Aetheogh Posted a Blog: Getting used to the game
Hello, you all may have noticed that have changed my name to Aetheogh. I no longer use Falonarion in Vent or will be using it again. Aetheogh is Old Celtic for Arthur which is my real life name.
I will respond in vent to Arthur (not Art) if you cannot pronounce Aetheogh (Ae - theogh)
Rift itself is still learning process and Aetheogh the warrior is not out of the running he just had a redo to a Mathosian Warrior (Paladin/Riftblade/Warlord).
I noticed from checking out the paladin that if spend 40 points into paladin I get some nice features including self heals which from reading the official paladin forum is lot better then reaver...

Moxie Posted a Blog: Squeakety Squeak Squeak...
Last night I found a consumable item that turned me into a squirrel for 30 minutes. Hijinks ensued! The squirrel jump animation is eerily reminiscent of the Night Elf jump from World of Warcraft... but more fun I think. I'm probably weird, but I did this for about 10 minutes last night:
Then I headed to town and started talking to folks. Most just looked at me strange. A couple of folks asked me to "shoo!". One apparently inebriated but friendly dwarf in the Argent Glade inn decided to humor me...

Gellor Posted a Blog: Chords in the Rift, Pt 2
Bucolic… was that the right word? It seemed critical to him that he used a good term. He knew, at least, that he was a bard, and that such things were important to bards.
Bucolic… The word simply seemed to have a tinge of the negative. Maybe that came from the disconnection he’d felt from the world around him, as if the air itself felt guilty touching him. He imagined a kingfisher suddenly finding itself on a mountain peak: bewildered, cold, dizzy, curious. The image felt apt.
But bucolic seemed to fit the village just as aptly...

Gellor Posted a Blog: Hearth's Fall (RP Intro)
[This is an RP intro for the second character I have planned to create in Rift]
---------------------------------------
The dust was the worst of it.
The shaking and rumbling of the caverns was a distraction, but the deep caverns and holds of Earthmarrow were not strangers to these. No dwarf worth his hammer or her axe dreaded quakes for their own sake. It was an ancient point of honor to build and carve one’s home to be immune to the worst of the effects, and every shaking of the world brought with it the potential for new lodes...

Deft Posted a Blog: Northborne: Chapter 3
Chapter 3
The following day I entered my village one last time to gather any belongings that I might require on my journey, or anything that held special meaning for me. Our house was not nearly as burned as most of the other dwellings in the village, and I was thankful to find plenty of dried meat and water to help me survive the coming weeks. On my way around the house, I suddenly noticed the mirror hanging on the wall. We were a simple people, so mirrors were considered a luxury, and only elders or very rich warriors could afford them...

Deft Posted a Blog: Northborne: Chapter 2
Chapter 2
I don’t remember how long I sat there, under the gate to our burned village, but day and night blended together into a continuous stream of misery. Where would I go? Granted, I knew how to survive in the wild, and live off the land for months, even years, but the village had always been there for me to come back to. It was my safe place, where I could rest, and enjoy my father’s company.
My father.
The thought brought fresh pangs of grief back into my gut. How I wished I could go back in time, to the day before I had left on my hunting trip...

Deft Posted a Blog: Northborne: Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Our tribe lived in the far north, past the mountains and past still more. We cared nothing of gods, blood storm, or planar energy. We had each other, we had the beasts of the land, and we were content. I was the daughter of our tribe’s wisest hunter, Volk. For days and years he strove to teach me his wisdom; that the mind is greater than the sword, that magic could be used to defeat any foe, but I was an unruly student. All that mattered to me was the wild land, running for days, hunting beasts, and challenging anyone who crossed me...

Deft Posted a Blog: Northborne: Prologue (RP intro)
Prologue
“Kneel before me in life, or bow in death, either way, you will serve me.â€
The lich’s cruel words hung in my memory. It had been nearly a decade since I had faced the undead sorcerer, an experience I was none too eager to repeat. Back then I had been a reckless warrior, a blasphemer of the gods. I served no one and nothing. I was master. That all changed when my father, my tribe, was taken by this… abomination. The time had finally come for vengeance.
Before my eyes stretched a chasm so deep I imagined that a rock would fall for hours before it reached the bottom...

Kollrick Posted a Blog: Background...
The early days of Kollrick. Step back with me to a time about 10 or 12 years ago, when only a lucky few had DSL or cable and dial-up was the common connection. To the early days of MMORPG's, to a game called UO...
So here I was addicted to this "new game" I would go to work, come home and play until way too late. And then try to do it all again tomorrow. Heh, with dial-up and lag, often times you would lag out, go to bed and log-in tomorrow only to find that all you had done the night before was lost...

