We'll it's been well over a year now since our first public community event was hosted on Faeblight. While looking back at some of our events and planning our future events we thought it would be fun to ask.

What was/is your favorite Gaiscioch Public Community Event?

1. [ ] The Telara Saga - Progressive story driven Rift crusade across Telara

2. [ ] PvP Rift Hunt - Single Side at a Time (Due to our setup it's unethical for us to host both sides at the same time)

3. [ ] Telara's Last Stand - Zone Invasion Hunt, We travel across all of Telara stopping zone invasions.

4. [ ] The Great Conquest - A fast progressive Rift hunt progressing from Newbie to Raid Rift in a single 3 hour event. This was great for low level players to get waypoints and see the world before their time.

5. [ ] Expert / Raid Rift Hunt - A duo-sided cooperative Expert and Raid Rifting event open to all.

New Proposed Events

6. [ ] Slaying the Titans - Kill Baron and Akala and finish the night closing one of each Expert Rift

7. [ ] The Big Achievement - A quick progression across Telara snagging easy to get achievements. ie. bridge jumping, kill [x] creatures, etc.

We're looking to change up our Thursday night event and are trying to choose something that you all will enjoy. Let us know what you'd like to see and we'll see what we can do to make it happen.

The expert/raid rifting is okay, but most of the time nobody really explains anything about a given rift. We just follow along with a mob mentality and attack anything that comes out, it's over and only the raid that opened the rift gets the chests. The Big Achievement could be fun, if it stuck to non-kill achievements. We've had times in the past when rare creatures are called out, and despite calls in Vent to hold off on tagging it until everyone gets there to get a punch in, someone unloads on [x] creature and very few actually end up with the achievement. Usually when a non-Vent connected PUG tagging along. I'd probably say Telara Saga and Telara's Last Stand are my favorites. Last Stand more so than Saga, simply because it is fairly faction neutral. No matter how many defiant or guardians we have in the event, we can still divide into teams and work together to accomplish the zone events.

I have to say that I loved doing The Telara Saga. It was a very fun run and story motivated.

Hit the wrong button - was going to edit - oops.. Wanted to add - that even though I'm not in Rift anymore - I still remember the Telara Saga - just like I remember the nights we did runs in Warhammer - great fun.

Telara Saga and Telara's Last Stand were my favorites. I pop on randomly to the game now and find I still really don't have a huge amount of interest in their world events. I have more interest with hanging out when I can and filling marketplace orders here and there. My thoughts on the achievement idea: You might have to break up in groups if you are to include certain kills and puzzles due to how they work. I know we managed to do some of the kill so many of this kind of thing with two raid groups, but we still had to keep them from going over the same area. I know we did this along time ago in Moonshade with those creatures along the lake with one raid on the eastern half and one on the western half. That still was a bit much. I agree that the rift idea has been coordinated pretty good, but there is the down side the the more raids you have, the less loot shared for the effort. However, I'm one who does not mind because if I do get on for these, it has always been more about being with family and helping newer people learn. Since I'm still debating on keeping the game after my one year sub runs out in June some time, I'm not really caring what I get for myself. Most of the stuff from the winter hoo-rah of long days in the game went back into the guild through the marketplace and what not. Fixed disability budget has me debating on where to put my money where I'll use it. =) I'm glad GW2 is free to play though I'll spend some money on gems for certain things I'd find useful for the long haul.

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

Telara Saga and Telara's Last Stand were my favorite, too. When I joined the family I was about level 18. The first event I participated in was in Stillmoor. Was probably some of the most fun I've had in the game. I had no idea where I was going, trying to keep up on my slowbie mount with a huge number above my head. I pretty much had my own squad of level 50 bodyguards, but still died...alot. That was the point where I was thought "Yeah, these guys are totally awesome."

