Excalibur server ATM.

Anyone have a clue when they will lift this to make new characters on this server anyone know.?

I like to join you all since were the mass group is heading, don't want to join another world then have to pay to transfer if the server pop. is opened up. ???

Not a clue. Over the weekend it was very hard to get a character made honestly. Now that I have one made, with their current limitations, while trying to figure out some background aspects, Excalibur is not able to be logged into period.

That is the most locked down I have seen the servers since open beta.  

Character creation was open for about an hour and a half at the start of early access, closed off until after the emergency maintenance, then open for a few hours.  From this I'd almost say the next emergency access will open up character creation for a bit, but could open earlier during a period of lighter access.

A few of us have created characters on other servers for when we cannot log onto Excalibur, so you wouldn't be the only one with a random alt out there somewhere.

If it makes you feel any better, I haven't been able to log into Excalibur at all, even having characters there (as the world is constantly full). 

I've resigned myself to playing on a JP server until things calm down or they get the servers playing nice.

I just pre-ordered today (late to the party) but look forward to joining up with everyone on Exaclibur once that becomes an option.

The EU/NA servers are packed, for sure.  I rolled an archer on a Japanese server tonight and there's relatively few people on.  There was a short queue on the NA Lamia server, but it was so packed when I got in I could barely click on the quest giver!  Hopping back to a Japanese server until the madness dies down!

Marrra and I have an alt on Ixion/JP server purely for these moments now. I plan on just testing out classes that I hadn't tried yet and leaving crafting mostly to my main.

I was in Raidcall around 11 am PST and had a nice chat with Conner and a few others that had made it in-game. I waited for about 30 minutes but couldn't get onto Excalibur so I finally went back to the Japanese server I was playing on for the past few days.

At this rate I may be staying on Tiamat server. My Gladiator has just hit Level 16 and I'll be taking a second class for her soon.

Game release is less than 7 hours away so that will make congestion worse, and then this weekend is the US Labor Day weekend which means "you ain't seen nothin' yet", lol.

I created a couple of characters on Japanese servers.  It is a nice way to see the other opening cities.  I don't want to put too much effort into my Japanese toon because I really just want one character.

Last night about 11:00 Pacific time, I finally got into Excalibur.  The good news is that the duties that had been bugged were fixed. 

Tonight I can't get onto the server again.

With all that is happening lately and Marrra and I not wanting to bounce from alt to Excalibur and back again, we've decided we'll play our toons on Excalibur once everything is fixed and not before then just to be safe. Until then, we'll be on our alts on Ixion. We'll obviously be around here and.. well.. question then would be: Do LinkShells go cross server?

EDIT: Oh, even if it could, we'd be on a different data server.

Jay's post here has a link to what Yoshi released on the subject of character creations this past weekend.  Included in this is a very small queue with tightly controlled log in limitations, resulting in the 1017 errors that people keep hitting.  Couple all of that with no automatic log-out system for AFK time-outs, and its "Tokyo, we have a problem."

I can tell you, for a fact, that they are hoping that people and groups will leave the higher populated servers and move to lower populated servers.  Yoshi pretty much admits to that.  Their failing point, is that Legacy players can NOT switch to ... well anything.  They're stuck where they are and this forcing of voluntary sever changes is just going to split up friends and communities, which is NOT something that I have ever condoned or supported (refer to my earlier blasts at Zenimax for their choice of a multi-platform release which results in separated platform servers, as example).

I feel that with all of my experience, I should have some ideas to offer folks, but I have nothing.  This is all on Squeenix because of decisions they have made.  I understand that they want their servers secure and sound, but there is a point where they have to realize that this is a GAME and people just want to play with friends and have fun, not deal with all this frustrating bullcrap of being locked out of the server they want to play on.

edit: Don't count on transfers back to Excalibur.  If they are doing this to ensure their server stability, you can bet that they will not be allowing transfers from lower pop servers to higher pop servers, at any time in the near future .  If you create on another world, just accept that will be where you stay.  :(

I'd like to play with as many guildies as possible. Is there a second server most us can agree on to play on when we can't get on Exacilbur? I have never once seen Exacilbur even available to pick from. Briin and I have characters on Faerie (NA) but are willing to switch to be with more guildies. I see from other posts Lamia (NA) seems like common second choice, should we try there for now?

This is very frustrating for those of you who were not able to get on Excalibur, and at this point I too would start working on my character on whatever other server and treat it as my main not a time filler, BUT I still wouldn't give up hope of getting on the server later on down the road.

Seems to me that all the legacy servers are too full and maybe they will open a new legacy server and allow free transfers to there which could see the Excalibur population ease up, just speculation but it would make sense wouldn't it. 

My point is we don't know what is going to happen down the road and I am a glass is half full person, so have fun on your character, play the game, try to group up together on one agreed server, but don't give up hope of moving to join Excalibur sometime down the road. I bet server populations will be very different in a couple of months.

I'm kinda in the same boat at this point. By the time I get home at night, Excalibur is full. While I know these are growing pains and things will more than likely get better over time, my off-time is precious and I don't want to spend the next week/month/whatever staring at error messages, beating my head against a door trying to get in.

If folks are gathering on a temporary low-pop server, I'd love to join some company while we wait for Excal to cool down. 

