Hey Everyone,

The eldership team has been flooded with questions about the Guild Quest system in Guild Wars 2. I spoke about it in this months newsletter. I will be discussing it in detail at this weekend's meeting. In addition I am posting here so that you all can get up to speed.

Guild Missions:

There are 5 types of missions. Before you can do these missions you must unlock the ability to do them. Before this patch Economy was maxed at rank IV. You need Rank 6 in all paths to unlock all missions. Rank 5 in each path costs 20,000 influence and 10 days of build time. Rank 6 in each path costs 30,000 influence and 10 days build time. So for us to unlock all mission types just in prerequisites we must use 140,000 influence and spend between 30 and 50 days building them depending on how fast we can acrue influence.

Mission Types & Costs:

The 5 Mission Types are:

  • Guild Bounties
Requires 30,000 influence and 3 days to build (Completed 3/1 at around 2PM PST)
Once unlocked we can queue Guild Bounty Missions at 200 Influence and 12 Hours build time. We will be running these in Gaiscioch na Anu and Gaiscioch na Rall first. These will be run in weekly scheduled events by Prissi on Saturday Mornings.
  • Guild Trek
Requires 50,000 influence and 7 days  to build along with Economy VI and Guild Bounties unlocked.
Once unlocked we can queue Guild Treks for 200 Influence and 12 Hours build time. These will not be run for quite a while.
  • Guild Rush
Requires 50,000 influence and 7 days to build along with Politics VI and Guild Trek unlocked.
Once unlocked we can queue Guild Rush for 200 Influence and 12 Hours build time. These will not be run for quite a while.
  • Guild Challenge
Requires 50,000 influence and 7 days to build along with Art of War VI and Guild Rush unlocked.
Once unlocked we can queue Guild Rush for 200 Influence and 12 Hours build time. These will not be run for quite a while.
  • Guild Puzzle
Requires 50,000 influence and 7 days to build along with Architecture VI and Guild Challenge unlocked.
Once unlocked we can queue Guild Puzzles for 200 Influence and 12 Hours build time. Once we have unlocked Puzzles in a guild we will begin running Trek, Rush, Challenge, and Puzzles more frequently.

The Plan

What we plan to do is use Anu and Rall to get familiar with the events and give our family some exposure to them. The Main Rooms of the house will focus on upgrading to unlocking the Guild Puzzles as quickly as we can but we need to clear 370,000 influence and spend a total build time of 78 days to accomplish this. We will also need to complete 510 missions as a family in EACH room of the house. So yes there will be quite a bit of Guild Questing going on. At first all efforts will be on Guild Bounties while we get the rest unlocked.

We have 2 slots in the build queue. What we are doing is using Asura Outsourcing to build the 10 day Structural Upgrades (Art of War, Economy, Politics, Architecture) which gives us an extra slot in the build queue. One of the 2 slots will be unlocking the next mission type, the other unlocking bounty missions to run on the weekends.

We will not have extra influence for Guild Buffs, Banners, or Misc stuff we've been used too over the past few months until we get these mission types unlocked. Unfortunately influence doesn't come easy.

What you can do to help

As you can see above, our current averages are so low it will take us 120+ days to earn enough influence to be able to meet the 370,000 influence required.

Group up with members in the family room your in and complete zone events, go into wvw together, and complete objectives. If I can get everyone to represent each of the rooms they have available and complete 1 zone event a day in each room they have available it would help dramatically.

Additionally you can purchase influence boosters in Lions arch.

  • 2s = 10 influence
  • 20s = 100 influence
  • 2g = 1,000 influence
  • 20g = 10,000 influence

This is not a cheap way of gaining influence but if your good at fund raising this can help dramatically. The biggest challenge we will face is keeping influence in our rooms. If we can't trigger the 50,000 inf upgrades it stretches out the timeline. The longer the delay the longer it takes to upgrade.

I think with a bit of fund raising, better grouping (Group with Same Room Members), and some charitable donations we can quickly meet the requirements. 370,000 influence will cost 740 gold. Thats 3,700 gold for all 5 rooms of our house. Purchasing drinks for the city is the fastest way we can unlock these but it will take quite a bit of gold amoung our members. If we can all at least buy the 20s 100inf drink each day we play.