Telara saga 1 is where I met the Gaiscioch, and Telara Saga 2 is when I joined so those are still my favorite. As if right now I am no longer in Rift, but if I were I would almost have to say Slaying the Titans. Mostly because I already did most of the acheivements on my 2 toons

Telara Saga and Telara's Last Stand have been my favorites, closely followed by the pvp rift nights. It would be cool if we could get a massive open rpish battle going in one of the zones such as on the plains of Stonefield. I remember falling (literally) into the middle of one such war between Shinobii and friends and Gaiscioch, sometime in the fall of 2011 when my first toon was only level 20 and I ended up joining in the fight and dying many times but became a member of Gaiscioch that night! lol

How about one night per week devoted to Instant Adventuring for level 45-47s on the mainland and another raid group doing the same on EI for our 48+s? Now, I know that's not an all inclusive event, but with a good group they don't take too long and we could perhaps open it up to all levels after the IA part is over and continue on with a shortened TLS. (or do it exactly the opposite and start with TLS and end with the IAs to entice the higher levels to stick around longer?)

Hard part is getting people to play their high level characters. People love playing those lowbies :). I'd be more open to IA's if I could get people on higher level characters. Now Trion is working on making IA's for all zones so at somepoint this might be possible.

Though I'm not very good at them yet, I enjoy the heck out of the PVP rift nights. Telara's Last Stand is also quite a bit of fun. I never mind being on lowbie guard duty (though they still manage to die...) I second the open PVP battle idea. The Big Achievement is enticing but would think it might be hard to manage.

For the big achievement the "kill x creatures" would be kill100 undead in freemarch type stuff. With a raid group it goes much faster.

Here is my list: [4] The Telara Saga - Progressive story driven Rift crusade across Telara [1] PvP Rift Hunt - Single Side at a Time (Due to our setup it's unethical for us to host both sides at the same time) [5] Telara's Last Stand - Zone Invasion Hunt, We travel across all of Telara stopping zone invasions. [3] The Great Conquest - A fast progressive Rift hunt progressing from Newbie to Raid Rift in a single 3 hour event. My vote is for the Telara Saga, if only for sentimental reasons. At the time the game was new for all of us and this event allowed us to progress through the world and make new discoveries together. On a side note, Bentmer used to organize small races across Telara which were great fun. The goal of each race was to find Bentmer at a given end point after having ran through multiple zones as a bat or squirrel or what not. I'd love to see more events like that... more focus on goofing around instead of rifting/rading/pvping.

Trying to plan events that will get people to participate in them. Sorry vamp Battle for Badlands can't happen :P. Problem is participation in our family events is almost down to nothing. If it continues at this rate it wont be justifiable to even have them at all. We're looking for ideas that would get 40+ people on the field for a night of fun. ATM we're getting maybe 20-30.

I think attendance is down for a couple reasons. First, there is SO much to do in this game that people have wandered off to do their own thing, whether it be raiding, crafting, queing for WFs, questing, etc., and unless the family event involves what they like to do, they may not see any incentive in joining up. Secondly, Rift is primarily a PvE game. At this point, most folks have hit 50 and aside from high end dungeons, most of the content falls under the "been there, done that" category. Being PvE oriented, the action doesn't offer up many surprises. Early on the family events were great fun since it was all new and shiny and we could discover it all together. I think many people now don't feel the need to go out in big groups to do things they've done a hundred times over. Now take a game like WarHammer (back in it's glory days anyway). In that game there was one thing to do: PvP. The player base wasn't segmented into different activities; they were there to crawl the lakes and capture zones. And let's face it, fighting an actual person is much more fun than swinging a sword at a computer generated monster.

Well, I'm fairly new to the family--about 2 months now. I haven't participated in everything that has been listed. I've done Telara's Last Stand and enjoyed that much. I don't really like to PVP, so I've stayed out of those. Haven't done the Talara Saga or the Great Conquest. The expert/raid rift hunt sounds great. I'd like to make those. I think Slaying the Titans would help me finish some quests. Yeah! The Big Achievement sounds like fun. I haven't pursued achievements in any organized way. I'd be willing to lead some of these once I get the hang of them. I've been leading crafting rifts and expert dungeons so far. Great to be a part of this family. It's so well organized and run and the people are great.

Rereading this thread I realized Ben replied to some Warhammer player's response that "Battle for Badlands" was their favorite. While BfB was fantastic, since it wasn't one of the above choices (since it's clearly not a RIFT event), Ben is NOT SUPPOSED TO TAKE US SERIOUSLY. Carry on. :)
