In Loving Memory of Ron "Olestra" Bishop - RIFT / GW1 / GW2 (1953-2018)

It is with deepest sympathies that I report that Ron "Olestra" Bishop has passed on at age 65 due to complications during a surgical procedure. His son reached out to us this morning to share the news.

Ron was well known within our Rift and Guild Wars community and lead a group of Guild Wars 1 players back to the classic. He joined our community on July 23, 2012 while we were in RIFT and made the jump with us into Guild Wars 2. Over the years he earned the rank of Caomhnoir de na Iomproidh. He will be a huge hole in the heart of Gaiscioch and will be missed greatly.

My deepest condolences go out to Ron's Family and Friends. He will be greatly missed by many of us here at Gaiscioch as well as those outside of this gaming community. I had the pleasure to have played with Ron as he revitalized interest in GW1. He was one of the most generous and helpful persons I ever had the good fortune to know. Rest in Peace Ron!

I did not know him well, but he will be missed. We game sometimes here and moments we shared was great moments within a game I played for a long time and we shared memories of the game we enjoyed with one another even tho we never experience those with one another but the memory and storyline of the game. 

Beyond such a heavy heart may your household and friends have more blessed moments and happy thoughts.

This hit me hard when I saw this. My condolences to the family. He was always a fun guy to be in discord with. I enjoyed having Ron in some of my map clear events and he was always kind and helpful with anything that was needed.  He will be greatly missed by this community and I pray for comfort for you and family as you go through this year.  Rest in peace, my friend Ron.. I will miss hearing your voice. 

So sorry to hear that Ron passed. He was a good man, cared about others, and fun to play Rift.  I will miss him.  My thoughts and prayers go out to you. Thank you so much for letting us know.

My condolences to family and friends. So often I heard Ron asking his fellow guildies how they were coming along with an adventure and how he could lend them a helping hand. He will be missed.

All my thoughts go to Ron's family! It is hard to find adequate words to express my sympathy for his loss as it must be so hard on his family, friends, and everyone that loved and knew him. Much love!

Thoughts and prayers to the family, he will be missed in the games we came to enjoy with him.

Safe journey Ron, you will be sorely missed. I'll miss our discussions about dimension furniture in RIFT.

This is a HUGE loss to our family, he was so kind and willing to help anyone at anytime. I will miss him.

He never said no when we asked him to help.  He took new people "under his wing" and helped them catch up to the rest of us.  He laughed at my worst puns.  I will miss having him around.  You could count on him to do what he said he would.  My heart goes out to his family.  Miss you, dude.
