Archy Posted a Guide: DPS Warrior (1.2) - Pre Raid Gear, Build and Rotation
(Updated Wednesday 18th May 2011) First up a few notes about gearing your Warrior. Nowhere have I found any indication that there’s a hard or soft cap on crit, so go nuts on it, even to the point of stacking dex on occasion as you get 1 crit per dex. So with that, I came up with a spreadsheet for where to get your Best In Slot (BiS) pre raid gear. The list mainly consists of items with Crit. My formula for “Score” is simply total attack power plus total crit. Even though the game generally gives out points at 2 crit = 1 AP, I don’t think AP is worth that much...

Vampiresbane Posted a Blog: Vampyres Bane's WvWvW Profession Importance Theorycrafting Session
Like many of you pvp’ers out there, I am foaming at the mouth waiting for good, heart pounding battlefield pvp and consequently Guild Wars 2 (GW2). There’s some information on how Realm fighting will work (aka WvWvW), but not a ton. When faced with a lack of information, one must inevitably theorycraft! Granted there will be assumptions abound so take all of this with a grain of salt, but I’ll base as much of this on what Arenanet has actually stated. So let the theorycrafting begin! Two main things have to be taken in consideration for WvWvW: #1 There will be no healing class in GW2...

Donaliam Posted a Blog: A Day of Dungeons
When I signed in Sunday to play Rift I planned to just quest a bit and level up my rogue (Uan). After questing in Stillmoor, I ran into a problem, a world event had just ended in Stillmoor and my quest turn in hub, Trial of the Sentinel, was overrun with Death Invasions. They managed to establish a foothold as well. I first though I might be able to take it down solo. WRONG!! There was a foothold and at least ten major invasions surrounding the foothold. I tagged one of them then began screaming RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY! Barely escaped...

Bach2099 Posted a Battle Recap: The fall of the Manticore Sentries.
As the night wore on the dungeon laid out before us its challenges. One more powerful and deadly than the next. We battled our way through each encounter with vim and vigor, thumbing our noses at the dangers before us. Until we reached the manticores. Mighty they are, and mightily they fought. The young warrior Booie still wet behind his beard faced them repeatedly with all the help we his compatriots could muster. And repeatedly we fell. Booie however would not yield, he would not surrender, he would not even let those evil vile manticores dampen his spirits...

Archy Posted a Guide: Rift Raid Guide - Stillmoor (Terror of Undeath)
Toward the end of each phase, make sure you're near enough to the edge of the rift so that you can run out of danger when the phase ends. Phase 1 Roles: 2 tanks, 3 Healers, 1 Support, 4 DPS (2 Golems + 1 Lich) x 4 MT will tank both the golems slightly away from the Lich, while the OT picks up the Lich. Archy Posted a Guide: DPS Warrior Levelling - Macros and Builds
I’ve levelled a Warrior to 50 and everything pre Greenscale on Deepstrike, mainly as a tank, but ended up doing a lot of DPS runs as well. I’m about to re-level Archy up to the same glory on Fae so I thought I’d revisit what I’d done and share it. Warriors are actually really quite easy to level as they can make extensive use of macros to destroy things. You can pretty much use a single macro to kill anything, however, I’ll show you how to get the best out of your macros as you’re levelling up...

Fairybella Posted a Guide: How-to Get the Most Enjoyment Out of Family Events, and Help Out Your Raid
An event led by the Family is not just a few players (leaders) dragging everyone else along for the ride. A Gaiscioch public event is a cooperative effort by every single Gaiscioch member that participates. In order to ensure that everyone gets the most enjoyment out of a large-scale event, everyone has to play their part. There are several things you can do that will help out not just the leadership but all your raid-mates and yourself as well. 1. Stay with the raid leader. (Raid leader does not mean event leader...

Kaytlyn Posted a Blog: Port Scion
I was back in Port Scion today. I was able to buy the supplies I needed after a long journey. On the way back to I stumbled upon a large group of clansmen in the wasteland of Scarwood Reach. I don't like this area. It is bleak and barren and filled with all manner of creatures. All who would certainly be willing to feast on my bones given half a chance. Luckily they are slow witted and easily defeated. My clansmen were performing a hunting party for our enemies. The defiant were few and far between since our clan is feared throughout the world...

