Massively.com Reports: Raiding in GW2!

Guild Wars 2 has been criticized in the past for not having having much PvE content for guilds and large groups of players. Several months ago, guild missions were added and helped fill that gap, but apparently we have more to look forward to.

ArenaNet's Chris Whiteside was chatting with players in the game and was asked whether or not we'd ever see raiding in Guild Wars 2. His reply was, "Our answer to raiding may very well be in the works! It is something I am very excited about and will be unique to GW2."

What could this mean for Guild Wars 2 and its players? What kind of unique spin could ArenaNet put on raiding? Let's dive into those questions after the break in a video edition of the Flameseeker Chronicles!

This is really exciting. I'd love some more challenging large group content we can do as a guild! Hoping this is something we'll see in the game.

My reaction is, too little too late for those raiders who already moved on. The vid discusses some interesting points about trinity, boss mechanics, rng, class roles and loot tables which I do not see being addressed well enough to make it worth returning. That said, I will wait til it is actually released to decide. Something about endgame pve in GW2 just does not click with me. I am happy for those who enjoy it, but I tend to read this with a huge dose of cynicism... I hope Arenanet prove me wrong. That would actually make me want to play!

I am excited for this, i am very hopeful that it will be something that can be done with anyone (that is willing to overcome the obstacle) much like a dungeon can be done with 5 random people. the current guild mission requirement that an Officer/Elder needs to unlock it for the guild puts unneeded stress on the leadership to provide entertainment and limits the times when these can be run. Something that is start-able with a random group of guild members or even pugs would be awesome.

Word Kemikal.  It'd be nice to just group up and raid, earning some contribution for the guild and not having to worry about starting an event and such.....

So I bet they integrate that somehow haha.  Raid challenges.  Okay, like optional bosses maybe?  That would so rock.

edit: I removed the blahblah of my initial gut reaction, which was not positive.  I'm one of those anti-raiders that he speaks of in the beginning of his video, but after watching most of it, I have to agree that ... we'll see.

But no, I am not happy to hear this news.  I've loved the fact that GW2 sought to be different and a cut above the rest of the stale, same old same old MMOG offerings that the WoW clone machine continues to churn out.  But, enough said.
