Guild Wars 2 Beta 3 Weekend Server: Sanctum of Rall

Greetings Everyone,

Martin from ArenaNet wrote me this evening and informed me that they would be deticating a server in memory of Roger "Oldroar" Rall under the name "Sanctum of Rall". He also said it should be ready for Beta Weekend 3. So IF it's there thats where we will call home for the next decade. We'll see you there!

Sanctum of Rall of course. That is awesome news.

Can we speak of this to others outside the family? I have a ton of friends that plan on playing GW2 and I'm admittedly kind of excited to share this with them.

I can't wait and I am so excited that the Gaiscioch family was able to accomplish something that brings a lump in my throat and tears to my eyes. I look forward to this chapter and many more! Foghladha, you had mentioned something about creating a bound book for OldRoar's family. Would you want to include letters that we wrote to Anet? Just tossing out ideas.

Rusted, that's an awesome idea! I still have a copy of mine if it's needed.

That would be a great idea Rusted :). I don't have many screenshots of oldroar so I plan to add anything written I can. Can you all please email bfoley@gaiscioch.com with your letters and I'll put them together.

Awesome :) Although I didn't meet Oldroar (I joined the family shortly after his passing), I have heard and read many stories about what a great person he was. So glad to hear ANet is going to honor him with a server :) Just prepurchased and am downloading client for BW. I will see you all there, cannot wait for the weekend :)

Unfortunately I never had the pleasure of meeting him. This is an incredible accomplishment and tribute. It speaks volumes for all those involved to make this happen. I will be very proud to call the "Sanctum of Rall" my home.

We are proud owners of http://www.SanctumofRall.com/ I will be putting up a community site like the Gaisicoch site for everyone on Sanctum of Rall to use and interact. We will turn this server into a PvE, PvP, Roleplay, Crafting, and Casual Gaming titan.

Now we have our very own website? This will truly be EPIC!

P.S. Notice Eternal Grove got canned? LOL. Good thing we got our server :D

I have been proud to be a part of this family in WAR and in Rift and excited for GW2. I am nearly speechless at this news, however. I was deeply saddened, as we all were, by Old's passing, and I am deeply moved by Ben's passion, Gaiscioch's outpouring of support for and Arenanet's heart...all of which combined to make this happen. For the Sanctum of Rall alone, Arenanet has secured my patronage until they shut the doors on the franchise. I can think of no better place to call my gaming home than the Sanctum of Rall with my Gaiscioch family. I have no words. Truly. Oldroar's pal, Giamo Casanunda

Well a huge high five to Arenanet and all you awesome folks who sent in letters too! But now I wish I could be there for the tribute night.lol No pre-ordered game though. Blah. At least I know where to go if/when I can buy the game.

This accomplishment demonstrates the high level of esteem Arena Net held for our friend, and for the efforts of Fog and the other members of the leadership team. This is great news on many levels: 1. I just joined the guild, but this seems like an incredible way to honor a member of the family. I'm not surprised because this guild is extremely professional and classy. 2. You have to love Arenanet. I can't think of any other game that would go out of it's way to do something this meaningful for it's community. This is a wonderful sign of how Anet treats the people that play their games. Two thumbs up for Anet. This just makes me more excited to play the game with you guys and a humbled by the love being shown by this guild and Arenanet.

A wonderful way to pay homage to a fallen family member! I second the other posts about Anet winning my patronage until the last server is shut down.

Amazing news. Thanks to everyone who sent letters. This made me cry!

Just wanna add that I'll be around for doing a RP'd lesson on elemental magic. (Tips and tricks for Elementalists). I'll always announce when and where I do it so that I can get some, "students".

Amazing job Fog. I really miss Old sometimes, and his voice too. It'll be wonderful to have a memorial. PS, I'm in crunch mode at work this week, and didn't get to the letter writing yet. So I tweeted a thank-you to @GuildWars2. I checked the Facebook page too. There's no post about the server list yet, but if one shows up I intend to reply with a thank-you note there too.

Wow! I know a lot of folks have worked very hard to achieve this. I'm certain that Gaiscioch's perasance in guild wars 2 in any form would have been a powerful tribute to Oldroar, but to have his name up there for members new and old and all the world to see. It's going to bring a new meaning to server pride, every victory, every battle will be a tribute. Congratulations! I'll have to kick things into high gear for the next cookie blitz as thanks ;)

Absolutely awesome. It's things like this that make me want to stay with you all for a long time. In all my years of playing MMORPGs, I've never once come across a group of people with this much passion for the games they play and the people in their community. When Alake told me about this last night, I was blown away. Amazing way to honor a fellow gamer and friend's memory!
