Tier 2 Siege Night (we Ended Up In Tier 4 This Eve!)

By: Twilah

The walls of Covenant of Flame glittered with the last dazzling rays of sunlight, blinding Twilah momentarily.
She stood, leaning her back against the inside of the outer keep wall as she quickly carved another rune. Wiping the sweat from her brow she tried hard not to think of her age and how the heat of the day had begun to affect her.
The family and thier allies had been on the move since sunrise, since Blockhead had roused them from thier beds with news that Destructions forces were attacking all across Eataine.
They had persued and driven Destructions forces from Eataines borders, but Twilah watched as her commander's countenance changed and grew more troubled over the course of the day. The flood of enemies seemed endless and they were beginning to realize they were vastly outnumbered. Only strategy and a bit of luck would end this day well.
Donaliam's shout broke her reverie as the Knight began his command of the battering ram. Twilah stood and shuffled closer to the front line as the ram came to life under the men's arms and began it's steady swing. She felt the power of it's impact with every deep thud like it was a shock to her very bones, and as always her senses came to life, knowing any enemy in the hills would hear the tell-tale noise of thier siege. The families archers had already silenced the few defenders who dared to pour oil down upon them. Even now thier blood browned the tops of the walls. A few frenzied shouts could be heard inside as the Keep Lord and his commanders prepared thier final defense.
Twilah looked back to the top of the outer wall, where Daghdre and Gregelf stood, looking out for the enemy. As always, she was comforted by thier presence and calm stature...yet still she knew they raced against time.
She walked over to Craythor, her fellow rune priest and stood with him under the shade of a small tree to the side of the warband.
"I have a bad feeling..." Craythor had barely uttered the words when Daghdre's voice broke through.
"Destructions reinforcement's are here! Off the door men! Hold our ground!"
Twilah and Craythor hopped a bit closer to the group and turned towards the outer gate, as always placing themselves behind the front line. The clash of steel had barely began when the sound of heavy footsteps began to beat across the ground behind them.
"Ambush!" Craythor yelled. Twilah turned just in tome to see a flood of Destructions forces flood in from around the backside. They were caught between the inner and outer walls.
The family made the best retreat they could back into Eataine, suffering some of the worst losses in recent memory. Those who lived to fight another day will remember the bitter lessons of this night.
