Hi All
For those of you planning to take part in PVE in Guild Wars 2, I would like to explain the events we will be running once the game goes live.
Each week, there will be a public pve event zone clear which Fog and I will be running alternately. He will announce the details closer to the time, but I can assure you it will be on a grand scale. This event will allow zone completion and aim at triggering as many events as possible along the way. This will benefit pve-ers, achievement hunters, explorers and crafters and anyone else keen to get involved in an organised activity with Gaiscioch. Watch this space for further details!
Dungeons are a big part of the game for PVE-ers, and Guild Wars 2 has 8 dungeons playable on story mode, with 3 extra explorable modes that are much much harder, and have extra content in the form of different bosses and a separate story quest for each. I will be publishing the first guide to Ascalonian Catacombs during week one of release. This is a level 30 instance and is a lot of fun.
Meta Events are an exciting part of GW2 because the truly dynamic nature of the questing system morphs depending on how many people are in a zone. With enough players completing events, we are able to trigger new events, and in the higher zones these lead to meta events. A meta event will require a raid sized team to accomplish, and we will be focusing on these as we progress.
The most prudent advice I can give you to ensure fun adventures in Guild Wars 2, is to group up whenever and wherever you can. This will allow you to enjoy the game, build friendships and take on the harder zone and instance events. No more worrying about whether the tank is on, or who is going to heal tonight....in this game there is no trinity, and no need to worry about class composition. Fill your group of 5 as often as you can for maximum enjoyment and benefit to those participating. Often, zone events triggering can make a sunny stroll through lowbie-ville turn into a life or death battle against mobs suddenly super powered by an influx of players. Being in a group will help mitigate the carnage and ehance survivability.
Guild Wars 2 lifts many of the restrictions imposed on PVE by other MMOs, the most important being the absence of instanced raids. No more worrying about the fact that you cannot make the raid that night, or you may be left out by the raid leader because your goldfish was on fire the week before and you had to leave early! The game introduces many ways in which to attain end game gear, whether it be from WvW, PVP, Crafting or Dungeons. People who were perhaps constrained in the past by not raiding, now have the an open door to kick ass gear acquisition.
I look forward to Guild Wars 2 PVE with you all. Further announcements as to dates and times will be made closer to release......are we there yet????
