Granted I have not played for very long, but since you don't get PPT for holding objectives but DO get wxp for taking them, I see no need for defense. I can easily see EotM devolving into a perpetual karma train. At least this means the karma train will gone for good on the regular maps.

Yup, that's a benefit.  If people who want to karma train are doing it there, they're off the PPT maps.  I've heard (second hand rumor) that some SOR guilds are threatening to leave SOR if this continues (karma training in EotM), but you know... its a blessing in disguise.  Now those that want to focus on PPT, can and those that want to bag farm and karma train, can do it without causing conflicts.

Something happened to our server cooperation during the last WvW season.  I wasn't playing GW2 for the first half, but whatever happened, wasn't good.  I have an odd feeling that being in Tier 1 was more harmful to the community, than people want to believe or admit to.

Yeah we lost alot of people in the last season. The zerg blob though was really killing the game for me though. I liked in older games being able to make a difference on the map with just 4 or 5 people in a squad working to take down small points while the main force focused on the main objective. DAOC and lineage II for example. I am really looking forward to the Elderscrolls pvp setup and hopefully they will deliver.

Is EotM even enjoyable? I haven't tried it yet.

Haven't been out to EotM yet, myself, I'm not really a solo roamer and don't have a group to go out with anymore.

I agree with Karbonatom: the zerg blob, and dueling roamers, are what has killed my enthusiasm for WvW in GW2.  Sadly, its almost the same thing that DAOC devolved into, too.  Just that there's just not 20+ bard bots parked AFK at the portals, providing the duelers with group buffs.

At least the keeps in WvW are of a little more worth than the zone scenery that the keeps were in DAOC.  I heard Mythic has changed that around in the last year or two, but I haven't played that game in 9 years, think all my toons got deleted by server merges.

If TESO accommodates any type of complex siege strategy that involves anything other than running 60 people from one side of the map to the other, and actually spreads a firefight out, instead of stacking those 60 players on top of each other to mitigate AOE fields, then I am sure I will enjoy it a lot more.

EotM is actually pretty fun. The map is spacious and interesting and there are plenty of major and minor objectives to take. The biggest differences are:

1) The map is floating over an abyss and there are lots of choke points so therefore lots of opportunities for "gravity finishers." Wish I had recorded a clip of me fearing 3 guys off a cliff at once. Hehe! You will definitely want to have a knockback or fear type attack available as well as stability. If not, keep your back to a wall if you can.

2) There are not large open areas for battles so when zerg meets zerg, they tend to bog down around choke points. Also, lack of good communication means larger battles are less fluid.

3) NPC Veterans are TOUGH! Soloing supply depots is impossible, and you do not want to take on NPCs if you are outnumbered.

4) Opposing players are a lot easier to kill. Lots of pve'ers checking out the new content and low tier players mean skill levels of enemy players is low. I imagine the skill gap will close quickly over time.

As guild wars 2 populations start to fade as newer MMOs like wildstar and ESO go live, I would not be surprised if all wvw maps become like EotM. It would make a lot of sense to solve the low pop issue by combining multiple servers on one map.
