A few myths . . .

For the sake of having correct info, just wanted to post some information regarding 2 different myths I've been hearing in guild chat and on RC.

1. Regarding queuing for multiple maps at the same time in WvW:

https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/wuv/wuv/Can-you-queue-for-multiple-WvW-zones-at-once

TLDR: No, you can't queue for more than one map at a time.  If you queue for a 2nd one while being queued for a first you'll simply shift over to the 2nd map's queue.

2. Running speed with weapon put away vs out:

Assuming both people have the same speed buffs or not, and are in-combat or out, having a weapon drawn vs not makes NO difference on movement speed at all.  The animations are different and it 'looks' like you're moving faster or slower but side by side the characters move the exact same speed - again, assuming same speed buff or not and in-combat or not.

If you doubt it, test it with a friend.  Easy to do. :)

Just wanted to spread some correct info. :)

Thank you for clarifying the bit about the wvw queues, I'd been wondering about that since hearing it discussed at a guild event recently. I just wasn't sure where to look for a definite answer.

The post you linked is how its supposed to work. However tonight I queued for bg first and eb last. Bg was  the first to pop. About 30 minutes into playing on bg the eb queue popped for me. You CAN queue for multiple. If you want me to live stream it to prove it to you I will but I queue for all 4 every week and we go to whichever pops first.

Fog,

That was the only official response I could find on the forums.  However, looking at the official Wiki, they might have changed it a bit:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World_versus_World

Players may leave or join WvW at any time with only a few restrictions:

  • Players who are idle for a certain amount of time will be automatically removed from WvW, but can rejoin at any time.
  • Players who attempt to join a map that is full can queue for a space while joining one of the other maps in the meantime.

The wording is a tad weird but I think they mean that you can go into one map and then Queue for another while in that map?  Not sure.

So, to test it next time, try this:

When you're totally outside of WvW - queue for all 4 maps in succession and wait for the first one to pop then just play as normal in WvW and see if the other 3 pop as you are playing.  That way you can confirm if you can truly queue for all 4.

Would be interesting to see if they changed it.

Thats exactly what I do every week at all 3 of my wvw events. You can queue for all 4 and get popups for each so long as you dont click leave queue.

I can confirm that. Due to limited play time and an unreliable connection I will queue for all of them and take whatever pops first. It isn't always the last one or the first one I selected.

I like Fog, can confirm through experience that you have been, for some time now, able queue for multiple WvW maps.

However I once noticed if your queue pops and you don't take it I believe you are removed from all queues, but the only time this happened to me were reset nights so its possible that 3rd map I queued for just never popped in the 2-4 hours I was in the first map.

I did some testing on the multiple map queues over a few days along with a Dev testing it.

Did it 4 different times:

- Each time I'd queue into each of the 4 maps in different orders (writing them down) - each time it was always the last map that I queued that I got into.

- Once I got into the map the queue visual indicator disappeared and I never got a message box indicating another map was ready. (granted I didn't say a huge amount of time to totally confirm this but usually stayed in for an hour or so)

The Dev did the same thing (once) and it turned out the same way.

This isn't 100% proof of the way it works but it certainly lines up with the Dev post and the Wiki entry online.

If anyone has counter-evidence - especially recorded (Fog?) then that'd be great!  Would love to know for sure. :)  Might even be a bug - who knows?