Ltol Posted a Guide: Artifacts of Stillmoor
Greetings all, Below is a list of Artifact locations that I compiled during my time exploring the Stillmoor Zone. The list shows approximately 85% of the Artifact locations that can be found in the Zone. Also it should be noted the Artifacts listed for each location are not all the Artifacts that could spawn there .. Many of the locations have a chance of dropping a assortment of different Artifacts, so what you get may be different from what’s on the list. The list will give you the location, Artifact name for the Artifact I got there, along with the set name it belongs to as well as the place within the set the Artifact goes...

Kaytlyn Posted a Blog: Amonst the Enemy
I stumbled into what once was the great city of Port Scion today. I was shaken by the sight of the destruction that has be leveled on this once great city. Only a small area is still under the control of the ascended and we fight each other rather than our common enemy. The Defiant are everywhere, we are everywhere. There is a constant state of war amongst the ascended here. No one wins, everyone looses. I stand and fight amongst them, often times out numbered and equipped with only meager weapons and armor...

Charlatan Posted a Blog: T1 Dungeon: Expert Iron Tombs
T1 Iron Tombs Iron Tombs is considered one of the easiest Expert dungeons. It's a pain to get to for us Guardians, but it's worth it, as it has six juicy bosses, and none of the fights are terribly difficult. Expert Iron Tombs contains six bosses: the three that appear in regular IT, and three bonus bosses that only appear in Expert. When you get to the top of the stairs (after about 6 or 7 pulls) you have the choice to fight Broodmother Veroxa or Caor Ashtone. Most people head to the left to fight Veroxa...

Aife Posted a Guide: King's Breach Normal (32+) : A tank's perspective
This is a summary of the bosses in KB normal and will contain my notes on tanking methods for their defeat. Boss 1: Difficulty 1/5 Hunter Suleng What is that Aife, another tank and spank? Sure is kids! Pull Suleng and just focus him down, he summons his puppies occasionally just keep them off your group and you should be fine. He also has a frontal AOE cleave so be wary of that. It usually helps to have your group close by for easy taunts on the adds. Boss 2: Difficulty 2/5 Ravalos Who doesn't love fighting massive Croc's that throw up acid...

Aife Posted a Guide: Runic Descent (36+): A tank's perspective
A general overview of the bosses in RD and strategies to defeat them. Boss 1: Difficulty 1/5 Rictus Quite an easy fight. Position your group behind the chest high wall in front of the platform that Rictus stands on. The reason for this is that Rictus AOE pulls every now and then and the wall prevents everyone getting yoinked and face melted. Unless your Mijjah and love to get pulled in just for lols :P I think he also has a small knock-back so I usually tank him at the bottom of the stairs against a pillar so that everyone has LoS and I don't get punted around...

Aife Posted a Guide: Fall of Lantern Hook Normal (42+) : A tank's perspective
A general overview of the various bosses within FLH and the tanking methods I used to down them. Boss 1: Difficulty 1/5 Rorf Rorf is quite easy to down on normal mode. He has a pet called Scratchy. Down scratchy first as he casts a DoT which does quite a bit of damage. I usually pull Scratchy away from Rorf when Rorf is on the other side of the pillar. Rorf usually just sits there attempting to cast through the pillar and only moves once Scratchy is downed. Rorf will cast two abilities, one is a ranged spell which is negligible and the other will make him jump backwards and root you for a few seconds...

Aife Posted a Guide: A Simple look into Bards
Bards are a great support soul, their buffs provide great utility to the group and their AOE 'trickle' healing can help on tough boss fights and give your group a definite edge. There are issues with the soul at the moment around its comparative power against Chloros, but that's for another discussion. People seem to struggle with the concept of the Bard especially when they haven't utilized it from the start of the leveling process. There are 5 main concepts to this soul 1. Motifs - your bread and butter 30 seconds (talented) buffs 2...
