Note before I start --- If this is not what happened, then mea culpa, but I asked in guild chat about what might have happened, and no one knew, so I'm left with no alternative narrative.   I'm not asking for support or dissent -- I just wanted to air my opinion.

I've been playing Rift a lot lately, and I've really been enjoying it.  That being said, I think I'm gonna probably cut back on time in Rift.

A few days ago, a pretty intense PVP guild quest was accepted.  I had been curious about the state of PVP, so I took it as a good time to jump in and try out some warfronts.  I don't think I was anything special, but I did chalk up some wins and got a few hundred kills towards the quest.  The last I saw the quest, it was at around 2000 out of the required 7000 PVP kills.  I logged on this morning, and the quest was gone.  I don't imagine we actually got 5000 kills and 25+ warfront wins while I was sleeping, so I'm pretty sure someone abandoned the quest for a different one.  I wouldn't mind this, but other people and myself were obviously doing things to further this quest.  It's 100% the only reason I was even giving PVP a try.

It just really rubs me the wrong way that someone seemingly logged in, saw a guild quest they weren't happy with, and moved on to a new one, even though there was significant work already done.  I feel that hours of my time trying to help the guild were thrown away and wasted.

Now, with this being an XP boost weekend, I'm sure the choice was justified as being "good for the guild," but I can't change my reaction to it.

This, coupled with the fact I think Trion has made decisions that punish (or at least take an inordinate percentage of money from) people who attempt to excel in the game, has led me to the decision to cut back on Rift time and try some other things.

Respectfully,

Hey Ruadhin,

Sorry that you feel slighted by this. It was not intended. I knsttucted our rlders to keep the exp moving forward as fast as possible so we can hit 30 assp. The PVP quest should have never been scvepted in the first place. The last time i tried that one after 2 weeks we werent even 50% of the way through. We havent completed ig a single time since we relaunched the chapter and i requested my elders to avoid that one as it gets us stuck and holds up progression. Each week we get a random PvE Quest, Dungron Quest and PVP quest. The PvE snd Dungron quests go by fast and are easg to complete. The PVP ond however as you know first hand is pretty miserable to try to complete. The swap was all about keeping our progression as fast as possible.

Ouch! This sounds like a bit of miscommunication and a classic case of the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing :)

Helpful suggestion to avoid things like this happening, let people know what you're up to :o It's all well and good for elders to know what their doing but the grunts gotta know as well.

Forum posts like: "This is our goal, this is what we're doing (trying to achieve), this is our progress so far etc (If it's on the forum and individuals neglect to check it that's on them then)

Just like the Patreon Progress post..... :P Just a game chapter version for that for all the individual chapters

Sorry for your experience bro! I've had similar things happen in other guilds :) but it's not a biggie so don't be too disgruntled over it :D

Hi Rua, I'm sorry to read that happened. I can certainly understand that it could rub someone the wrong way, especially someone who is actively contributing towards that quest and thus, the forward movement of the guild.

PVP is certainly a tough topic in Rift these days but it was nice to see that you dove in to explore it.  That's definitely why quests were designed for all content, not just some content. I've certainly seen that particular quest sit stale on the guild window for weeks (prior to now) but I don't remember seeing it as far as 2,000 kills - so 'Kudos' to you and our PVPers!

But I wanted to add that you are a fantastic player so I hope that we can win you back to Telara.  Rift is a sorrier place without great guildies such as yourself.

~Z~
