Greetings!
I'm pleased to announce that the Gaiscioch Competitive Flag-Football Team in Portland, Oregon has made a huge comeback this season. We got off to a rocky start, losing the majority of our early games but came together found the right players for the team and won our way into the championship. In our first playoff game we played a team the fought us to the end just a few weeks ago. We won that game by just a couple points.
The game started out with bad news. Our Quarterback injured his spine where he had the metal vertebrae's inserted and would not be able to come. We're still waiting on the results of his x-rays. For those that did not know, Tony is clinically paralyzed but manages to walk by using pain in his feet to know when to throw his legs forward. Read more about Tony's story on our Gaiscioch Football site. This was tough news as Anthony carried us throught he later half of the season with his golden arm. Well the Gaiscioch pulled together and decided we'd win this one for Tony in hopes he could be back for the championship.Â
So yours truely stepped in as QB coming off the bench. With my injured calf still not totally healed running was out of the question so I was best fit to step into the role. The Gaiscioch brought the pain to the field wracking up 83 points and stopped the other team at every possession only allowing 28 points to be scored. We picked off 6 passes, 3 of which retuned for touchdowns. Foghladha threw 10 touchdowns and completed 5 extrapoints.Â
Next week the Gaiscioch's leader Foghladha has a very special game ahead. Not only is it the championship but in addition his daughter Alexandria will be in town to watch. We pray for the speedy recovery of Tony and hope he's better by the championship game. He made this team what we've become and he should carry our team to victory. All I gotta say is I don't know how long my gimp arm will hold up lol. Man does it hurt today. I'm a lefty now... Hurry back Tony!
Foghladha
