Update!  I'm moving this too Sunday early evening.  Too many calendar conflicts on Saturdays!

I'm getting ready to come back onto the GW2 calendar for Saturday nights, and I'm looking for your input!

Whatcha wanna do?

My first thought is "Shmi's Lootapaloosa Saturday Night".  Probably the Dragon's Stand meta & Silverwastes on alternating weeks, because these are fun and rewarding for everyone.

Other suggestions or preferences?

When should we start?

The hitch with Dragon's Stand is the 2 hour event cycle.  To give us time to form up in advance I'll need to start the event on the even hour, Pacific time (currently UTC -8).  So what works best for you?  4PM? 6PM? 8PM?

Since I'm not much of a night owl, my own preference is to start at 4 PM pacific and run for 3 hours.  Is that too early for you?

Please leave your comments here or on Facebook.  I'm planning to start this event on Saturday, June 4th.

Shmi I have been really overwhelmed with the HoT content.  You wrote a great guide on how to spend the points thingies for our new flying and mushroom skills and stuff, so anything you would lead on Saturday nights that would help me learn and get that stuff would be awesome.  I know there's a lot of zone stuff to do that would train the path thingies.

That would be great. My preferance would be 4p, since that would not make it too late my time.

4 is better for me too. But I'm not always around on Saturdays.

If you're on late enough I'll be sure to pop in and give you my support (that said I could probs swing 6pm pst but def not earlier) :D

I've been doing the DS farm for machined weapons so I'm down there in my free time.

That time works well for me, as well. DS is always fun, although I am starting to get a handle on TD as well. TD always seems to be hit or miss, in terms of getting enough population to complete the early events.

@Winter, I may be wrong but I thought Goat moved his dungeons to earlier on Saturdays?  I hope not to conflict with those when he's able to resume.

@Twilah, sure thing.  One great part of the Dragon's Stand meta is that its a lot of XP and *jammed* full of mastery points.  Really great for earning those HoT masteries.

This sounds like a lot of fun, but unfortunately I am a night owl in PST and I'm usually working until 10pm or so.  If we ever get a late night run going, count me in.

Well I would love to join. Thursday event has been blast. However that being said unfortunately timing is always challenge. Even 4pm is quite "late", because it would mean 2am for me :) Maybe 2pm pacific could doable or then 8pm. That just would mean that I need to get up early on sundays.

Anyway whatever you decide, I might popup sometimes, because I can always sleep in on sundays ;)

Based on the feedback so far, I'm going to start at 4pm Pacific on June 4th and we''ll see how that goes.  It's super hard to find a time that works for everyone!  BTW, I still run a 3 hour HoT event on Thursdays mornings as well.  I know that's not convenient for many people but it's a better option for some folks.

@Twilah, the Guide to HoT Masteries should be helpful.  Also check out the HoT Survival Guide I wrote for the magazine.  Some of the details may be slightly off due to the recent overhaul of the HoT zones but the gist is still correct.

For everyone else, you'll need basic gliding and updraft use to participate in the full Dragon's Stand meta -- these are needed to reach the final event in the zone.  Even if you don't have them yet you'll get a TON of loot and experience up to that point, but it's well worth getting these two masteries unlocked beforehand so you don't miss the main event. :)

You'll also need to get to the starting waypoint in Dragon's Stand, Pact Base Camp.  Teleport to friend is a super quick way to get there.  I'm also willing to run folks from the guild hall to Dragon's Stand.  It's quite a trek, and takes about 30 minutes.  I'll post a pre-event for the 4th to help with this.

Well I know 6 works better for me, gives me time for dinner.  Starting at 4 means possible issues with my blood sugars, hopefully in near future I may be off the insulin.  Also for me I on same time alot.  Both 4 and 6 have their own issues, but I know I can make it work, if i put forth the needed effort.  Shimi 4 pm is way better than the AM one, I am definitely not a morning person :)

6pm works very well for me because on Saturday nights I have a very light dinner because I spend all the afternoon drinking Yerba Mate and gorging on cookies while we roleplay :3

Let's see if I can wake up earliesh at the next day for raids :3

@Nona, for Dragon's Stand we spend the first 30 minutes getting organized.  (Yeah, it seems like a lot but it's key to beating the meta).  So on Dragon's Stand weeks if you can move your character to Dragon's Stand and get into the squad, you'd have some time to afk and grab a quick bite.

On Silverwastes weeks, you can join any time -- if the map is not full.  So maybe use the same trick.  Get into the map then break to take care of your needs.  Health first! :)

MOVED TO SUNDAY

I just moved my event from Saturdays to Sundays at 4pm.   The problem with Saturdays is that it's too late for me, personally, to lead at 6pm  (I wake up at 3am pacific).  I thought 4pm might work, but it looks like it's going to conflict multiple times a month with guild meetings.

So I've moved my event to Sunday instead.   Let me know if there's a Sunday time earlier than 4pm that works better for you and we'll try to find a time that works best for the majority (and me!), especially those unable to join me on Thursday mornings.

I am interested in rejoining the family for some GW2  events after a long haitus. However, I do not have the expansion. Is it necessary for this group event?

The Dragon's Stand map is part of the expansion, but the Silverwastes is not.

I think it's worth getting for the new masteries and the fun of gliding, and it goes on sale pretty regularly.
