Craythur Posted a Blog: Taking time to smell the (blood soaked) flowers.
I'm here for the ORVR. Anyone reading this blog knows that by now. Having said that, I sometimes miss picking flowers. Gathering flowers & Mining ore in that Other Game was something I always enjoyed. On occasion I find myself standing around in WAR wishing I could go gather things while everything was locked down by a city fight, T2 nights, or Dungeon run evenings. It would also give me something to do when I'm on the phone and can't really focus on killing players in the face(tm), healing killers, or beating up scripted PVE dungeon mobs/bosses...

Seabhran Posted a Battle Recap: Unbelievable Defense!
When we saw the first Destro running to our door at our newly claimed and upgraded Stoneclaw Castle, we knew we would have a hard fight. Destro has been roaming the battlefields with big hordes of caothic warriors, and we expected them to come in big numbers as the defense ensued. And they did. The first wave was not big, and it was too easy to repeal. After some minutes of fighting at the doors, we did a succesful push and Destro was sent running back to their Warcamp. And while we waited for the Dtick, we wondered if they would come back in real numbers this time...

Craythur Posted a Blog: Looking forward to something new.
The Warhammer forums & blogs are are lit up like a Christmas Tree over the bits and pieces of "RVR Pack" news. While the general handling of the release info could have been better it's great to see news about the games future coming out. Happily, there does look to be a future! It sounds like one of my Warhammer wishes are coming true. I think. Sort of. Details are a bit vague. Skaven will be playable in some form or another. Mythic has said more about how they won't work (you won't be able to level them from t1 for example) then how they will work...

Craythur Posted a Blog: Craythur's Craw: Dungeon Lockout Timers
And now for something completely different. In keeping with my grumpy reputation (I'm roleplaying! Really! lol) here's a Warhammer Mechanic I find difficult to swallow. Dungeon Lock Out Timers. Specifically, lock out timers for instances that are not end game instances. Given the gear gap between fresh forties and long time veterans would it really be game breaking to let folks kill Crypt/Tunnel bosses once every 24 hours? Once every 48 hours? You still have to be lucky enough for your class drop to, er, drop...

Celebtyr Posted a Blog: A long, long time ago, in a server, far, far... dead... ;)
Well hell... seems like forever since release eh...? Celebtyr is the re-encarnation of my very first char, Anarion (yeah, name filter bugged out and let me get away with this name :) on the long dead Ulthuan Server. It was kinda fun, though more frustrating than anything else. Destro was overpopulated, and we always had at least a 3:1 ratio on ORvR lakes at all times. Nonetheless, i've kept trying, eventually making it to 40. Then... what happened? Nothing. At all. T4 in Ulthuan was pretty much dead, several of the dungeons, instances, etc, etc, etc, didn't exist, and, given the completelly inbalanced demographic distribution between factions, most people started quitting, my old guild, Shadow Dragons among then...

Vampiresbane Posted a Blog: Giving “A Warm Welcome in the Nick of Time”
Boy it seems like eons ago to me when Craythur and I met. Arguably in a way it was the real “beginning” of my Warhammer career. I had previously played Destruction on a different server as a 40 sorceror, got so angry once I had found myself doing pve to get gear to pvp that I quit. I had done similar things in WoW and had vowed never to do it again. At the time, most players were doing Bastion Stairs and the various city dungeons to get geared up. The thing that set it off was that I had signed up earlier that week to join 5 others to do a dungeon at 6pm PST...

Seabhran Posted a Battle Recap: We fought!
That was a hard battle. Destro outnumbered us 5 to 2 and dominated the battlefields with iron hand. We fought valiantly to grasp at least some objectives and take some keeps, that could not be defended from the locust swarm of Destro that smashed at our doors moments after we captured. Many a time we stopped and gave them fight, but that was only for the glory of it. Most of the time these were battles we couldn't win. But we fought, ahh, we fought as if there wasn't another day to come. But there is another day! Battle for Badlands T2 is about to come...

Craythur Posted a Blog: A Warm Welcome in the Nick of Time
My return to WAR brought me to Phoenix Throne thanks to The Cotcast (now Multiplaying) crew. A planned server wise T2 Dwarf vs Greenskins convinced me to play here even though the podcast folks moved away from the game before I reactivated my account. This time around I was on my own. I had no friends to socialize with, no guild, and no real plan other than to see what had changed and try the game from another faction. I rolled Craythur and hit the ground running. I had decided to play a healer again to ensure I would have some group utility...

