Several blades across her back. Fireballs left and right. Her staff shattered in charcoal. They would not cease until the High Elf was torn apart, limb from flaming limb.
Marmar sighed. She was dead again, and she didn't like it...

Sri Posted a Battle Recap: Drowned Halls under Kool's leadership
This was my first assault with Kool. Seems he has similar problems that we had faced when trying to get the troops to check their calendars or missions and arrive at the correct time. Had some time to chat with the others beforehand. I recognized Prissi, though we've only corresponded through mail previous.
Kool ended up getting a lot of mercenaries for this assault, but two of them were from my own Family. I was happy to see them, but they were both subdued. I found out after that Illiase was not having a good night...

Sri Posted a Blog: A very early morning
We had just cleared the altered plane of Earth encroaching on the desert of the far south the night before when I felt the call of duty once more. It was not a far ride from home to the Northwestern firesand desert. There I came upon a group I've hunted with before, several months back.
Normally I am uneasy around so many Guardians, but I have found at least in these, the desire to save Telara outweighs their hold on Vigil. We worked together to ensure the rifts were closed and the recruits still new to their training were kept safe...

Qai Posted a Blog: The Nightmare
As the sound of lightning crackles in the near distance, Qai feels the tickle of electricity in the air. She sighs heavily as she watches the shadows dance across the cave's wall, hoping sleep would find her sooner than the storm arrives lest she finds no rest for the night. The stone hanging from her necklace begins to glow a dark red as her eyes grow heavy. Qai's last thought is of the bauble she is designing as she drifts into a deep slumber.
"Qai.. wake up." A rasping voice whispers in her ear...

Marmar Posted a Blog: The Wandering Assassin
A walking contradiction. That's Avaliana's favorite description of herself. A hardened High Elf born in Silverwood but raised in the heat of Fortune's Shore. Hailing from a wealthy trading family, her father was a skilled sourcestone merchant while her mother's potionmaking made sure they always had food on the table. All that wealth did little to sway Avaliana from mingling with the lowly gangs of the city's back alleyways. She learned to be clever, to be cunning, to be deceptive. She became known as an avid pickpocket and thief in general, only to sell the stolen goods legitimately through her father's connections...

Craythur Posted a Blog: A Prodigal Son
It's been over a year since I last ran with the Tuatha. After my disillusionment with EA/Mythic and the future of Warhammer I followed a handful of the family to LoTRO. I enjoy Middle Earth. I think the level disparities within the group were our undoing. By the time we were all the same level Rift beta and a new edition of DDO pulled most of us away. I played a bit of the Rift beta myself. The game didn't hook me enough to play at launch. So we came to a parting of the ways.
I briefly dabbled with Cataclysm...
