So excalibur is full already? Anyone else having a problem getting in?
I'm having a problem. at least i'm not the only one who's left out in the cold

Yea I'm sat at world selection screen now and Excalibur is full, what server did you guys who couldn't get in go to instead? Did it open up for you later on Gorad, not sure if to wait or just choose a random server. Are they upping the limit periodically, or does it go by how many are currently in world?
ETA: I've made a character on Balmung so I can at least run around and try out Arcanist, name is J'majha Qhulu, and will try later to get my archer made on Excalibur. I chose Balmung as that seems to be the unofficial RP server for both new and legacy players.
ETA again! I got my archer made on Excalibur now, just tried refreshing a few times over half an hour or so and Excalibur came up, have to go out now but will catch you guys on Raidcall later on.

I haven't chosen one yet. but I think i'll head to Lev if Excal doesn't open up soon
From what I'm seeing on their twitter, it looks like servers are being opened and closed to new characters to funnel people into other servers. I'm planning to just monitor the twitter feed & keep refreshing the server list till Excalibur opens up. World transfers won't be open for 3 or more weeks after launch from what I've read.
I made a character on Balmug as well since Excalibur is full. Will see if I can get into the other server as the day goes on. :)

I managed to make a character on Excalibur... name is Dhen Sunblade.
on again off again... finally managed to make my wife's toon. crisis averted.
SE are doing exactly what Bivrip said: closing and opening servers in an effort to channel players away from popular destinations. It may be inconvenient, but keep trying, especially during off peak times. We have a sister fc on Sargatanas if anyone really cannot get in. Personally, I would keep trying every so often. The same thing happened with SOR when GW2 was released, but eventually everyone got in.
We had new members join 5 mins before this post who got in, so keep trying :)
If you're just trying out the game to see if you like it, I'd suggest just creating a toon on an open server and trying things out. That way you're not frustrated by wasting your time trying to get onto Excal. Folks are in Raidcall, they can answer your questions. Everything in the game is soloable, especially at the low levels, so you should not find yourself stuck with no help, its just a PTT away. ;)
Its a short Beta period, they've capped the level limit to 20, so you will not be losing a lot of work, maybe a few hours tops. Plus you'll have the freedom to try things out, delete what you don't like, etc, without feeling that obligation to keep your progress. Be aware that folks only need ONE character for this game, so you'll probably want to test and tweak things just perfectly, so you can create a keeper when you can get on Excalibur.
Its a stress test, and they're also funneling folks around trying to balance out populations, so I'm sure that you might find issues on Launch day, but not as much as this weekend, so don't get discouraged.
well if I can't get into Excal this weekened. (been trying every hour on the hour) I'll shoot for the launch date
I think you have had bad luck Valt, we have had several people who were locked out get in today. I think the trick is to endure the pain and persevere. Eventually you will get on, and from then on you are sorted and on the right server. Try during off peak hours, but tbh we have had players get in during peak time as well. Seems like luck more than anything.
I know i'll get in eventually. till then I can play around on Lev with different class's
Finally got a toon made on excal this morning. Now time for work so i can hurry home to play!!!!
I'm on the same boat with Valt... been trying for about 24 hours sometimes every hour - sometimes sooner and Excal never shows as "letting in". Always closed off. I'll keep trying, but at one point very earlier this a.m. all servers were accepting ECEPT for Excal and one other Legacy server - every other server was available - was a tad disconcerting at that point - knowing most of NA were sleeping but the server was still locked.
But I will keep trying although I may not get any time to actually check out the game If I can't get into Excal during the headstart then I will locate to another server and level up a character then keep requesting a transfer once that feature goes live.
Morigana, try tonight after Club G (if Fog is still doing those). Its been open for new characters during the early AM (Pacific timezone). AFAIK they are flood controlling based on concurrent connections, not total # of characters that have been made on the server.

I may have spoken too soon. They added some new JPN/NA/EU worlds at midnight PDT and suspended new character creations for all existing servers. I do not know when they will re-open Excalibur.

Yea it isn't coming up at all now. I did get my character made on Excalibur but wanted to tweak some appearance settings after I got in world that I didn't like, so I deleted her and remade, and well durr.... not happening lol
Oh well, I will be joining you all at some point, it's all good.
Yeah - no luck for me at all and right now there are only two servers open out of all of them (one EU and one NA) .... good for their game :) but bad for me :(
Hopefully I can get in the first few minutes of pre-start - hopefully they will have them all open again.
On one hand I understand their logic but on the other hand I think they might be doing a disservice to the community if they keep up with this policy. A lot of people won't get to play with the people they want to and when they do allow server transfers and people can transfer off of the servers they were "funneled" to - then it could leave some servers deserted which is exactly what they are attempting to avoid. It is a tightrope I would not want to walk if I was in their shoes.
I was able to get a character made on Excalibur yesterday morning so hopefully when I log in later today I can ask for an invite. :) I understand about only needing one character but will I run out of quests for leveling? I was thinking about having two...one for magic and one for melee.

According to the twitter updates, character creation has been suspended on numerous servers, Excalibur being one of them. I suspect this is because the 3102 bug is leaving players logged in so it seems servers are full when they are not. On a positive note, several JP servers have been labelled as perma full, whereas Excalibur is temporarily restricted until the errors are fixed. There is still hope for those who did not make a toon yet. I recommend keeping an eye on the twitter feed as the forums keep going down. At least they are now posting regular twitter updates.
Well, I have to admit that I was wrong when I said, in another thread, that creating a toon on Excalibur would not be as difficult as some folks were worried about. In my defense, I didn't realize there would be technical issues at the heart of it, much less that SE would be playing traffic cop to the extremes that they have been. I've launched all of the popular and mega-hyped games in the past, and I have to say that this level of traffic copping is unprecedented, especially for an Open Beta.

Have fun all! I'm sorry I won't be able to be gaming with you all as it looks like the servers with the highest population won't be unlocked easily at all.
I got really hyped to play with GSCH again and now figuring out what server I want to be on when I can't play with the family members I want to play with.
I sorry to hear that Jay, especially since you were on, then tried to reroll. Don't feel too bad about doing that though, because they locked down the server within an hour of it opening and a lot of people who were still fighting congestion to get on and create, were unable to create when they finally got through.
Maybe... you can petition to have your character restored. Just tell Customer Service that you made a mistake, you thought that you were deleting a character on another server. I'm sure you've made another one by now, so the story would hold water at a glance. ;)

I actually had a ticket up but wouldn't have known if that would have been accepted (Support FAQ states they do do restores as long as name not taken) but they only check the emails Mon->Fri. I closed that ticket, obviously.
heh, well it all worked out, glad to see you got sorted and are now back in business. :)
Hopefully no one else will delete their character anytime in the near future, either. (tempted to make that text large, bold, rainbow and flashing with audible sirens) ;)