Bogron Posted a Blog: Down but not Out
I will be away from War for 7 to 14 days. A bad Thunderstorm went thru my town and Burned up a piece of my Wifi Link equipment. So as soon as this replacement comes, I will climb a 115' tower replace it and then will be back up and killin Destro! Good luck hunting..

Donaliam Posted a Blog: An oRvR Night That Wont Be Forgotten
It was the Battle for Badlands Season 3 kickoff. It was in tier 1 and it reminded me of what oRvR was like when the game first launched. Just masses v masses or as most call it, zerg v zerg. The whole night was a tug of war. Order would push and take everything, then destro would push. What was really fun for me was going through alt-itus and twink-itus. I switched between 4 different characters last night just for the fun of it. Started with a Knight, then went to a Witch Hunter, followed by a Shadow Warrior then ending the night with a newly created Bright Wizard...

Korzak Posted a Blog: Keep it in the Circus!
Ran another successful Lost Vale this Friday and Saturday. It's very good to be able to pick up a new person or two and still make it through the whole thing. This week we subbed in Docroc for Vampiresbane, and ran him all the way through it, and it was his first time in the dungeon! We only did the left and right wings on Friday night, cause a few of us were about to fall asleep at the keyboard. It was a little rougher than our last pass, but we made it through, and got a couple pieces of gear in the process...

Donaliam Posted a Blog: Belts, Belts and more Belts.
I often wonder how many times can one person receive the same loot out of a gold bag. It's happened many times before way back before medallions were around to buy the armor pieces. I have to say, 5 warlord belts in a row just seems a bit much, but that is OK. I am still having fun playing and I know my luck will change soon.

Craythur Posted a Blog: From David to Goliath and back to David again.
From David to Goliath and back to David again. Or: Northrends charms could not hold me long. I had canceled my WAR account and retired my squig herder. I then caved into pear pressure (much of it from my wife) and returned to Warcraft. The timing of Wrath of the Lich King was no accident I'm sure. It was perfectly positioned to steal the thunder from Warhammer and devour anyone on the fence. Whether this was great timing on Blizzards part or a spectacular blunder by EA is perhaps irrelevant. Northrend, the new continent at the center of the new WoW expansion, was visually stunning...

Korzak Posted a Blog: A Sovereign Cloak! . . . again
I'll start out with the good news that sounds less like the tantrum of a young child. I'm no longer alone in the Gaiscioch at rank 80. It was fantastic to see Craythur finally hit the mark, just a couple weeks after myself. I was starting to get lonely! WARNING: THIS BLOG MAY SEEM MUCH LIKE A RANT. THAT'S BECAUSE IT IS! I suppose that I've been putting in alot of time on my other higher rank alts, my Rune Priest is 42 and my Engineer is now 50. I suppose I've been staying out of the city quite a bit on Korzak...

Seabhran Posted a Blog: Two more for the "family album"
Today was a busy day for Seabhran in PVE and Scenarios. She had to take her time taking advantage from the item she got from the Talabec Event. So, despite she wasn't able to attend to the Tuatha affairs earlier, at least Seabhran got the time to fight some battles and kick some Destrution heads. After a long night of battle and glory, one needs to relax a bit. In her leisure time Seabhran likes to play some music... as almost all Shadow Warriors. These are some pictures of her taking some time to rest at Bitter Woods camp, in High Pass...

Craythur Posted a Blog: War Was everywhere! Or riding the wave of hype, expectation, and good will.
What do I say about War's launch? I look back on those days with bittersweet memories. I rolled destruction on Uthuan with some friends from Warcraft. That sounds simple enough. There was plenty of hand ringing over which faction to play. In the end, we went with side that excited us most visually. Picking a server was no easy task. Everytime we had a consensus the server list changed or news from a huge zerg guild made us doubt our decisions. Some of us had beta/headstart status which affected our planning...

Seabhran Posted a Battle Recap: We almost flipped it all again at T2
After Foghladha's glorious Trinity event, I got lead of the rags of one of the WBs. We rebuilt the WB, made an epic defense of Mandreds, then went on to retake Empire lands BO's (until we got a lock there), and then locked Elf lands again by making PQs. We tried to lock dwarf, but met strong Destruction opposition at Barak Varr. We managed to take Fangbreaka, Tomb and Goblin Armory, though. I passed on lead to one of the members because I was already too tired of the day. But everyone at the WB was very happy about our campaing...

Seabhran Posted a Battle Recap: Seabhran's first campaign
This one was the first WB led by Seabhran at T4, and at the same time was the first WB led "officially" by Seabhran after finishing her Faolchú training. Still have a lot to learn but... hey!... We locked DW with 70 VP (due to underdog). =)
