Email Survey for Lost Shores Weekend

Everyone should have gotten an email asking for feedback regarding the Lost Shores Weekend Event.  It is legitimate, so please take the time to fill it out and let ArenaNet know your thoughts about the "one time event", especially the final battle that handed out exotics and precursors like candy and excluded those of us who could not log in at that time.

If you loved the event, great, let them know.  But if you're a bit disappointed, maybe even mad, about the lag, the lack of rewards for early events or the fantastic loot that you missed, or whatever, then speak your voice now, fill out the survey or have no reason to complain.

I filled the survey out as soon as I got it. Took me a while though because I gave them a ear full of what a nasty thing it is to "exclude" people because of their playtime. I was personally asleep during the events and find that this is no longer my "personal story" like was promised to me before I purchased the game. I am also a bit upset about how this game was not supposed to be about grind and farming. But how else are we supposed to get 250 globs of ecto for the upgrade mass infusion? Not to even mention the other things needed for the new back piece. I am unsure if anyone else feels this way but I for one am getting the feeling that this game is moving into who ever has the most money wins.

I filled out my survey and was pleased with the event. As far as the new gear goes I don't dungeon at all so the infusions are useless to me and the upgrade isn't large enough for me to try for. So it doesn't effect my playstyle at all. :)

Have to agree Kia being a Kiwi i was oh well i wont get to do part three then got home from work and heard about the drops and it was OMG. That there were guildies on trying to get people into the overflows that were still up showed yet again the character of Gaiscioch members that anet reset servers to shut down the overflows in some cases during the last fight i guess shows thiers. Perhaps monday we will get some good news but at the moment i see GW2 becoming maple story with dragons makes me wonder how things are back in Rift.

Only thing I didn't like was that some stuff seemed too long and repetive. I actually told them I had to go afk for about 5 minutes and came back to find I hadn't missed anything. That was during one of two of the fights to grind away at the reinforcements. Of course, this may have scaled worse due to full complement of people in the map instance, as well. I know the family did well in trying to get people into this event. Some even did it a few hours later finding an instance that had never finished and getting the people who missed the official time into it. I know it is hard for a company to do a one time only event and get it at a time that will work for people, but I think the time they picked hit the majority of the population. Unfortunately that doesn't help our wonderful Oceanics.

I didn't get an email :-/ If I did, I would say that I really enjoy the fact that they are so forthcoming with quality content so frequently. That said, they should take a bit more time to polish it up, remove the over-the-top time restrictions, REMOVE PRECURSORS from the loot chest tables, and have diminishing returns for alternate characters on the same account looting the event chest.

I didn't get a survey invite either. If I had, I'd have had some things to say about ArenaNet's quality assurance process. It seemed like everything during the Lost Shores weekend was broken, and we had to wait on fixes (during Free Trial weekend, no less. Great first impression). For the finale, I was on at the right time, but my client crashed every time I got near the event, so I didn't get to attend. Blizzard has shown over and over again how well a "it's done when it's done" philosophy works in MMOs. I wish ArenaNet would adopt something similar, and the smoothness of content releases that comes with it. One time events are awesome - they advance lore, give neat rewards, and are generally a good time. If they last less than a week, you're doing it wrong. ArenaNet has some of the finest people in the MMO industry, people who've been doing this for decades. There's absolutely no excuse for them to be making this mistake in 2012. I count the Lost Shores weekend as a failure primarily on this point. FotM is amazing, a complete master stroke. The Events team needs to spend a couple of months as interns on the Dungeons team to see how to do things right. We still don't have a dungeon finder (how is this not a release-level feature by now?), but that will come in time.
