Rearranging People in the Family House in Guild Wars 2

Hello Everyone,

Now that the initial rush is over and our population has stabalized we have seen some issues arrise with our current setup. The biggest issue that we have is that with the new people and one room and the long time members in another and no alliance system to bridge the three we're not getting enough cross communication between the two groups. This in turn causes all of the burden of teaching new members about the family onto the shoulders of the elders when there are hundreds of others that would love to help out.

So we're making some changes to our 4 rooms of the house that should help serve as bridges to certain playstyles.

Gaiscíoch & Gaiscioch (The Family Rooms)

These will be the main rooms of the house. We will be trying to split these down the middle population wise so that everyone can participate and have a large pool of friends to communicate with. We will be moving all Oceanic - European Primetime (12AM-12PM players over to Gaiscíoch so that during our off peak hours we have a solid channel of communication. Everyone else will be evenly spread between the 2 rooms. If you at anytime want to swap rooms just contact an elder and they can move you. These will be the primary rooms that all members will use while their out and about.

Gaiscioch na Anu (PvE)

We will be repurposing Gaiscioch na Anu as the room of the house you can go to form up groups for PvE. This includes gathering hunts, dungeons, zone completions, etc. All members Lorgair or Higher will have access to this room by adding PvE or Social Gaming to their profile under "Edit Profile". This room will act as a bridge for those that want to find PvE groups. You can flip between your home room and Anu to help build your parties.

Requirements:

• Must Be Active On Website In Past 14 Days
• Must be a Lorgair or higher

Gaiscioch na Rall (WvW/PvP)

We will be relaunching Gaiscioch na Rall for our WvW and PvP activities. All members Lorgair or higher will be eligable to join this room if they have PvP toggled on their profile which can be set by using the Edit Profile ability. To maintain a slot in this room of the house you must be actively logging into the website. You can flip between your home room and Rall to help build your parties.

Requirements:

• Must Be Active On Website In Past 14 Days
• Must be a Lorgair or higher

The Process

Over the next few weeks you will find an invite to the rooms you have selected in your profile. We will be inviting all Gaiscioch na Anu's into the 2 Gaiscioch Family Rooms. Please be patient we have a few hundred people to invite and it will take some time. 

It is our hopes that this can allow us to bridge the gap that hinders us and allows us to grow our communication channels. We will also be able to specialize the 2 specialty guilds to allow us to have the best buffs possible for those in them. In the end I think this will be a much better solution for our families needs in the upcoming months.

 NOTE: Please DO NOT LEAVE GUILD in the Primary Room you are in. We need you there to help teach new members. The Anu and Rall rooms of the house are to be used as Lobbies and Organizing rooms. They are not for every day use. Please represent them when you are actively doing something in that genre, and represent your home room when you're just soloing or socializing. HOWEVER: Please make sure you are only in Gaiscioch OR Gaiscíoch. All Oceanic/European Primetime players should be in Gaiscíoch.

The only thing I disliked was picking a playtime when I am most active. I game more than 40 hurs a week and I am really on from about 3 pm PST to midnight or later. I wish there was a way to check multiple times. :) I also just checked PvP since most of the events I participate in are the PvP ones although I do jump into some of the PvE events occassionally but dungeon runs and crafting events just aren't my style.

This is a great idea. I would have to agree with Morigana though. I wasn't sure what time to pick since I play from about 1pm to about 2am central time. I also play just as much pvp as I do pve. Any suggestions on what to do about picking a playtime and style would be appreciated.

The playstyle feature you can select as many as you like. The playtime is only used to see if your us based timezones or eu/oceanic based so we know if you should be in funny I gaiscioch or either gaiscioch. Were trying to get all the offpeaks together so they have people to play with.

I need everyone to accept their invites ASAP. We can only have a few invites out at a time so until we can get people to join we're going to be slow moving on the invite front.

I don't just like this... I LOVE IT! I can already see it solving some minor frustrations I've been having with group finding and other communications. Thank you so much for working this out and taking the time and trouble to make the transition.

Thank you very much for doing this :) This was the first thing I thought of when I noticed there was more than one GSCH guild :P I've just tossed my main time period in (usually play around the 12-6am period for the night period here and well.. weekends... I have to sleep?)

I told Fog last night when we discussed this that I thought it was better. And he is right, our population for now has stabilized so we can start moving forward more with organization rather than just making sure we have room. Now I know some of you don't like how put up the three hour blocks. Just pick the one you definitely are on the most. It's more to help keep people together based on time they play and we know a lot of us play a lot more, myself included. Depending on how I feel and what day it is you can find me from 6am to midnight eastern. HA! But mostly 9am to 3pm pst so I put the noon to 3 pacific because that is where I tend to be a lot regardless. And please do accept the invites ASAP due to limit on how many invites we can have at a time. We actually figured out how to break a guild due to this during the head start. Don't really want to test if they really fixed that invite issue overall. ;) Fog has enough gray hairs and so do I.

so if we do both styles and have invites to both na anu and na rall but we play in pvp style overwhelmingly more do we just accept the rall invite and decline anu or go ahead and accept both??

Two home rooms = 1,000 people. We've been at 1,300+ for quite awhile now. Some inactivity and rage quitting is par for the course with MMOs, but is it really as high as 25-30%?

You can be in both Na Anu and Rall but only 1 of gaiscioch or funny Gaiscioch. ;)

Yed arrowfell with the 45 day inactivity pollicy a lot of the game hoppers have become known. There is always an intitial flood and when the tidal wave passes it the stabalizes. Not everyone finds guild wars 2 for them. Were at 949 active atm. The revolving door has allowed us to focus our efforts a bit more and put people together.

