I own the game, but i haven't even finsihed chapter 1. I've got a level 20 Warrior presearing and a level 13 elementalist still doing missions in ascalon. I'd really like to play through all the missions to learn more about the history and of course i want to get lots of points for HoM. Right now i don't have a lot of time to play, but as soon as RL isn't so demanding anymore i'd appreciate your help and insights. Thank you for the offer.

I have all the xpacs and want to complete my HoM, but I just can't seem to find the time. My main there is Tabitha Wannara, but I've been thinking about starting again from scratch, because I am totally lost for where she is currently at.

I popped on to GW1 a few weeks ago just for the heck of it. I was runnin along when I came upon an obstacle. Now imagine my surprise when I was unable to jump over it! LOL Loved GW1. May just have to go back some day and re-roll a character to start over just for old times sake.

For those of us who are considering GW1 for the first time, can anyone recommend a 'solid' class to play? I'm having a hard time playing my Mesmer in GW2, and have been focusing more on the Guardian). I don't know what classes are available in GW1, or which one class would be easy to learn/play.

Garyc, the classes in GW1 are: Assassin (Factions) Dervish (Nightfall) Elementalist (Core) Mesmer (Core) Monk (Core) Necromancer (Core) Paragon (Nightfall) Ranger (Core) Ritualist (Factions) Warrior (Core) The Core classes were from the original Prophecies chapter and are available in all Chapters, the two I labeled Factions were added with the Factions chapter and are only available for Factions and later versions, and the two Nightfall were added with the Nightfall Chapter and only available in Nightfall and later. Now if you have all 3 chapters and you create a character of a class from a later version you can take that character to the earlier chapters. IE a Nightfall Dervish can be brought to Prophecies or Factions but you can not create a Dervish in those 2 chapters. Every character can have up to two classes at the same time. Examples - Ele/Ranger, Monk/Warrior. Each class has a lot more skills to choose from than they do in GW2 so there is a lot of mixing and matching. As for easy to learn or play, that is hard to say. My first was an elementalist which I enjoyed a lot but my favorite was a Ritualist. Hope this answers some of your questions.

Garyc, Mine is a Rit/Ranger but for the life of me I can't really say why because all the skills I chose to use are Rit skills. Now if I were to set up a support build I would probably go with Monk as secondary. I guess it all depends on your own personal play style and preference. Keep in mind each profession has 4 or 5 different attributes you can chose to use and each attribute has it's own set of 15-20 or more skills associated to it. The more points you assign to an attribute the more effective the skills associated to that attribute. You only have a limited amount of points you can assign to attributes so you have to be careful not to spread them too thin or all your skills become less effective. Also all skills are not immediately available but are earned as you progress. Elite skills are acquired by beating bosses within the game. There were some good "Build" web sites out there that were really helpful and the Guildwiki was a great friend. I can find and provide links for you if you would like them.

Sly, If the links are readily available, I'd like to see a Ritualist build. Monk also sounds good. My main on Gw2 is a Ranger.

Where would a returning player begin? I don't recall the game, I log in, hit information overload, can't figure out what to do or where to go, so do a little googling, then get distracted and log off. I've only played Prophecies, but I have everything. I think that Tabitha made it to Lions Arch, but I'm not really sure where she's at right now, she's only 14. So what would be the best "new player" experience to begin with?

I would say if you don't remember where you were in the story that you should start fresh. One thing I do remember from GW1 is that armor is not level bound at all, so many players playing alts would play until they got close to leaving Ascalon then would pay people to run them to Beacon's Perch and then from Beacon;s Perch down to Droknar's Forge where they could buy max stat armor. I have no idea if they still do this, but I used to make some money making the quick run from Yak's Bend over to Beacon's Perch. Took me like 5 minutes and I grabbed them Ice Tooth Cave on the run and running 4 people it was fairly profitable. I greatly enjoyed the original game but lost interest during the first expansion. I may reinstall it for fun and run around as a near perfect looking Robin(as in Batman's Sidekick) spent a lot of time finding the right armor pieces to make it look perfect. I'd also be interested in starting a new character if there were others doing the same to run the story missions with since they require a well composed 5 man group.

I was just on GW1 to see how to add friends and it looks like you need the person's toon name. I have a pre-searing person named Brianna Kiel. My after pre-searing person is Aurial Kiel. I have several others, but looks like you just need 1 toon and you should be good with whatever toon the person is on. My pre-searing I am leaving there because I am trying to get the achievment would love people to run with on both sides.

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page This is a great GW1 guide for most GW1 questions. http://gwpvx.gamepedia.com/PvX_wiki This is the 'build' guide I used most often. Keep in mind though that this guide is more for high end builds that require skills from all 3 chapters and the Eye of the North expansion. I'm afraid it would be pretty much useless for the beginner or someone that has not acquired a lot of skills.

Sekkerhund, All 3 chapters offer a New player area that helps players learn how to play. My personal preference would be the Prophecies beginning area. Nightfall has the advantage offered by Heros. These are NPCs that you can develop, arm, and adjust skills on as you see fit. I believe you get a warrior and a monk almost immediately. Others you gain as you play through. In the other two chapters you can select NPCs to join you but you have no control over what weapons or skills they use. I should add that you do not have access to these NPCs in Prophecies until after you leave the new player area.

TY for the links, I didn't have those yet. I'm mostly just interested in completing the HoM stuff to unlock my GW2 rewards, I think at this point its not really time well spent to get into GW1 full time. I did find some HoM guides, walkthroughs, etc, but they might as well be written in Greek, there's 2-1/2 Chapters that I've never played.

Garyc - you're not bound to a server in GW1. Once you create a toon and log in, the system puts you on a default server based on your IP. You can hop between servers (called Districts) freely using a dropdown menu from the ingame UI, so it's easy to meet up with friends. This page gives a pretty good summary : http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/District

Well I see some of you have a few areas you would like to work on and I have a few friends from my guild in GW1 that said they would more than happy to help out we can have up to 8 in a team. I see some need to finish mission's in hard mode that's not a problem we all have completed missions in normal and hard. and the ones that have 3 swords on the town we all have and most of us have vanished all campaigns except for tyria cause it has 54 areas and in most of them you can only take a team of 4. and the elite missions that have a team of 12 we have done those has well sometimes in record time and sometimes not, So lets try and plan a date-time that fits your time schedule and I can tell the guys when and we can get you all squared away, we have all the cons and buffs you'll need so don't worry. hope to hear from you soon Take care...Blades in not out...and my favorite "All for one and One for All" C-ya
