I tried to log into GW2 account and it came up with a requesting password change, how do I know if this is authentic? I have not received mail in my email asking me to do so, do I need to contact arenanet? I do not want to lose my account.

They did a manditory password change about a month ago. They compaired current passwords with the usernames emails and passwords being freely distributed across hacker networks. This was a good thing
Ok thank you, I know that this has been an issue in the pass and don't want to be another stat.
Ok I have done what is required and says that my account has been deactivated. I did the suport link and just awaiting an email or call back to get back into game.
Be sure to check your e-mail - they may have sent you a link after you did the password change to insure it was you.
Hm, its odd that they deactivated the account. I'm not saying it was compromised, but someone might have attempted the password too many times, so ArenaNet forced a change and deactivated it. That's the problem with these game developers using emails as the Username for log ins. Bioware got smart, and is changing SWTOR's login to Display Name Only, on April 2nd. IMO, its irresponsible for these other games to continue using email addresses, KNOWING FULL WELL, that most emails are already compromised and on the hacker lists.
Yeah Sek... I remember in the old days... they specifically forbid you from using your forum name, your email name, or your real name - you were suppose to choose a name unique to that particular game as a login. What they did was make it easy for them to track - big mistake.
How long does it usually take? First time this has ever happened to me in a game.

It has been nearly a week and I have not heard anything, however seeing that I don't use the forums that much on the GW2 site I found an area where I am hoping to get contact. Would like to put the frustration behind me and join you all again on the battle/playing field. Until I see you in game (hopefully soon).
