I am fairly new to the guild but i noticed a lot of players with our guild tag, but that aren't in the same guild as me as well as lots of members who are not representing (who i suspect are mostly in other guilds owned by the Gaiscioch Family) So my question is firstly am i correct about there being different guilds, and secondly is there a way to advance to the more active or primary guilds?

Yes, there are different guilds, but they are not considered "more active" or primary.  GW2 limits guilds to 500 members (its tracked by account, not characters) so with a guild the size of the Gaiscioch Family... we need more than one. (currently we have 904 active)

There are two primary rooms, Gaiscíoch (aka "funny i") and Gaiscioch na Morrigan.

There are two secondary rooms, aka "specialty rooms": Gaiscioch na Anu (for PvE events and LFG) and Gaiscioch na Rall (for WvW events and LFG)

In a nutshell:

~Everyone is assigned to a primary room.  This is based on your primary play time, but you can also request one or the other.

~Once a member reaches the Muinntir rank, they can then fill out their Profile playstyle preferences (PvE/PVP/Social/Crafting) on this website, request re-invite and be given access to one or both of the specialty rooms, depending on their selected preferences.  As stated above, these rooms are mostly for family events and people who want to fill guild groups for this or that and want to meet up with family members from the other primary room.

Also, quite a few members belong to other guilds or personal guilds, so they may not be representing since there is no requirement to represent GSCH at all times.

Its a tad complicated, but hopes that helps some. :)

edit: originally stated wrong rank needed for specialty room invites, I believe it was changed from Lorgair to Muinntir.
