Finally gave in and started my Pokemon journey along with the missus about 5 days ago. It's turning out to be a rather good exercise program. Has been quite the crash course though trying to figure out the game, with surprisingly little info out there for a game out for over a month (or perhaps I'm simply not looking in the right places).
Currently up to my armpits in Rattatas and Pidgeys, running low on Pokeballs, and having fun throwing on the running shoes any time a new Pokemon shows up on the radar near my house.
Proudest Catch - A high level (for me) Pidgeot that was my very first difficult capture. Had no berries to my name yet and didn't even know if it was possible to catch a pokemon with a red circle with just regular Pokeballs, but wound up my curveballs and went for it anyway. He broke out a few times, but I was ultimately successful. A few more days on and a number of additional levels to my trainer, and that Pidgeot is currently still my 2nd highest level pokemon caught so far.
Most Embarrasing Failure - An average level Weedle. Hit it with a perfect curveball first shot, and from past experience it should have been an easy capture, but to my surprise he broke free and then immediately took off in a cloud of dust. If my phone hadn't been on silent, I'm quite certain I would have heard that Weedle laughing at me as it disappeared.
Edit: Oh, and if they introduce global trading in the future, I'll see what I can do about smuggling some Kangaskhan out of the country.
