News from: MMORPG.com

MMOs have evolved in many ways, but sometimes players want to sit down and enjoy a good multi-course meal spiced with good conversation, music, a couple of drinks, and spending time with one another over a quick fast food stop. Leveling speed is a topic for debate, and it's been brought up as both a positive and a negative aspect from the press impressions for The Elder Scrolls Online.

I for one am very pro -harder,longer,slower,trying,punishing,complex, No shortcuts type leveling system.  That being said I kind of wish ESO was more so in all these catagories but ESO is still the best at these catagories of a game to come out in many many years. Im thrilled with how it works as is also.

I'm all for challenges, but as I have stated Elsewhere, I like to challenge myself in raids as well as large scale PvP. I want to get done leveling so I can enjoy those things. I believe in horizontal progression, not vertical.

@Soulshine - I don't tend to level very fast either.  Between no longer being able to play as much as I used to, usually leveling 2 chars (typically I like having a DPS and a healer), not leveling because I'm too busy crafting, and wanting to explore the world fully I'm sure I'll be one of the slowest to actually get to the cap.

@Soulshine - if we're on at the same times (although I'm in Australia so this may only happen on weekends) I definitely look forward to exploring/experiencing ESO with you. I've never really been in a rush to level and have always prefered exploring and trying out new things. I'm usually the dawdler behind the pack, and in some games that's meant that by the time I've gotten geared for raiding, updates have happened and the goal posts have moved hehe It would be nice to have someone like-minded to roam around with :)

My leveling speed is a bit of a balance I guess - I like to get to cap somewhat quickly so I can run end game content with the family but I do stop along the way to explore, level crafting, etc.

I think it would be best to have a leveling system that would be fast to about level 10 then becomes exponentially harder, so 1-10 takes about  20 hours of game play, then 10-20 takes about 400 and so on that would make a big difference when you are starting to get into PVP and would reward longer term players as most people would take many months to get to level 50.

I'm the explorer type and in this game I already know I'll want all them skyshards and other goodies as I go along because they help flesh the character out even faster than it would if you leveled only in AvA.  Also, I find that with my disability and just how I play anymore I'm way more of a PvE explorer than a PvP of any type.  I just can't always keep up!  Oh, I'll definitely go to AvA when we have organized things at times I feel up to it and it won't be too close to bedtime.  =)  If I lead any events it will probably be PvE things to help people get group things - there are a few fun things out there you aren't going to solo even in the open world.  I'll leave it at that.  ;)  And there is a ranking system that comes up after you hit max level for you to work through in more exploring and great things to do.

I know GW2 I had Been there Done that map completion done on my first toon in like 6 or so weeks.  I sure ain't doing that in this game!  Plenty to do and see people.  PLENTY!!!!

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

The great thing in ESO is the exploration, I don't mind waste half of my time just wandering Cyrodiil looking for a special crafting table, or going into public dungeons, that's the fun part of this MMO, eventually everybody gets to the cap.

Reading through the crafting poll post over there is a bit upsetting. For some of those people it is like they don't realise that not all people play these game for the "UBBER END GAME RAIDING!!!!!" I mean really it sounds like for some of these people there should be only raiding and nothing else. They make it sound like crafters will be able to just whip up the best gear without any work. That type of mentality is why I could never play WoW. If your not spec'd right, or have the right gear and play your role like a proffessional gamer you can't join our raid.

MMORPG Poll

Its a mixed bag if you start reading through the pages.  There are a lot of people like me I think that have been waiting for a game that doesn't treat crafting as a useless gear your alt part of a game.

On the other hand though are those that upset because you should only get great gear from raiding and nothing else.

@ Soulshine, I completely understand your points and they are very valid.  After playing a few games that have a heavy emphasis on raiding it just doesn't appeal to me.   When I played SWG I was happy to login and do nothing but craft for people.  When I wanted to explore I could easily find a group of guildies and go explore.  Most of the current games I have tried crafting is only good for your alt or guild alts.  If you don't keep up with everyone else pretty soon you find your self soloing because everyone is busy either a few levels ahead and trying to level for the raids or they are already raiding.

I just don't want to see ESO turned into a raiding elitist game.  I want to see exploring and being in the world an important facet of the game not just a do this part so you can get to end game.
