Most of the TESO forums out there have a section dedicated to builds, and we are also starting to see a lot of builds here now, which is awesome. The one thing that doesn't seem to change is that everyone is only putting their hand up for 2 skill sets/weapon sets.

I have watched the Goodnews PVP/Mechanics video several times now and i have noticed that he uses 3 swap-outs.

  1. Sword and board
  2. Destro staff for AOE
  3. Restro staff for healing/AOE

I am presuming that this is coming from the Wykkyd Outfitter Mod. Of course, he could just manually swap depending on the situation, but the real issue is that some feel 3 is better than 2. I fall into that category. If the outfitter mod still works at launch, i will be using it and doing something similar.

I would love some feedback on this........

  • I never got to 15 to test the swap-outs. Can i swap at will, or is it locked if i am being attacked?
  • Have you used the outfitter mod? What can you tell us about its pros and cons?
  • Are you going with 2 or more than 2 swap-outs?

I guess this like many other things, this is up to personal preference and what kind of build you run....  if you are a crafter and and you spend good amount of skill points into it, having to work 3 sets of weapons seems like a lot to me,  having that said if you spend minimum skill points in you class traits it would leave you a bigger pool of points for weapon lines...  I find trying to swap out 3 weapons is a lot, but that's just me

At level 15 you can have 2 sets of weapons and swap them in combat while you are fighting very easily. To do 3 you would have to manually do it or use whatever mod you are talking about. personally I have not used any add ons yet. I may go with 3 eventually but not until I have extra skill points after my crafting/class and all the other things I would like to have:)

I am actually doubtful that any mod that permits quickly switching out 3 weapons for swapping will not be permitted - if it still works at launch (and many mods have already become "banned") it will soon be taken away.  The devs have consistently stated that they won't allow mods that give one player and advantage over another who doesn't have the same mod equipped - this would seem to be such a mod.

Just my thought...

Now - weapon swapping as is - works instantly and is just fine.  I have swapped out with 3 different weapons and will probably have 4 weapon sets in my inventory.  BUT - you can only change out the two that you have equipped when you are out of combat - and then it is easy to redo skill bars also.

Sorc during beta I used Resto, Detro, and Bow - usually I had bow/Destro equipped while running around but would swap out Resto for one of the other two and swap out the appropriate skills depending on the mob I was fighting.  On my NB I would go with Bow/Dual Wield/Destro and also swap out depending on the mob.

Mobs have different resists - just like players will also - and once you find a chink in their armor it is best to use that chink to your advantage.  Some mobs really hate fire - that is why I used the Destro Inferno staff (and there are also those that hate frost/shock) so I will also carry all three staff types with me.

Some mobs don't react at all to my poison arrows - so no need to try them - although they will eventually die - takes a lot longer.

This is the main reason for carrying multiple weapon types - and might be a good reason to also carry several pieces of armor with different resists on them.  I have died - changed out weapons and a couple of armor for different resists - then went back to easily win the battle.  It will be interesting to see what happens in AvA and learn what most people are using for resists.  I have a feeling that spell resist will be high on the list since we all have skills that require magika - and are thusly - spells.  It should be great fun to get it figured out.  :)

Edit:

I just read about the outfitter mod and it doesn't seem to be a mod they would have a problem with since it works just like doing it yourself but does it automatically - out of combat.  So it is a time saver but not something the Devs should care about unless it glitches into something to allow during combat.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I guess the deal breaker is that the 3rd weapon/skill set cannot be swapped in and out at will. What a shame. I would really enjoy having 3 proper bars

I can barely come up with 2 functional bars before I get distracted by all the possibilities. I was just disappointed that I couldn't use the same weapon when I switched from one bar to the second. I know I can use the same weapon type, but I hate having to find two awesome 2 handers if i want to go 2h/2h instead of just one.

Yes, Ciridae, that's why most of my builds use two different weapon types. Though with the amount of crafting that will be going on in the Family, I doubt it would be too difficult to get a pair of high quality weapons.
