Interest In The Dark Arts.

Kaytlin had always been...well different. growing up she always had a morbid interest in death. she studied it constantly at school when she got the chance and occasionally managed to sneak a look at the odd tomes that various mages had kept in the libraries of the town she had grown up with.
All this changed though when the call to arms had gone out to stop the mad king. She was one of the first to volunteer to join the army to stop him as she was keenly aware of the suffering he was causing. She quickly went through basic training, showing great promise and soon found herself on the front lines. There finally she came face to face with the true horrors of what the king had done. Faced off against his undead army..and other unspeakble horrors. it was a desperate time and she fought well and they all though there was hope when the last of the horrors was finally put down...until the king pulled the level and unleashed well true evil upon the land. They had no chance but she still fought on bravely until she was finally cut down. her last thougths of her family and the regret that they had failed to stop. her mind drifting to avoid the pain she was suffering, until finally she could bear it no longer and all went blank.
A feeling of peace was the first thing she remembered, peace and tranquility washing over her, then the realisation that she was somehow still alive. She opened her eyes to find herself in the arms of a being with wings. She wasn't afraid though as they flew along the thougth appeared in her head.
Fear not little one, you have been chosen by the Vigil to stop the king, we cannot let happen what he wishes and so we have decided to ascend a chosen few to protect telara from the coming evil. They soared down and alighted gently upon the balcony of the castle. "Go forth child, you have been given a chance to choose your path and will be given the power to help defend Telara, with that the being flew off.
in a daze she wandered into the castle to see another being floating there. you have been chosen to be ascended, what this means is that the souls of great heros past will be yours to call on to help defend the plane against the upcoming evils. Now go and choose your path.
Kaytlin made her way downstairs mulling it over, still confused but something inside her crystalizing. at the entrance to the castle another being floated. Have you chosen your path.
"Yes she spoke up, I want the power to raise the dead and bend the very forces of death to my will, if the king can do it, then i will fight him with the very things he used to destroy us the first time round. So be it and with that Kaytlin felt something inside her and suddenly she had the knowledge of the necromantic arts.
This is but only a start on your journey, a journey towards gaining the power to stop regulos the destroyer himself.
