Camps are very defined. Love it...hate it.... but most are in between. In my opinion it is very much like DAOC. For the most part it is "zerg" driven. However if you like to min/max you can become a one man wrecking ball. There is also some ganking and those groups vary from the solo to 24 man versions.
For us we tend to run groups anywhere from 2 to 24. Since we are smaller we do a combination of functions while trying to support ebonheart pact. We have developed quite a few tactics for us to achieve objectives with smaller groups. We do have 3 regularly scheduled AvA/PvP events and i will run an unscheduled pickup on weekends. These are all run primarily during primetime in relation to the eastcoast though calendar times are in PST. The ones i do on weekends are from around 1400 est until noone wants to hang anymore. There are no real requirements for our events other than game restricted minimum level 10.
My suggestions are to ... do the entry quests that will give you an overview of Cyrodill, the map, transporting and siege. It also has the bonus of a tidy little sum of alliance points and exp. Once you have that hammered grab a little siege and come on out on any of the events or just ask in guild at anytime and am sure if someone is out there they will group up.
Above all go in with an open mind with the goal of having fun. You are going to die, have fun with it. Our runs are always a combination of activities so everyone remains engaged with a sense of accomplishment. We are by no means hardcore. Too many people to name here but if you have any questions you can start with the AvA event leaders and go from there for any ideas or other recommendations.
