Thanks for pointing this out, Yak!
They're weirdly vague about it; more detail would have been nice and if I'm reading that correctly, costumes are going to be cash shop items instead of earned in-game? Bummer.
I hope this means we're going to get to see the GW2 incarnation of Mad King Thorn, though. I loves me some Mad King.

Winterbeard: A little birdie told me you hopes will be fulfilled.
Sweeeeeet. :D
Oooh!!! I hope the outfits will be free. ;-; I dont have that kind of moniez to purchase Cash shop. e.e cant wait!! Love Halloween!! Its mah favorite month! :D
It has been a long time since I did a GW Halloween event but I very much still remember running around Lion's Arch with my giant pumpkin head and playing Simon Says with the Mad King for witch's brew and other such randomly enjoyable items.
Hope I can get in on some o' that swag before the Zerg takes 'em all! :)
I just can't wait for the event. I've read somewhere (probably the official event page) that all of us will get something like a pair of horns at the first day of the event (just a little gift, it seems), and that more pieces of town clothing will be available via events. There will be new costumes at the In-Game store too, but expect the Gold to Gem ratio to be rather steep during the event, for a lot of people will be buying gems. On the other hand, it will be a good time to sell your gems for lots of gold (if you are so inclined). It seems the event will have 4 different phases, but there's not much information about what does it mean. I'm anxious for it to start. I love in game holiday events since my first day in WoW (that was, curiously, during a Halloween event many years ago).
ya wow always had great Halloween events. Used to like CoH's halloween event at least the first 1. Can't remember if EQ did 1 or not.
Argh.. It's the 22nd and I keep checking for a patch every 15 minutes. I wonder if they plan an early day or late day release of the patch. I fly out of town tomorrow morning so hoping for early day to get at least some time in on Act I. I won't return until after Act III has been released.
Starts mid-day today - they said the patch would not be available till this afternoon.
ahhh.. bummer... guess I will actually get some work done between now and then. On another note.. PC Gamer released a video preview. ***SPOILERS**** They don't show the quests, but they show a lot of goodies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=u4QM57ri8fE#!
We should start a screenshot thread for the first Holiday on the new game :)
FYI for those who watched the video and questioned the timer on the skins. There was a lot of speculation today and ArenaNet responded with some clarification. https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/game/halloween/Are-the-Halloween-skins-permament/500884
EQ did in fact have one its first year at least. I vividly remember a giant skeleton laying waste to the newbie zone outside (the city on the west side of the map...been a while) LOL..the place was littered with bodies and then of the folks trying to get back to their bodies. Sometimes I miss that game...sometimes.
I have been reading and if you're interested in karma, you definitely want to do the monthly quest. The last part of it is eating 150 candy corns and completing the monthly gives you 10 "Liquid Karma" jars that will give you 45,000 Karma for drinking them. You can get more if you use the Karma booster or the guild Karma boosts too. Even unboosted, that's enough karma to purchase one of the level 80 exotic armor pieces from one of the Orr zones (they're 42,500 karma each). It's probably also a good idea to save your daily achievement rewards and pop a booster right before drinking them all at once, too.
Wow! That is a huge amount of karma! Thanks for posting this it'd bit of information.