I've noticed that there are quite a few that do not represent Gaiscioch.. at all. I was feeling snoopy a week or so back (it gets quiet late night when I play) so I started snooping the guild rosters to see what guild folks were representing, and I found that quite a few ranked as Members, at least in funny i, don't represent funny i... and they were not representing Anu, either. I watched the trend over a week, and they just were not representing funny i at all. Not talking about just a couple, either, maybe 10-ish? I figured that they might be Tuatha members, most likely not, but I don't know how the Tuatha guilds work in GW2 with no Alliance features. If they're not Tuatha, and if things get tight for space, you can always look into trimming those branches. /justanobservation

We have some tuatha members and we also encourage our members to be a part of other guilds and communities. Gaiscioch is about building server communities and part of that is allowing our members to be connected to the community as a whole. A lot of people have their own personal guild for extra bank space and spend time solo leveling it for more space.

Should we organize RP out of the Na Anu?

Sending the forum email about this change was very helpful for me. The game does not give a notice that an invite was sent. When I received the email, I logged in and saw two invites and then promptly checked for a forum post to understand what was happening. Thanks!

Trying to patch the shortcoming's of the games we play is something I do rather well :D.

Like Fog mentioned above. My wife and I are definitely part of the Gaiscioch family but over the last two weeks we have been representing our own 2 person guild simply to gain bank space. I think we even got the idea from a post hear on this website. :)

Understandable, I have my own guild, too. I have Waelwulfas reserved on GW2, but since I lost all of its influence (and the bank) on the server move, I just haven't felt any incentive to rebuild it. PITA by myself is an understatement. At least the name is safe, I guess. Anyway, I keep reading about space issues, so thought I'd make the suggestion.

I am totally on par with this. It gives more availability to others, and helps put more eyes onto the field. This will help reduce stress and increase fun! How can ya not like it!? +1, "Like", whatever i gotta do to get behind this. :D -The Bloodmaw-

On the selection of those three hour blocks. That is kinda difficult for me. I can be on a lot at any particular time or not at depending on how rl goes.

Ok so I am East Coast US, week nights I can usually play the most from 9pm to midnight my time (6pm-9pm PST) but sometimes I can get on 6pm my time (so 3pm-9pm PST). Weekends all bets are off and vary heavily! I chose the 6pm-9pm option on my profile but I got an invite to the Australian guild. I'm not sure if it was an error. I checked my profile to ake sure I selected the correct 3 hour time slot. I asked in guild chat (Na Anu) if anyone could help but no one there could. I whispered Ben once but I think he was either afk or super busy with other stuff because he didn't answer (I didn't keep whispering him because I didn't want to bug him). I had wanted to check before I accepted but since no one got back to me and I know you guys wanted people to accept asap due to limited invites I went ahead and accepted the invite and figured I'd just ask here. Is there a reason I (a US player who playes 6pm-9pm PST) am in the Australian guild? Is it a mistake? Thanks!

Funny I guild isn't strictly speaking the Australian guild, it's just the guild that the Australians were put into. There should be plenty of other people in that guild.

Aye we choose the funny Gaiscioch for the Oceanics, but many other members live there also. ;)

***Please see "Edit" note below, this is all fixed now*** I am replying here because when I logged in to GW2 today (haven't been on since before thanksgiving holiday in the game) I was no longer in na Anu or any other portion of Gaiscioch so can't ask there. I am assuming it is because of the mechanics of reorganizing that are going on in this post? I just want to be in the same Gaiscioch as my r/l husband (Atheas.7580 - we both do PvE & are U.S. folks) and I don't know how to make sure that happens this time around. At this posting Atheas is still is his "Gaiscioch" guild actually in game so that is where I want to end up. lol ***EDITED: Nevermind, it's all straightened out now, thanks! No need to "fix" anything I am back into the parts I need to be in =) *****

PSA: Carefully read your website mail on this subject. This part specifically stands out (emphasis mine): > Please note that to maintain your spot in the active roster for Gaiscioch na Rall/Anu, you will be required to login to this site every 14 days. Before we explode into another hate-thread about logging into the website, I believe that the 14 day rule only applies to Na Rall and Na Anu. Since there hasn't been an announcement and subsequent flame war, I would assume that Gaiscioch and Funny-I both still adhere to the 45 day rule. So if you don't log into the website every couple of weeks, you'll get booted out of Na Rall and Na Anu, but not Gaiscioch or Funny-I. Makes sense, when you think about it. We have 949 active GSCH, and only 500 spots each in Na Rall and Na Anu. If our PvE/PvP distribution isn't pretty close to 50/50 (it's not), then Anu is going to fill very quickly, and PvE players won't be able to join the PvE house.

Fog nailed it with the Personal Bank Guild thats what I have been doing myself. takes 2500 points to open the first 50 slot guild vault btw :)

Yes, If you have PvP Checked you'll get a Rall invite. If you have PvE checked you'll get an Anu invite. If you play in an Oceanic or European timeframe the system will default to invite you to Gaiscioch with the funny i.

This might not be the right thread to ask this Fog (so if it isn't, I apologize in advance)..... Is there a crafting room setup yet? If so, how does one go about get an invite to it? :) I understand it's hectic and busy and we are huge family. So if I just need to wait patiently, it is cool...no rush. I didn't know if I needed to do something to get the invite. :) Thanks, Jen

I'm focusing the crafting bonuses on the 2 main rooms of the house. We're going to roll with 4 for the time being.

I have absolutely no issue with "filling the numbers" in "Funny I" but just wanted to point out that although I have this weird accent, I am actually an ex-pat on US Central time. I know I confuse a lot of people on comms. :)

Everyone has a funny accent in the funny i guild.. that's why we got the funny i *eye twitches*
