so yeah... not the greatest of solo parsing specs on the raid dummy because it energy starves so fast.

HOWEVER, in raid where you have massive opportunities for energy regen (bard) and aoe heal/dps core's (crit proc from either returns 4 energy per, no internal cooldown on this) the dps from this build scales exponentially.

On a fight with only 1 boss this spec does respectable dps and provides some useful utilities such as power core and curative core.

On a fight with 2+ mobs that are stacked or able to be in the cone range of the torrents, this spec pretty much obliterates all other specs and classes en masse.  And the more rogue dps in raids running this spec the more it buffs the raid via Power Core and provides passive healing through curative core.

And for mass aoe burst it even beats/keeps up with sabo.  =)

While the opening rotation is somewhat particular.. you can pretty much cheese the rotation down to this..

Glacial torrent full cast for max debuff stacks on boss/mobs>> infernal torrent>> glacial torrent>> infernal torrent>> empyrean bolt>> torrent primer finisher>> (Rinse and repeat).  DO  NOT LET YOUR DEBUFF STACKS ON YOUR TARGET FALL OFF.  You can let your torrents run full duration or you can clip them.  Clipping them will net you a little higher dps.

***Keep infernal beam up whenever it drops off.  Keep up curative core- only exception is when you are running power core for the raid buff.  technically you could use necrotic core but that is only worth it if there are 10+ mobs stacked.  Reason is when your cores/torrents crit (heal or damage) you get 4 energy back which is HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE in this spec.  Cannot stress this enough.  Your energy gets hammered to crap if you don't get the most from energy returns.

***Use battle remote with Power core to simplify the cooldowns if you want.

Self Buffs-

Electrified munitions + Rending munitions + Restorative Engine + Energy alteration (not important unless you want to have rays/curative blast be no energy cost/instant cast/return energy which in most cases is a waste)

While it sounds complicated it really really really... is not.  the most complicated part of it is positioning.  Trust me when i say... stuff melts with this spec with 2+ mobs.

Niyah and I haven't played with it yet but I'd imagine with just 1 mob sub 30% you could switch over to necrotic torrent spam + necrotic bolt + necrotic engine.  This we are still working on.

Very fun spec, though it's quite situational. When you have the right kind of encounter to use this spec, there's nothing out there that can even come close to it IMO. I personally got upwards of 65k dps using this spec on some aoe pulls, and that was during my first day learning how to play it. If a dummy like me can get good results, believe the Cheaky when he says it's easy.

well.. to give credit where it's due Niyah is the one that obtained this spec. I'm just the one who made a post for it. And tbh, anything with 2+ mobs in a boss fight this just shines more and more. 1 mob boss fight this falls short by a bit. Still can play it single target but you really have to manage your sub 30% push and even then, like I said it will still fall well short of top end single target builds. The main reason is it's entire dps (besides 1 attack every 5-7 gcd's in empyrean bolt) is aoe of some sort. So if it's doing 8k single target dps you can figure to get close to 15-16k for 2 targets, 23-24k for 3.... and so on. That is why it scales soooo ridiculously well. For fights with 2+ mobs in 20man where we can hit them with a majority of aoe attacks this should be the go to dps spec for all rogue dps. Exception being having 1 rogue run hybrid nb/sin so as to apply a 5% crit bonus to virtually any mob it touches (including any aoe it uses). However, this is still up for debate I think as having the nb/sin hybrid rogue going as this tact dps build may prove to be a higher raid dps increase than having the 5% crit buff for the whole raid dps.

Also, while I'm finding the energy drain is pretty bad... you can actually sustain your energy pretty well even in a 5man without having a bard. It just becomes even more imperative that you manage your rotation to perfection... and weave your Infernal Beam and Curative core/Necrotic core in when you are at 2-4 stacks of the torrent debuff just to give your energy a chance to regen just a little bit more.

In a 5 man, you MUST clip ya torrents. Else you'll run into to many issue with energy. Granted you also should be using 4 torrents then ya bolt, then primer. Miss that primer once, not too huge of a deal. Miss it more then that.. you'll be crying to the energy gods. Tact is a very fun build. Solo-city, and great raid/5man dps. The trick as Cheaky pointed out is watching ya rotation. But.. you play a rogue.. aren't you already used to rotation watching?? (if not, you might be playing a warrior) :D Still, Sabo, is just flat out better AoE :D (sorry cheaky had to add this)

rofl maw.. glad to see you are still kickin... and I actually beg to differ about the aoe btw. =) this build I'm getting 10-20k more aoe dps on large packs than sabo. =D

Hmm I dunno maw, I might have to disagree with that better aoe claim there as well. I've surpassed 100k dps using this build in a raid rift.

This build is also discussed in detail on the rogue guide forums. 99.9% certain you alternate between Torrent Primer and Empyrean Ray at 5CPs. http://forums.riftgame.com/rift-general-discussions/classes-telara/class-guides/rogue-guides/353181-41tact-35mm-guide-cuz-peoples-askin.html The build linked in the OP starts around page 3. Agree with the point that every raiding rogue needs this build as one of their roles. Its probably the most versatile DPS build we have in that is has great single target, AOE, raid utility (cores), an interrupt, a speed buff, and heals.

don't alternate between empyrean ray and torrent primer. you get to 10 stacks of torrent debuff too easily at which point you start getting in a dps loss funk. best to just rotate torrents and finish with primer.
