IFRIT at 6pm PST Week 1 of Release

Ifrit is a boss you need to kill to advance your story quest. Your story quest is denoted by a flaming icon around the ! in your questlog.


Sometimes, it is a bit of a wait for dpsers to queue for this instanced fight.


Gibsauce and I are going to make ourselves available from 6pm until 7PM pst, for the first week of release (every day except Monday) for anyone needing to get this done who has been unable to complete it or find a group.


You do not need to "book in" just log into the game and whisper Hex Estrella or Phobos Prime and we will form a group with you and get it done.


Please have your story questline completed up to the "flamey quest" called "Bowl of Embers". We will use raidcall too, so having access to that would also be a good idea.
If you are not sure what you have to do for the fight, don't worry, we will explain it and answer questions beforehand.


The flamey quests are important because they unlock instances, your chocobo mount, grand company, auction house, materia slotting and many other things of awesome in the game.


Healers and tanks should have no problem making a FC group, or using duty finder.


(You don't have to feel obliged to run it with us if you are a dpser, we just figured it may assist some players in advancing their story line.)


Note to Oceanic Players: we also play Oceanic times if you need us!

Ahhh, this is sort of the event leading I was talking about in an earlier thread. I guess individuals within the FC can make their own weekly or w.e style of events. No pressure to lead anything under obligation! Ahhh. Yes. 

If I'm still on Excalibur I'll be there. I'm thinking of joining the ZAM community on Ultros. Still deciding...

ZAM is pretty awesome!

I had a lot of fun with members of the ZAM community back in the FFXI days (when it was still called "Allakhazam").

Zam are great, more of a "Full-time gamer" crew with mega events. Have fun on Ultros if you end up there :)

I'm still pondering what I will be playing but usually I work it out after Marrra picks what she plays. Normally I heal and she tanks; in the past I used to tank and want to try that again (when I started healing, gave up my tanking cap and gave to Marrra :D).

If DPSers are harder to find, I think maybe I should listen to my mind and work out going for a Dragoon ;)

I will though HAVE to level a Paladin/WhiteMage tho :P

By all means, Momo, play wherever or with whomever is going to afford you the most fun.  Its a game, so it would be silly to play a game and not have fun.  ;)  

Although it does help to sometimes get out of your comfort zone.  Personally, I have bad social anxiety, so I avoid PUGs, especially for Dungeons and Raids because I'm very uncomfortable unless I'm with players that I am familiar with.  Same goes for joining large guilds, which seems ironic, but is an example of forcing myself out of my comfort zone.

But this arrangement is what I'd consider "optimal" for me to have fun in, if it was more like GSCH in GW2 then ... well, I liked the events once I forced myself to participate, but I didn't really have "fun" until several months had passed and I got to know the regular participants more.

So yea, "what's fun" is uniquely personal to each of us, so go chase it.  ;)

Actually the issue with DPS is always the longer queues to do anything because there is plenty of DPS.  I got lucky with the first two dungeons and the queue wasn't too bad and neither popped when I was in a major fight.  At least you can run around doing other things while waiting for your queues.

I'll take you up on this offer because I rather play with you guys anyway, especally since I haven't in a LONG time.  =)  I just have to do Copper Bell first and whatever other little things are between that and Ifrit.  I don't know the fight with him because I did not get that far in Beta 3 weekend I got to do.  I did get past all the dungeons and into some of the stuff right after that.

I won't be on too much Saturday or Sunday due to family in town.  Probably later on Sunday will be the start of my big hoorah.  I might pop in to the pyjama party, but not sure when I'm getting up and when people will be here for breakfast.  I know they won't be here at 5AM my time when it starts, but not sure when I'll wake up.  ;)

Oh and any other tanks who want to show up at 6 could help out by making groups for this as they have time.  No pressure, only if you feel like it :P

I shall be around that first week and would be willing to queue up as another tank. Got GLD to 20 and CNJ to 15 and would definitely rather do these with guildies!

I am a bit behind instance/story wise atm so this weekend I would be up for doing Deepcroft and Copperbell a few times with people too.

Ah that was what I was expecting of this.. Marrra and I used to Tank and Heal duo in WoW and hence got really quick queues in the dungeon finder. I am torn what I want to play here. In most games, I always LOVE to be a healer but I also love tanking at times (hence why I love Paladins in most games :P).

I was planning on a Lancer as the character name I will try to use (Javadoc) was my LotRO Hobbit Warden and thought it was a good thing to set him on his way. But after watching some videos, I am unsure if I go against the grain at least at first before I swap class later :P

Topaz Carbuncle, I'm not kidding.  I'm thinking that SE decided to implement a tank alternative via a pet class.  Not much has been known about Arcanist, its never been tested and evaluated since it didn't appear until last weekend.  

Everquest set the standard for pet tanks (Magician, Earth) and even developed some raid content around the need for one.  Yoshi-san is an ex-EQ player, and folks have commented that they do find familiar Everquest inspirations in the game.

Apologies, due to Duty Finder being broken today, we did not run this.  We will be available Tuesday - Friday to run it :)
