After Action Review: Sunday Morning Crifting With Varder And The Gang.

By: Intp

After Action Review: Sunday Morning Crifting with Varder and the gang. Big Thanks to coleader Zoewii for keeping us on track and getting the event updated! Woot!

26 Crafting Rifts Closed!

-Starting at 7am server time sharp, the family formed up to open...and close crafting rifts aka Crifting!

-This week saw the addition of a simple but effective crowd control measure to help keep the operational tempo flowing: Mark Yourself!

-Each raider was asked to put a Raid Mark over their head by right clicking their own picture and selecting "Mark Target" and picking an overhead Icon to appear if you had a Lure to use. This helped identify and organize who would be 'next' to open a rift. After some initial raid mark theft :) things got settled. I opted for a 6 because I was the 6th person in the raid.

-Water seemed to be the most popular lure to be used today, which is an easy one because there are no obstructions on the playfield. Fire required the most maneuvering because of the big forge in the middle of the rift. Fiveofseven provided crowd control (CC) and was gathering up stray mobs to keep them in the center to facilitate area of effect (aoe) destruction and we sped through the stages.

-There were a few over the 20 person raid cap, so Eluveittie started a second group at some point. It was stated that there is no effect on the loot table until there are 30+ people in the radius of the crafting rift. This is one of reasons that having non-group raid members 'chasing or leeching' is detrimental. However the few 'leeches' that we encountered this week were politely communicated with and we shared the gsch.info with them :)

-As in previous encounters when you are 'next' to go open a lure, leadership would mark you with a Heart (cause of all the love) over your head, and you leave to go get in position near a minor tear so you can 'pop' your lure. A few considerations that I've heard or experienced during this process:

-Check the map to see if there is a nearby tear (Minor tear not a raid tear).
-If there are no nearby tears, change shards by right clicking on your name, select Teleport and check the same location on a different shard.
-Avoid areas that have an invasion in progress
-If you have a bunch of 'leech' crifters chasing you, consider moving away the from the geography that you were in. I also learned today that one of the ways that the
'leech' crifters can find you is by opening the map, hovering their mouse cursor over the rift and they can see that it is a crafting rift, as well as the number of people
in the vicinity of that rift. Good to know info.
-When you get to your tear, try to move to the outer most edge of where you can pop it, if not you can draw aggro from the mobs, which puts you in combat and prevents you
from using your Rift Summons associated with that type of rift. If you do get in combat you will need to run away until they drop, then run back to cast your summons.
-There are individual summons for each type of rift type including: nightmare, air, water, fire, earth, life, and death.

You can make the macro below that will cast your summons regardless of what rift type you are in. One less thing to have to look for :)

#show Planewalker's Call
cast Summon Group: Earth
cast Summon Group: Air
cast Summon Group: Fire
cast Summon Group: Water
cast Summon Group: Life
cast Summon Group: Death
cast Planewalker's Call
use Nightmare Rift Summoner

-Individual Charges: You get one free 'roll' per DAY on a loot drop on the crifts for a high end item, namely Celestial Motes and Celestial Matrices. These drop straight into your Rift loot bag pop up. You don't have to use your Individual Reward Charges and just get the regular drops. If you spend reward charges, for comparison on a 30 lure run last week I ended up with 65+ motes and 5 Celestrial Matrices, this week I didn't spend any individual charges and got 1 celestial matrix and 4 motes.. The Celestial Matrix only dropping occasionally but the motes dropping nearly every single rift, if not every Rift. I didn't full understand the Individual Reward Charge at the time.

-In addition to the motes and matrices, the crifts reward you with various Lesser Essences (someone said they never saw a Greater), Celestial Materials Caches and Crafting Marks of Various levels. Everyone who completes the rift, gets one Cache, and they make a convenient way to tell how many rifts you have closed on the runs as well :)

-The Caches drop materials, for example in one Cache it dropped 6 types of items, 17 total all level 450 or above.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of my most significant lessons learned is that crifting is very necessary to progress your character because you need the Celestial Motes and Mats to upgrade your weapons.

-One of the weapon upgrade systems in Rift is currently based around improving existing weapon or armor pieces through craft related upgrades. This progression is dependent on crafted items of various types.

-For example in order to upgrade an Energized Chondritic Cowl into an Ethereal Chondritic Cowl it requires the following Crafted items in addition to closing rifts and Tenebrean Engines acquired from raiding:

8 Prophetic Textile Amenders: This is an upgraded crafted item (just have 2 Tenebrean Planar Attuners, a Reagent from the Rift Store in your bank or inventory) made from a Visionary Textile Amender with a 20 hour cool down which is made from:

Bolt of Starweave Cloth (16)

Starhide Leather (16)

Tenebrean Samite (8)

Infused Starhide (8)

Chondritic Planar Dust (5)

-8 Celestial Matrixes: These items are are either rewarded or combined from 10 Celestial Motes, these are primarily acquired by doing Celestial Crafting Rifts.

These are EXPENSIVE items to acquire, so joining in with the the Weekly Crifting group can get you what you need and save some plat/rex!
