It seems to be a Gaiscioch Tradition, we managed to stumble our way into the bottom seed of the playoff structure following a season riddled with injuries. At the start of the playoffs our new Quarterback Tyler Murphy led the Gaiscioch to a massive victory over the number 2 seed. The bad news was Tyler wouldn't be able to play in the championship game, passing the QB position back to me. I had been avoiding the QB position for a few months as I have been recovering from a shoulder and elbow injury.
In the downpouring rain the Gaiscioch and I took to the field for one last glorious battle. As you may remember the Fall 2017 Championship Game we won by 1 point on a 4th and goal last play of the game from the 5 yard line after Thiago managed to sack their QB. The time before that I became the team's Quarterback after the teams original QB decided to not show up for playoffs. We ended up winning that championship by less than a touchdown as well. Gaiscioch has a long history of taking the victory to the last play of the game. This season was no different as they scored the winning touchdown on the last play of the game, with 4th down and goal and no time on the clock. As I stepped back to throw the pass was tipped and Jamie dove to catch it keeping his feet in the endzone (which is how this league decides if it's a touchdown. Most leagues are based on where the ball is, this league is where the feet are. I know weird right?)
This championship marks the 3rd Championship in 2 years since I took over the QB position. Tyler Murphy has been such a huge part of the team that we've decided to split our competitive team into 2 having Tyler helm QB on Gaiscioch (Green) while I helm QB on Gaiscioch Dubh (Black). We have grown and players continue to want to join our ranks and it was time for our family to grow into 2 teams. We are aiming at the B and C leagues for our teams this next season.
