Foghladha Posted a Blog: Impressions PvE vs PvP servers - Note to Players, Both have lots of PvP
There's a lot of misunderstanding going about and I feel that perhaps I can shed some light on it. I've been playing a while now on both styles of servers. Both servers types have PvP. And no im not talking about Warfronts.
My PvE Server Experience
At level 15 I swam my way to the island with the tower on it which links Freemarch to Silverwood. I ventured over to the hostile territory to see just what PvP would be like on the PvE servers. Within 5 minutes of arriving in hostile territory I had my first fight with a couple Defiants...

Morreion Posted a Blog: Memories: Fins Groups in Hibernia DAoC
[center]Fins Groups were the Hibernian right of passage in the classic days. When you were level 40+, you generally did the Coruscating Mines, the further reaches of the Bog of Cullen, a Darkness Falls group (if your Realm owned entrance rights) or the Cursed Forest. This is where the dreaded finliaths spawned, in groups of 3 to 5. There were 3 camps to choose from, and were called by what was in proximity to them- wall fins, log fins...not sure what the other was called. River fins?

Gellor Posted a Blog: Chords in the Rift (RP Intro)
Five sharp notes carried out over the lake.
Born of an aged and antiqued mandolin they were. The notes seemed to hover for a moment over the water’s chop, stirred by the zephyr, before dissipating into echo and the wind’s deep whistle.
By the lake’s edge, under a stout and rough-barked tree, sat the man who cradled the instrument as if it were a slumbering child. His face was yet young, if the still-smooth features and the thin beard were to be trusted, but a few strands of grey had crept into his forelocks, and his fingertips were well calloused...

Clanorton Posted a Blog: battle of wallenber a clanorton story
Year 2527
Journal entry 14
Battle of Wallenberg
Tis been 6 years since the fall of my home, the great mining for of Kalazed. The survivors of that battle in the deep confines of the World Edge Mountains are few. Only 1000 of the clan Orton made it out and few hundred of clan oaken shield are left, clans firebrew, ironpike and the mighty stonebreaker clan are all destroyed. The survivors are reduced to selling there crafts to men of the empire. The manlings knights of the order of the broken sword have established a new chapter house in the city of Kislev since theirs in nantook was destroyed when the orcs took Kalazed and destroyed the town of nantook below the fort...

Foghladha Posted a Blog: The Evolution of MMO
There's been a lot of debate over whether RIFT: Planes of Telara and Guild Wars 2 are "Next-Gen". Many have ruled them out completely claiming their carbon copy MMO's. We'll lets take a closer look at these two upcoming titles and see what's under the hood.
PUSH vs PULL
In WoW, DAOC, EQ, WAR, Etc. The main system is built on the idea of a world which a player lives in. You play a side story in bigger picture. When you log off nothing changes, nobody misses you, the world is the same as when you were logged in...

Korzak Posted a Blog: All Aboard the Rune Priest Renown Train!!
Korzak (the dwarf of Iron Breaking fame) is now renown rank 82. Finally. It's taken quite a bit of time to progress from 81 to 82, but mostly because I havn't been playing Korzak very much. That's not to say that I've not been active, no, I've been more than active. I've been chugging along on my Rune Priest, Lorkig.
The crazy rate of renown gain from the progression pack, coupled with the crazy rate of renown gain from out of group healing with a dash of crazy AAO bonus is, well, crazy. The Rune Priest is a very active healing class, with lots of options for out of group heals, which makes them perfect for the keep defense/assault/warcamp skirmish leaching...

Jonzac Posted a Battle Recap: Most excellent Ted...Most Excellent Bill
Another great night in T3 under a T3 siege night runs by The Gaiscioch Family. I started late on Saturday and quickly got into one of the two warbands we were hosting. I was in a Dwarf then Elf zone lock. Not much to say about those as most of Destro was in the other lands locking those down.
Finally, we managed to get together in Empire. Order arrived with Destro having Stoneclaw at four stars and our keep, Passwatch, at zero stars and the inner door under attack. Foghlahda ran his warband to Passwatch, hitting Destro from behind and saved the keep with the inner door at 13%...

