Woohoo! Just hit 400 Cooking. Final recipe that put me over the top was Peach Tarts (I've still got about half a dozen new recipes to add to the marketplace). Now I just need to go back and get all the ingredients I missed and try combining them all :-)
I dub thee Master Chef of Gaiscioch. Now off the kitchen and cook us some more grub. =D After your efforts with cooking in beta, this doesn't surprise me you would be first at cooking 400. However, already?! Awesome job!

Wow! Congratulations. I've started leveling my crafting with jewler and leather worker. But I must admit that cooking scares me...lol. And I love to cook in real life. I think maybe it is the thought of having to travel all over Tyria to find all the ingredients... lol !

It wasn't too bad overall, but that might be because I didn't spend much at any given time. I used the karma vendors along the way and tried to discover recipes along the way, which maximized my return experience-wise. When I did find a new karma vendor out in the wild, I would buy the bulk bags so that when I got back to Lion's Arch I could definitely discover as many of the recipes as I could. Along the way, I occasionally found relatively easy recipes to grind on for cheap (I still have something like 80 Bowls of Roux in the bank). The final 150 points or so would've taken me a few more days if the Trading Post hadn't come up and allowed me to buy a ridiculous number of Peaches for a few copper each. I couldn't figure out why someone would sell such a high-level mat for so little until I noticed that vendors will no longer accept the vast majority of cooking materials for sale (I think to close off the karma:coin conversion that was happening). Of course, that means that cooking materials in particular will remain extremely cheap on the Trading Post for the immediate future simply because of supply and demand; when you have 8,000 karma then buy a bulk karma item for say 38 karma for a pack of 25 you don't mind selling it on the TP for 4 copper each and an impressive profit margin. For the final push, I used a Crafting Boost I'd received from my daily, which is how I ended up level 51 (albeit in mostly level 40 gear). I still have several items I've never found, so there will still be more items submitted to the marketplace. I don't expect to see them available on the site for awhile though, since Cooking isn't one of those crafts that an approver can just look at and know it's right. For those wondering, the last few recipes I used (and will submit once I get back to a safe spot in game) were: Loaf of Banana Bread Turnip Casserole Chocolate Cherry Cake Loaf of Zucchini Bread Orange Coconut Bars Peach Cookie Plate of Steak & Asparagus Peach Tarts Now I'll have to start experimenting and trying to find out how to make those Banquets!
Along those same lines, is adding recipes supposed to move us along our artisan rank? I'm still sitting at 1,910 points of the 2,000 to advance from Apprentice Journeyman. If it would help with the approval of items I haven't submitted, I'd be more than happy to recreate the recipe to verify it for someone who can approve (I'm not sure what rank it takes to approve - it used to be listed on the site but I think that is no longer available).

yeah, just checked with Ben (had a different issue, but mentioned it) and recipes go to discovery. He also mentioned that approval isn't a rank so I'll be happy with my previous offer - if you need a recipe verified so you can approve it, let me know :-)
Congratulations! My main solo is also a cook... I'm not nearly as high still under 100 myself on my lvl 18 toon, but I'm completely addicted. I gather everything I can and find myself spending all my karma on ingredients when I come across vendor's selling them. I'll gladly spend an hour going through all my ingredients trying to find combinations to make something. So fun.
I really wish they let you craft from the materials in your bank though like Rift does. Having to pull out all my mats so I can invent things takes up alot of space.
Maybe they will get there. Isn't the crafting from bank relatively new in Rift?
