Queues and WvW

In the guild chat I have come across with two conflicting pieces of information. One piece of information says that we should re-enter the queue every 10~15 minutes because there is a bug. The other piece of information says that if you indeed do this you could crash the WvW and be banned.

So which one is correct? Both? Neither?

(I did some googling but I found nothing about the topic, I wanted to check with you guys first.)

As someone who has been doing the former since launch and never crashed the server or been banned, I would say from personal experience, the former is true.

If I know WvW is all queued up I always go to a low population zone (Rata Sum or Hoelbrak) and queue for my desired BL. I then re-enter the queue about every 15 min. I know for a fact that this does not drop your position in queue. It seems to force the server to refresh its knowledge of your current position (If that makes any sense). Many times I have sat in queues for over an hour and once I  re-queue I often get in within a minute or so.

There are way to many variables to test and come up with exact results.

What I can tell you is, no you wont be banned or crash WvW and yes re-queuing is more then just a placebo.

The queues are also prioritizing party members so, if you can get into a party with someone on the BL you will have a higher prioritization than everyone solo queuing.

I have recently gotten in with only a couple minutes of waiting while quite a lot of others were waiting over an hour. I really haven't been able to see any rhyme or reason to it. I have also spammed entering with mixed results and no adverse effects.

I can confirm I've heard FEAR say that queuing with someone who is already in the BL you want to go into will give you priority. I also have heard the low population instance to queue from is a key, as well as re-queuing. And this is the first I've ever hear someone mention a ban or crash, highly, highly, doubt that's true.

Thanks for the tips. Are there also better off-times to play. I'm West Coast so can stay up, but I rarely have more than like a couple hours to play at a time. The long queues are killing me.

i know of one person who got a 24 hour ban for Queuing over and over for about 15 minutes...  apearently if everyone would start doing that the mass Queuing could possibly crash the queue system hence keep everyone out of wvw....  now thats what a former guildy from wow told me....  how true it is well i guess only anet can confirm

Hmmm, could it be that he got a ban for something else besides the wvw queue? Otherwise we should have the would daggergroup banned by now if that's the case, isn't it?

Clint from A-net was running with us the other night and acknowledged there is an issue with the queue - and they are working on it.   He said there is a bit of truth to all the rumors.  It seems the queue is in constant flux and the reason different things work at different times - is because different things work at different times.  ;)

He didn't acknowledge that anyone was banned for re-queuing.... there were probably additional circumstances.    I know I have done that over a period of 2 hours on several occasions and didn't even receive a warning.   Now if he did it every minute of so and stated in chat that he was just trying to break the queue and some one reported him - well, that would probably get a ban.  You never attempt to break a game on purpose - devs frown on that.  :(

yeah i talked to him again the other night,  apearently he was going on in map chat that "  either i break it or i get in "  so i figure thats probably the bigger reason why he got the ban....  hes got a big mouth in any case so i'm not surprised he got banned lol :)

Full Zone waiting queue has been broken since... forever.  Its never worked right that I can recall. WvW or PvE.  Arenanet did attempt some changes to the "ordering", but it just made it a little better.  They have acknowledged that there's a bug where some players will not come up as "ready to enter", they're working on it again from what I heard last weekend in Raidcall from the Dev who is actually working on it.

Anet's workaround suggestion has always been to re-queue after an appropriate amount of waiting, which is generally accepted to be about 15-20m-ish.  Don't log out and back in, just re-click the button.  You won't get banned for re-queuing.
