Character Build: The Sun Warden (Templar/Bow, DPS)

Greetings everyone,

This is probably my favorite build that I have come up with so far. The idea behind this build was to create a highly versatile fighter capable of medium to long range damage dealing, along with substantial survivability. The build uses both Bow and 1H+Shield and full Medium armor, giving the character a very "celtic warrior" feeling to it. It is primarily an AvA build, so some skill swapping may be needed to sustain dps in PVE situations.

The major flaw of this build is resource management. Templar does not offer any sort of magicka regen, so this may be a problem.

As always, your feedback is appreciated!

Race: Bosmer

Base class: Templar

Armor: Medium 7/7
Mundus Stone: The Shadow - increases critical damage

Stat Selection: 20 Magicka/9 Health/20 Stamina

Build Link

Bar 1 - Bow

Slot 1-1: Poison Arrow > Venom Arrow
Slot 1-2: Piercing Javelin > Binding Javelin
Slot 1-3: Sun Fire > Vampire's Bane
Slot 1-4: Arrow Spray > Bombard
Slot 1-5: Volley > Scorched Earth
Slot 1-U: Nova > Solar Disturbance

Key points: This bar can be used for either PVE or AvA DPS. It provides single-target and AOE DPS options at any range, as well as ranged knockback and snare. Scorched Earth does AOE fire damage over time. Solar Disturbance snares all enemies in the area, deals damage and lower's all target's damage output.

Bar 2 - 1H/Shield

Slot 2-1: Puncturing Strikes > Biting Jabs
Slot 2-2: Low Slash > Deep Slash
Slot 2-3: Power Bash > Power Slam
Slot 2-4: Rushed Ceremony > Honor the Dead
Slot 2-5: Restoring Aura > Radiant Aura
Slot 2-U: Radial Sweep > Crescent Sweep

Key points: This bar serves two purposes, to keep the warden alive and to provide group support. Bitiing Jabs can finish off low health targets quickly. Deep Slash lowers the damage done by targets. Power Slam disorients targets for a long duration. Rushed ceremony is for emergency heals. Radiant Aura increases health and stamina regen both passively and actively. Lastly, Crescent Sweep deals high AOE damage to nearby targets.

These abilities, along with the passive bonuses to blocking from the 1h+shield skill line, will make the Warden very hard to kill in one-on-one combat.

Passives:
Aedric Spear: All Passives (8 points)
Dawn's Wrath: All Passives (8 points)
Restoring Light: All except Focused Healing (6 points)
Bow: All Passives (10 points)
1H+Shield: All Passives (10 points)
Medium Armor: All Passives (11 points)
Racial(Bosmer): All Passives (9 points)

Total skill points used: 86

Note: The skill calculator links don't include the racial skills. For some reason ESOhead doesn't save them.

Doh!! I thought someone came up with a build based off the DAoC warden class.

I'm contemplating switching out empowered sweep with a different ultimate. Maybe Nova? I'm not sure.

Are you leveling this build? If so I'd be interested in how it's going.

Also, do you think the Atronach Mundus stone (magicka regen) would help?

I'm not playing yet. I was dumb and bought a preorder standard edition from a third party, so I only get 3 days of early access. :(

Atronach stone might be a good idea, especially if focusing more heavily on magicka-based dps.

I'm doing something similar.  I'm going 5 Heavy and 2 light, and going 2 handed as a secondary.  I want to be less squishy, but the 2 light help with mana regen.

I'm only 7 or 8 now. I'm thinking of starting over with Orc though.  The Heavy Armor bonus, Health Regen, extra stamina and health, and the running buff are good.

Anyone have an update on how levelling with this or a similar bow-Templar build is going? Very interested in the "Sun Warden/Scout/Warrior" type of playstyle :) Haven't really given the Templar much of a look yet.