@Kitasha - I was just talking about those that haven't got a char on Exc yet. The log in is getting way easier, I didn't wait more than 20 mins yesterday and a few times I got straight in (I know sounds hilarious to say 'oh only 20 mins to log on awesome!' but it is a huge improvement over the fiasco on Sunday) but yea when time is precious you gotta do what it takes to have fun with the game.

Maybe Hex or one of the Officers will allow us to form an "Unofficial" overflow low population Japanese server to all play on until the chaos dies down ? New character creation is currently not allowed on most of the US Servers atm.

I just found out about the game last week and started playing for the first time today.  Getting into Excalibur wasn't possible, created a new character on another NA server (Siren, I think) but couldn't log in, so created a second character and put her on the JP server Ixion. I think. I logged out to look and now it's not loading the JP server list or characters on it. Still, seems interesting so far. :) Got my char up to level 10 - Hel Rylsa.

Briin and I have characters on Ixion as well. We also have what we were hoping to be our mains currently on Lamia because we can't make a character on Exacilbur yet. If anything, we'd be doing stuff with the Saighdear on Excalibur more than the JP server as we're just testing things like other classes.

I have edited the title of the post, because there is no confirmation whatsoever that Excalibur is permanently locked.  Once we get a confirmed dev forum post that this is the case, then we will post it.

The situation is that most NA servers are still experiencing heavy loads and log-in errors. They seem to have fixed the in-game experience, so that if you do log on, you can use duty finder etc. The 90000 and 3012 errors have been fixed and the servers stable for the past 2 days.

We do not have the resources at this time to start other chapters on other servers and split everyone up.  If people choose to play on other servers then by all means do so, whatever allows you to enjoy your game time the most.

Currently we have 95% of our players with characters created on Excalibur. Some choose not to log on til it has calmed down, others are able to log in with extreme perseverence.  This evening, reported wait time was under an hour for some, but it really is just luck, I think.  That is comparable to both Rift and GW2 during launch week. I know that does not make it any easier.  I along with all of you, have gotten very annoyed spamming my zero key over and over. But at least it is a little better than it was 3 days ago.

However, the problem still arises with character creation.  We have new people slowly filtering on to the server, which means it is "1% chance possible" but not "easy" or "convenient" for people who work and have busy schedules. Or what you would expect from a product you have paid to play.

If you happen to miss the random window for creation, effectively you will never even see the server name come up on the list. They seem to be rotating them, and we cannot figure out a pattern. At the moment, from what I can gather up to the time of writing this, the creation is "suspended" but not "locked forever". Some JP servers are totally full, but we are not quite there yet, afaik.

The launch for NA has been managed horribly by SE, and fixing the situation is not something in my or anyone else's power.  It really sucks to have to say it, but I do not have a magic wand or answer here.

74 of us are on the server so far. For those who missed out, I ask you to try to hang in there, but if you cannot, and choose a different home, then I completely understand. We had a similar situation (although not as bad) in GW2, where SOR was locked down for character creation after the first week.  We will at this stage take the same course of action that Fog did back then, which is to wait a week and re-asses then.

Please also remember that this is not a main GSCH chapter, and we have no connection to or dialogue directly with the devs.  We are a small FFXIV fan based guild, not a mega-guild like GSCH, which means we do not have a voice or a say in this.  We cannot "pull strings" to get people onto the server. Fog also does not have direct connections with Square Enix.

My personal opinion is that in a week or so this will have died down considerably...all we can do is wait and see. This launch has been so messed up and crazy that I cannot predict anything. But until I see a post saying Excalibur is definitely locked, I live in hope for those people not on the server yet. I apologise to those people for the frustrating and annoying experience they are having.

FYI, I was up this morning and logged in about 2 minutes after the maintenance ended. I was wondering if it would be possible to sneak a new character onto Excalibur right away so I tried to create a new character and there were only ("only"!) 6 or so NA servers locked. Unfortunately, all of the Legacy servers were still locked for new toons.

I'm one of the few who can't log in. and even if I could I wouldn't have much time to play anyway with all the OT i'm putting in. so I'm just waiting and biding my time. my free subscription is still good for another 32 days. plus I have my PS2 and every Final Fantasy game from 1 to 10-2 to fill my current Final Fantasy Addiction. 

to everyone else. I feel your pain and fully sympathize with you all but I'm sure Excal will open up eventually we just have to be patient I know it's hard. but if you need a fix for Final Fantasy, dust off your old play station or favorite computer emulator

well mass group wasnt meant not GSCH size but still large in that manner I am aware also that no strings are being pulled just wonder if anyone had heard stuff since I suck at forum searching for info and I know other are great at it. Which I thank those that are great with Forum searching...

As sad as it's made me, I'll be letting my active membership lapse at the end of Early Access, and will hold onto my game code. I don't feel like wasting my 30 free days on login errors, server queues, and not even being able to play.

I'll be watching the forums here for when folks can log in reliably and create characters properly, and then I'll be back around. 

I have a toon on (JP) Ixion Kadresh Brune and another on Coqorel (sP) Nightfall Duskhammer. I have been playing nightfall the most trying to get him to 30 ACN to start the summoner job.  If excalibur ever opens up ill send Nightfall to there but ill probably keep Kadresh on Ixion for those days that the NA servers are hard to log on or unavailable.

No, Excalibur is not permanently locked.  Folks should keep an eye on the Lodestone for updates called "Regarding Character Creation and Login Restrictions".  If you do not see Excalibur on the latest updated server listing, then go create your toon ASAP!