So Homework:

  1. Buy Drinks for the City (Whatever You Can Afford)
  2. Group with other members in your room of the house. (Gold Name Plates)
  3. Represent each room of the house every day and complete 1 mission. (Theres a bonus inf every day for each active contributor to each room of the house)

If you can, send contributions to the Influence fund to Foghladha.2506 and I will make sure it gets used where we need it.

They are near any of the Guild Registers I believe. The one that comes to mind is near the Trading Post/Bank in Divinity's Reach.

Hello
I am pretty excited for these missions as well but i did realize at first just how expensive they are to get going. I will represent Gaisc?och na Morrigan almost full time to assist.

one question i have: if one of the guilds have the missions unlocked and ready to go, are members from the other 4 allowed to then represent the host guild? I am asking in regards to the rewards. Or will active participants receive the personal rewards regardless of the host guild?

Thanks.

Alright folks. Your goal over the next 6 days is to earn 30,000 influence in each of our main rooms. Do what you can to get influence in. We need 50,000 influence in each room in the next 6 days to not have a break in our progress.

Alright, I was working on unlocking my Treasure Trove, but it can wait. I do have some "tricks" that I've learned from having to solo influence, so I'll apply them to na Morrigan.

Will switch to Nu Anu on all my characters so as to contribute there as I run dailies, events, and the like. Have sent along some gold and (as I have it) will continue to do so.

We need the Influence in the main rooms (Non-Anu/Rall) asap. Please do not buy INF for Anu and Rall. Those will be the last 2 that we fully upgrade.

Hey Fog, is there any update on getting the Guild Trek Missions unlocked in any of the houses?

I know many of us were (pleasantly) surprised to find out the weekly reset for Missions happened Saturday shortly after we finished our bounties. Will we possibly have Guild Treks unlocked this week before the Saturday Reset (4pm Server time I guess?) or are we looking at getting them next week?

Thanks for the info!

Pete.

no. We have to unlock Ecomony 6 (Economy 4 was the only available pre-patch). So 2 upgrades in Economy to be able to unlock Trek. Economy 5 hasn't finished yet. Still got another day before we can trigger economy 6.

Alright, not the answer I was hoping for but thanks for the quick response!

So, barring extra influence being available to accelerate production we're looking at 1 more day for Economy 5, 10 more for Economy 6 and then 7 more for Guild Trek Missions for a total of 18 days away?

Hey Fog like I said before I have no problem doing guild treks I have seen your maps there great I save it to my desktop copied it to my thumb drive, and put it on my other computer next to me so I could practice, and try to find a quicker way, I only have a few questions

1st are the w/p in the main cities like black citadel, Divinitys reach and Hoelbrak still free to use during the trek,

2nd when the trek begins is there a marker for us to go after as we go from site to site

3rd if we dont have all areas open can we re-do the area or do we have to do all of the first before re-setting or going to the next tier.

You don't have to reply I'll be asking these questions in the meeting, on monday

I can attempt to answer those CaptCaveman

1 - Yes, the waypoints behave as normal for the treks, so the inter-city waypoints are still free (as in cost 0 copper to use).

2 - When the trek begins you can hit up any of the markers that are given for that trek in any order you find them. Usually small groups will be assigned one to get by the leader and then when your group finishes one you are given or can go after any of the others remaining. The marks are yellow circles on the ground that only members of the guild currently doing the treks will be able to see. There is no marker on the maps though. I hope that answers that one.

3 - If you don't have all areas explored you can try to run to the new area or just do the markers in areas you have. We do not have to complete one tier to move on to the next, each tier is simply an increase in difficulty by increasing the number of markers that need to be found (increasing the difficulty also increases the rewards the guild earns). The only way to reset is to succeed or fail in the trek, there is no way to reset and get all new markers without having to essentially give up on that trek.

Think of the missions as guild banners, they need to be purchased and built by the guild before they can be implemented, for example the guild could have 3 tier 1 treks built, a tier 2 and a tier 3 (that is not the limit but a theoretical number to use as an example) which means that until more are purchased and built that is all we can do until that happens.
