The Evolution of the Elder Role

For years we've kept 1 Elder per active 100 people. As our population has reduced since we began playing games that limit population we've decided to up this to 1 Elder per 50 people. This gives us more coverage per elder and keeps our current elder team intact.

Additionally I have decided to add some focus to our eldership team. I have outlined several focuses where Elders can help keep the family running smoothly and relieve some of the burden from the select few who have been trying to carry the whole thing. The various roles include but are not limited to:

  • Roster Managers - To process invites / removals
  • Marketplace Manager - To approve new recipes, add new ingredients and plan new developments.
  • New Player Development - Introducing new players to the Gaiscioch Way and being a positive light in the world.
  • Social Media Managers - To aid in managing Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and provide support for livestreams.
  • Reputation Managers - To help monitor forums, social media, and in game communication to make notes of positive and negative feedback and help build a plan to address it.
  • Proofreaders - To help proofread content for newsletters & website.
  • Server Relations Manager - To act as a liaison between Gaiscioch & server communities.
  • R&D - To help research new title, build relationships with development teams, and identify trouble areas in potential titles.
  • Family Historian - To help chronicle the history of our family, share the Gaiscioch story to others, and teach new members about our families ways.
  • Resource Manager - Help manage vaults, data entry, and process prizes for contests.
  • Public Relations - Assist in family meetings, post constructively on public forums, and help manage the image of Gaiscioch. These members will be very public facing.

These new focused roles will allow us to spread the load across all of the elders and ensure that each elder is contributing to the overall success of the family. I will be building out some tools to help each of these roles streamline processes and gain the ability to help me keep things updated and current. In preparation for these new systems we decided to bring on 2 new elders with specific specializations.
