Weekly Gold / MF Farming Event

I'm game. I work typical east coast hours, but am available most any other time that I'm not sleeping. I share your opinion of farming these zones solo and think heading out there with a group on a regular basis would answer most anyone's gold needs; it will certainly meet my own. Thanks for making an effort to put this together. I hope it works out.

Tuesday evenings works better for me than other days, but with such a large guild people will have conflicts no matter when you do this. So my first advice is to set this at a time when you want to do it, and try to minimize any conflict with other events (if you can). If you run an event that sounds interesting, I bet people will come to it! My suggestion would be - unless you're really familiar with the flow of events in the Orr zones - would be to to go to the area with a smaller group of people (say 5 or so) ahead of time to scout out the flow of events and see if you can determine a good way to shepherd everyone through the zone. You'll have to navigate not only bugged events but the hordes of bots in the zone, not to mention any other zergs of people who are there farming karma themselves. So the more you know ahead of time the better it'll be. When the event is underway it'll be really important for people to keep together. Given that the majority of the waypoints in these zones are contested all the time, if someone dies and releases, they will have a very difficult time making it back to the group.

I am pretty familar with Orr, but I do plan on doing some "dry runs" myself and with a group to sketch a general path I'd like to take. As for the contested WPs, that's the best news we can have, because there will be an event there for us to clear. I doubt we will experience many deaths if any, and certainly no wipes, so a rez should always be available for any unfortunate scenarios. Bots are always an issue unfortunately, but with a bunch of us out there ready to report them, perhaps we could thin out their numbers in time (doubtful *sadface*). This is something I would like to join in with, my main should hit lvl 80 some time this week. However, Tuesday nights I usually go to Fog's pve event that runs every Tuesday at 6pm server time, so it depends what time you were planning to have it.

Raighan, we would be happy to have you, of course. For Tuesday, I was planning on hosting the event around Noon server time (3pm EST) as there is no conflicting events listed. Now, for my fellow East Coast players, this is obviously an issue if you work this day, which is why I'm also considering Sundays as an option. I was leaning towards the same general time on Sunday as well (3pm EST). This is all off the top of my head though, I would really prefer to allow the majority of those who are interested in attending determine when I run the event. Again, I am quite happy to run it both days, as long as there is significant interest. My days off are for the family, so my time is your time : )

This sounds like fun. Sundays would work best for me as I am pst and get home late from work. Sundays I usually end up playing all day, watching NFL / EPL.

I think it sounds like a good idea, the times work for me. I am not 80 yet but it will give me something additional to look forward to.

Love the idea, but rarely can commit to any given time due to family, work, and other life stuff. Set up whatever works for you and some other people and throw it on the calendar. If I can be there, I'll be there. Regardless, go have fun and make money! One general suggestion, though - you might consider expanding it beyond Orr to places like Shiverpeaks. Although that's a 70-80 zone, the metaevent ending with killing Jormung/Jormung's claw can be great fun and usually yields a yellow and multiple greens at the end, plus a chance for some nice sigils.

I love this idea. I am east coast though. Most of the pve events during the week are held at 9pm my time so sometimes I do not get to stay the whole event but Sundays would be awesome. I am 80 and I tried to go to Orr with my Ele and I did not make it before I died and even though I opened up several waypoints they were all contested so I give up. It would be great to have a farming group that could go in and clear out the contested areas and I bet other folks in the area would be thankful.

This is an awesome idea. I would be up to running this with you. I'm usually available from 3:30pm - 9:30pm eastern. I've just got to get the rest of my MF gear together.

Sunday @3pm (EST) works for me, but yeah I can't do that time on weekdays because of work. Still I'm happy to get this in once a week.

I think I am going to schedule the event for this Sunday at 12 Noon, server time (3pm EST). I will determine future schudules from there. I also plan on editing the original post, not only to reflect this, but I've also decided to use standard weapons (not weak ones as I originally intended). I've come to this conclusion after going on Fog's event in Harathi Hinterlands last night; the zone seemed to scale quite well to our numbers, and while normal mobs still died easily, the events were challenging. If this doesn't work, we can always pick up some junk weapons on the move, or plan accordingly for next week. Thank you all for your input and support, I will do the best I can to make this event a success!

I am all for this. With all the magic find bonuses you can get, it really increases those drop rates of items. Looking forward to this!

This is great! I need some help farming gold.

So, an update on yesterday's run, and some changes going forward: Yesterday was a lot of fun, and I want to first thank everyone who took the time to come out. As my first scheduled event, I didn't expect such a good turnout, and it was a pleasant surprise. So, thank you all! As for the event itself, it started off well enough, but towards the end, some of us started noticing a severe drop in loot. I imagine this is due to the anti-bot measures Anet is taking in an effort to save the economy from, well, bots. Unfortunately, this system does not differentiate between bots, and a large group of Gaiscioch trying to farm some loot for a few hours. To make matters worse, at least two of the events in the immediate area I had planned to farm were bugged, leaving us waiting around a few times in between DE's. These two issues are unfortunately beyond my control, so I will simply have to plan around them for future events. Another issue I picked up on was some players not being able to 'tag' the mobs often enough to earn consistent drops. This problem is twofold, but unlike the previous issues mentioned, these are within my control, and I will adjust accordingly. For one, there were a LOT of people there at this time of day, so there is just that much more competition for loot. Second, some people were simply too low level to damage mobs sufficiently (and I mean in the mid 70s, nothing unreasonable). So, to address these two issues, I will be hosting next week's farming run in the Straits of Devastation (thanks to a helpful tip). This is a lower level zone, so it should remove the issue of not being able to cause damage for those <80. Also due to its lower level range, its of a lesser popularity than the Cursed Shore, so we should have far less competition for kills. To end on a positive note, we did earn a lot of loot (despite the unexpected challenges presented). On average, about 15k Karma earned, around 1.5g, lots of crafting materials (including some Globs), and loads of Experience. Really looking forward to next week, and with these planned improvements, it should be even better! Thanks again everyone.

As some of you already know, I have not had utilities in my home since Sandy. I still have no idea when this may be rectified, so I will not be able to lead my farming event for the foreseeable future. I have decided to remove this event from the Calendar, due to the large amount of new content that continues to be released during the Holiday season. I will consider setting it up again in an official capacity when things calm down a bit; in the meantime, if anyone is interested in farming, I still do that on Sunday and whatever my day off happens to be during the week, so feel free to send a message to Ralcore.9354 for a group!
