It affects any mods that will display buffs/debuffs/players statuses.  There is still negotiations going on, we will see what is in there for release.  I believe players bars are still intact.

Does anyone know if this will affect Wykkyd's outfitter mod? I could live with that one and the minimap if i had to pick only two of them.

"In a nutshell, the new version of the API removes the ability to track what others are doing to your avatar. You'll still see various effects, but you'll no longer see which spell was cast. The impetus behind the changes seems to be to level the playing field between those using the standard UI and those using add-ons like Foundry Tactical Combat."

I know people in the Elder Scrolls community love their modding ability freedom, heck, so do i, but that particular mod was crossing into boundaries that i have no love for at all, and i wish to see the "World of Warcraft-Addon-Porn" days behind me and burning in a garbage fire.

I love modding in Elder scrolls tittles, but please modding community, i beg you, please stop making mods that break immersion.

@Elizabeth

From Morrowind to Oblivion to Skyrim, Modding has been a big stable for the TES series, but API mods cross into territories that i believe ZeniMax is frowning on, and given that this is the first TES game to take play within the virtual MMO space, i can hardly blame them.

Graphical/Texture modding is something i really would love to see for Elder Scrolls Online.

I doubt they will allow anything like that. reason being is that only about 50% of the game is actually on your computer, the other 50% is on the server. So if they did allow a clothing addon, you'd be able to see it, but no one else will.

Yeah, basically the Tamriel Foundry Tactical Combat addon not only allowed you to see your health/magicka/stamina, your cast bars (what you were casting as well as the cast timer), your debuffs/buffs, but also all that information about your target as well.  I also read that as a result of all that information, some were able to program macros that would recognize what was being cast against you and automatically cast an interrupt or other skill to help negate what was being cast against you.  So I agree that some limits needed to be placed to help reign everything in.  It would be really cool if we could still see all that on our own character but limit what we could see of our target, perhaps be able to see what class they are, and their health numbers/percentage, but not all the rest that would give an unfair advantage.  I still think being able to see buffs and debuffs on your target would be acceptable too, as that's what I'm used to in other games, but they are allowing you to see buffs/debuffs that last over 30 seconds so far.

As far as I know, the other mods (that don't get into that detail of tracking what your target is doing) aren't affected.

@Dex

Being able to auto cast an interrupt is not even remotely true.  That is just speculation and the anti-modders getting way out of control with my friend said that his friends roommate's brother-in-law could do that.....pure gibberish and mostly spread just like you did.  Not jumping on you, just want to kill that mess before it becomes the truth in some peoples minds.

The API before the nerf was severely reduced from what one could do in WoW.  You can't do that there either...so no way you could do it in ESO.

Now you can do even less.