Jonzac Posted a Battle Recap: T2 fun and excitement
Finished another guild night, the T2 Seige Night run by the Gaiscioch Family. We are all still figuring out the best way to hold and complete in 1.4, and last night was no different. Personally, I feel that 1.4 has hurt the ability of a smaller force to hold out against the odds. The inability of smaller warbands and groups to adequately defend keeps has led to the "round robin" effect in zones. Order will push Empire, while Destro closes Dwarf. They meet briefly in Elf until one side realizes they can't roll the other side...

Craythur Posted a Blog: Twitter
Oh I haven't forgotten this blog is here. I've been meaning to post despite the fact that I've given up on Warhammer for the moment. I could post about Our Lord of the Rings Online antics I suppose. Maybe next time.
I've recently overcome the last vestiges of good judgment left in my muddled brain and decided to goof around with a Twitter Account. I'm slow to jump into any sort of social networking. I end up feeling obligated to post regularly. How hard can it be to come up with one liners every couple of days?
If you are into that sort of thing, you can find me @kraythur...

Jonzac Posted a Blog: Back in the Saddle
It certainly has been awhile since my last post, but frankly a nice vacation in Cancun, Mexico far outweighs anything WAR has to offer. Sun, margaritas, old ruins, margaritas, family, margaritas, swimming, margaritas...you get the picture.
Played a little bit now that 1.4 is out and I'm not sure I like it at the T2 and T3 stages. I do like the new bracket levels for T2 and T3. I just could never strike a good balance between leveling my actual level to gain new abilities and leveling my renown and Warcamp influence...

Evamaria Posted a Blog: T2 Make everything blue!
Took a few hours but we turned T2 completely blue. The lovely tactics and strategic moves to bluff and out smart destruction worked as they often do. Can be rather frustrating for our Order leaders when the Order guys don't follow the orders (aka hiding in the cave as they should). Was exciting laying in wait ready to pounce on an unguarded keep whilst Destruction were scrambling trying to figure out where to go.
Highlight though is having a warband of destruction running away from a small group of Order...

Evamaria Posted a Blog: T1 Seige night
Absolutely loved getting back to basics. Was great watching Destruction get outsmarted and outgunned by Order. Several Order were commenting how nice it was to win against Order. We got a few zone flips and had a few players level beyond Tier 1. For me the personal highlights were jumping off the boat at Nordland to flank the incoming Destruction force, hiding in the tavern at Festernplatz and just slaughtering Destruction who kept trying to come in and get us. Heaps of great fun, I might have to reroll a toon for when we do it again!

I haven't been on for over 2 weeks as I had a trip to Seattle since our return I have been enjoying my time with my family more than anything and have been way more focused on that part of my life. Jonzac Posted a Battle Recap: A long and difficult fight
Wonderful night in T2 on Badlands! Signed in with my lvl 19 Witch Hunter, Martain, and attempted to get from Ellyrion to Cascades of Thunder (or CoT). Took a long time to find a way over the mountains and, of course, as soon as I reached the summit the warband had taken the castle and then died to the estimated 100+ Destruction horde that had arrived. We then moved to Stonetroll, had the door down but was prevented from capturing the keep by the same large Destro horde.
Our leader, who's name I forgot and can't spell, then split up the three warbands that were participating send each of us to different zones...

Jonzac Posted a Battle Recap: Early Success
The night started quickly with the call from our leader to form up in Thunder Mountain. Although I was very inexperienced compared to the many warrior who volunteered, I was honored to be placed in the warband of our leader, Foghladha.
I caught the warband as it had completely destroyed the inner door at Bloodfist Rock. Where the evergrowning forces of Order quickly attacked and reclaimed the keep from the forces of Chaos. More and more heroes joined our fight and Karak Karag was also taken with minimial resistance from the Greenskins or their allies...

I am really proud of my father in law, son, and our family friend that plays on occasion. We have been able to do fairly well over the past few days running pug pq groups and pug warbands. It gives me a little faith that I still have a decent want or will play and put so much time in. Now if i could only get my wife to play. She is getting there tho.