Falonarion Posted a Blog: Rift: Planes of Telera
The game is turning out to quite interesting to say the least.
We even have a Gaiscioch Family Guild going on currently on Beta Faeblight PVE-RP Server. So if any members that get a beta invite for next beta, be sure to join us for some fun, adventure and sending in feedback and bug reports.
The guild on Faeblight has grown quite a lot, it is nice to see this. It is going to be even greater when we hit live. What ever RP Server Fog picks for us we going to be there.
PVP aspect is quite fun, even though there are still issues that needs to be resolved but do hope they will be resolved by launch date...

Foghladha Posted a Blog: Impressions PvE vs PvP servers - Note to Players, Both have lots of PvP
There's a lot of misunderstanding going about and I feel that perhaps I can shed some light on it. I've been playing a while now on both styles of servers. Both servers types have PvP. And no im not talking about Warfronts.
My PvE Server Experience
At level 15 I swam my way to the island with the tower on it which links Freemarch to Silverwood. I ventured over to the hostile territory to see just what PvP would be like on the PvE servers. Within 5 minutes of arriving in hostile territory I had my first fight with a couple Defiants...

Morreion Posted a Blog: Memories: Fins Groups in Hibernia DAoC
[center]Fins Groups were the Hibernian right of passage in the classic days. When you were level 40+, you generally did the Coruscating Mines, the further reaches of the Bog of Cullen, a Darkness Falls group (if your Realm owned entrance rights) or the Cursed Forest. This is where the dreaded finliaths spawned, in groups of 3 to 5. There were 3 camps to choose from, and were called by what was in proximity to them- wall fins, log fins...not sure what the other was called. River fins?

Gellor Posted a Blog: Chords in the Rift (RP Intro)
Five sharp notes carried out over the lake.
Born of an aged and antiqued mandolin they were. The notes seemed to hover for a moment over the water’s chop, stirred by the zephyr, before dissipating into echo and the wind’s deep whistle.
By the lake’s edge, under a stout and rough-barked tree, sat the man who cradled the instrument as if it were a slumbering child. His face was yet young, if the still-smooth features and the thin beard were to be trusted, but a few strands of grey had crept into his forelocks, and his fingertips were well calloused...

Clanorton Posted a Blog: battle of wallenber a clanorton story
Year 2527
Journal entry 14
Battle of Wallenberg
Tis been 6 years since the fall of my home, the great mining for of Kalazed. The survivors of that battle in the deep confines of the World Edge Mountains are few. Only 1000 of the clan Orton made it out and few hundred of clan oaken shield are left, clans firebrew, ironpike and the mighty stonebreaker clan are all destroyed. The survivors are reduced to selling there crafts to men of the empire. The manlings knights of the order of the broken sword have established a new chapter house in the city of Kislev since theirs in nantook was destroyed when the orcs took Kalazed and destroyed the town of nantook below the fort...

Foghladha Posted a Blog: The Evolution of MMO
There's been a lot of debate over whether RIFT: Planes of Telara and Guild Wars 2 are "Next-Gen". Many have ruled them out completely claiming their carbon copy MMO's. We'll lets take a closer look at these two upcoming titles and see what's under the hood.
PUSH vs PULL
In WoW, DAOC, EQ, WAR, Etc. The main system is built on the idea of a world which a player lives in. You play a side story in bigger picture. When you log off nothing changes, nobody misses you, the world is the same as when you were logged in...

Korzak Posted a Blog: All Aboard the Rune Priest Renown Train!!
Korzak (the dwarf of Iron Breaking fame) is now renown rank 82. Finally. It's taken quite a bit of time to progress from 81 to 82, but mostly because I havn't been playing Korzak very much. That's not to say that I've not been active, no, I've been more than active. I've been chugging along on my Rune Priest, Lorkig.
The crazy rate of renown gain from the progression pack, coupled with the crazy rate of renown gain from out of group healing with a dash of crazy AAO bonus is, well, crazy. The Rune Priest is a very active healing class, with lots of options for out of group heals, which makes them perfect for the keep defense/assault/warcamp skirmish leaching...

Jonzac Posted a Battle Recap: Most excellent Ted...Most Excellent Bill
Another great night in T3 under a T3 siege night runs by The Gaiscioch Family. I started late on Saturday and quickly got into one of the two warbands we were hosting. I was in a Dwarf then Elf zone lock. Not much to say about those as most of Destro was in the other lands locking those down.
Finally, we managed to get together in Empire. Order arrived with Destro having Stoneclaw at four stars and our keep, Passwatch, at zero stars and the inner door under attack. Foghlahda ran his warband to Passwatch, hitting Destro from behind and saved the keep with the inner door at 13%...

Jonzac Posted a Battle Recap: T2 fun and excitement
Finished another guild night, the T2 Seige Night run by the Gaiscioch Family. We are all still figuring out the best way to hold and complete in 1.4, and last night was no different. Personally, I feel that 1.4 has hurt the ability of a smaller force to hold out against the odds. The inability of smaller warbands and groups to adequately defend keeps has led to the "round robin" effect in zones. Order will push Empire, while Destro closes Dwarf. They meet briefly in Elf until one side realizes they can't roll the other side...
