In the old days of EQ I ran a large guild. One of the activities we held were fishing derby's/ It was fun. We would all fish as a group, and there were prizes awareded for Most fish, most specials, and the good one, the booby prize (awarded for the most boots caught). The booby prize was always the best one.
With the introduction of fishing into Rift, I would like to make a means to have family derby's. I see some major twists in the idea. So, I want to claim this activity and will orginize how it would work. For now, it is about learning how the fishing system works, what its yeilds are, it's characteristics, and whether or not it is even feasilble to do.
Give me some time to discover these things and come up with a plan, and lets go fishin!
I would like to set a tenative date of May 5th to do the first "test" event and go from there.

I must figure out how to do this with fairness. In EQ, when you died all your items were dropped in a package that would remain as a loot for days. We show up at the lake, then duel to the death, and not reloot our belongings. That meant, that no one could purchase items ahead of time to present as catch. Everyone fished naked, which added to the fun when mobs would show up and we wouldhave to defend ourselfs with fishing rods. ;)
Let me learn and think about how we could make such an event rewarding with this new system.
