First Gaiscioch Supported RaidCall Patch now in Testing

Hey Everyone,

RaidCall has asked us to test the new version of RaidCall currently in beta. It has some of our requested features including a Guild Wars 2 overlay. Go ahead and download it at:

My contact says that sometimes when updating from certain version of raidcall it may not override the overlay.dll and they are working on a fix to make sure it does. I have the overlay.dll available if anyone finds it does not allow them to use the overlay support for GW2. Just send me an email and I'll forward over the directions and dll file.

So far so good. At least with this version I don't have to start it twice each time to get it to run. :)

I completely uninstalled Raidcall, did a Local Disk (C:) file search for Raidcall and removed all the files and folders it found. Then I installed the test client and it looks like Overlay is working, even in 'Windowed Fullscreen' mode (for which the manual fix wouldn't work). edit: I guess I should add that this is habit from my MS testing days. A clean install of the app helps avoid confusion of issues that occur with a mismatch of settings and/or data files.

Installed fine for me.

Overlay worked just fine without a clean install for me. I popped in briefly, saw an invite from Izzy, but wasn't in a chatty mood - so will pop in there at PvE Campaign time :)

I edited my post. I didn't have to clean install, I just do that out of professional habit, especially if its a beta app. My time is better spent more pew pew, less "omg why won't it work, must fix!"

Hey, Fog. I thought of a suggestion yesterday, but forgot to email it to you. I think there should be a way to change the sizing of text in the program. I only think of this due to my laptop that makes it TINY but I don't want to change my whole comeputer because everything else is fine or adjustable via windows 8. First thing I thought of was that the choice of text size for the chat window should make it all appear the size you want, not based on the size others want. When people use small chat, I honestly have to get closer to my laptop than usual and I have no eye issues. Second, I would like to see the ability to change font size in the channel lists. The size of the rest I can deal with.

I installed the patch, and I no longer have to launch the app twice for it to actually launch, and the overlay seems to function properly without any manual intervention. Nice fix.

I have to add my agreement with Briseadh on the font size. When others choose a small font, it just kills my old lady eyes. I'd like to be able to choose a font for all chat text that works for me. Thanks!

Works great for me! I couldn't use overlay in the older version as it caused my computer to crash. So far no problems with the beta.

I have not yet been able to get this to run, so my apologies of this is something that everyone but me is aware of. Something we are currently struggling with is so many members being split between multiple guild channels. I frequently find myself in the situation where I am a member of only one of the in-game guilds and communication is very difficult because of the large proportion of people not representing the guild I am in and thus unable to communicate via in game guild chat. Since RaidCall has a text chat interface, and we are now testing the GW2 overlay for RaidCall, is there the capability to have a LFG/events announcement text chat overlay?

Text chat is accessible in the overlay. The chat window is not open by default, but there is a new text notification.

You should be able to click on the text icon and type in the text box. Also I could have sworn there was a way to resize the overlay, which resizes the text, too. I'll have to play with it later, I don't usually use RC unless there's an event or group.

Ok, that is pretty neat. Whenever I get this new version working I will log into it, put myself in a no voice chat mode (I usually cannot do voice chat due to a number of circumstances) and try it out.

Since I am just chilling at home and putzing with stuff while I wait for my gf to get home I tried again and got it working. We can use chat in the overlay, which is nice. We can even change channels from the overlay, which is also nice. As things currently stand, someone could go to the GW2 lounge and see chat scroll by there. Is there a way to have a chat channel for everyone in the super group (i.e. create a GW2 LFG chat channel that people can access from the overlay)? If someone posts a new announcement, will it be seen from the chat overlay? Is it possible for someone to have permission to broadcast chat to all channels or to all channels within a supergroup (i.e. all sub-channels inside GW2)? If any of these things are possible, it may be a better way to do the following until we have an in-game alliance chat system: 1) Be able to more easily do or see people looking for/forming groups no matter what GW2 channel you are in 2) Allow people who are running an event to let everyone in a GW2 channel know that said event is about to start

Bump for people having issues.

I'm noticing that parts of it "disappear" and "re-appear" when I mouse over various areas, not sure how to fix that. I run GW2 in Windowed Fullscreen mode, really don't want to run Fullscreen for several reasons. Its like a 2D draing glitch centered around the focus of the mouse cursor. I also notice that I can see two cursors: the game cursor and the Windows cursor (or default cursor for overlay if there is one) when I mouse over the Overlay's area. Had this same problem with the old "workaround" overlay trick, thought it was just due to the hack job at the time.

Lots of weird errors logging in today, including: "you have been kicked for group" [advertising] lol Not so much an issue as a suggestion: Is it possible to run the overlay w/o the game? I run Raidcall on a 2nd pc because it is convenient that way for me but don't get the overlay if I use the Shift-Tab. When I ran dual monitor I did the same but Raidcall didn't play well with dual monitors for me. You may ask, why do you need the overlay if it's in its own screen? Well, when the number of people in a channel is larger than the space you cannot tell who is talking. (and for me this is the time I need it most since more of the voices are likely to be unfamiliar) In lieu of that some means of indicating who is talking when the speaker is not in the visible area of the scrolled list would be nice. Such as a "bubble" open microphones to the top of list option or an "active speaker indicator" in the status where it shows which channel you are in or on the Raidcall taskbar icon.

The only issue that I've had with it so far is that it will start up with Windows and I don't have that feature selected. Other than that, no problems.
