After Action Review: TD Progression Group

By: Intp

The family, lead by the patient and intrepid Eluveittie tackled a coffee fueled Tantric Depths (TD) run. This was a great experience for me personally as I had not even been in the instance and was intimidated to try because of the LFR post in Cross Chat like "TD No Losers 500K+ dps or kill yourself". Being able to go with the family and getting some fundamental directions for the fight was a great way to progress. The TD also provided a scenario to evaluate the group and where each of us are in terms of progression, not only from a DPS perspective but also in tanking, support and heal mechanics.

This activity also gave us an opportunity to evaluate our gear. After the raid attempts, we rallied in Allitu for an in ranks inspection and then it happened: The whole team mobilized to help augment, upgrade and tune up the families gear. This was very inspiring, not just from the obvious charitable aspect that I witnessed, but also from the rapid flow of information, gear mechanics, vendor info and crafting knowledge that was exchanged.

Each character has pretty specific needs so it's hard to make a 'universal gear progression matrix' but here are some of the RL mechanics that I saw in action:

1. Individual inspections in a very non-judgmental way.
2. Low hanging fruit, quick upgrades were identified and either direction on how to get or upgrade were identified.
3. The verbal and chat interaction triggered some to create a quick 'wish list' for their next items. For example to make a grocery list of crating items and count of Engines needed. What was needed, where to start to get it, what was needed to upgrade it.
4. A simple but clear fact was that for level 70 items Runes are only available for weapons and pants (maybe seal as well?).
5. Crafters were posting their crafting list in Guild chat and pointing out likely needed Runes and also verifying what runes others may need and may be of value.
6. Dreamweavers put together Orbs for several members. Dream Orbs are available all the way up to Level 70 gear but can only be slotted on Helmet and Belt.
7. One of the greatest areas of need for most of the team were Lessers and Greaters, these can be acquired through farming Major Rifts in Ahsenfell or by purchasing from Noteriety Vendors or Farming TQF instance.
8. For those who were missing Expert gear, a 5 man formed and off they went to start working on Expert items.

One of the tacit things that came across was how non-confrontational this was done and reflected great leadership credit to Eluveittie for making sure that it was productive.
