RIFT: Moving to Full Saighdear on June 1st

Greetings Everyone,

I know a handful of you still play RIFT and want to contiune playing RIFT. I also know with it going Free-2-Play that we will likely see some more interest in the program. This is great news for those who plan to keep playing.

Over the past few months there have been several developments that have lead the Eldership to consider other options. We have had to weigh the option of whether keeping this thing running as an official Saighdear or just making it a regular Saighdear would be more benificial to our family.

With the loss of Leonar and Belonia who are actively working on closing on a house and tied up with real life we are left with insufficiant leadership in the house. At the moment the RIFT branch is managed by Seacoral, Pops, Naay and Myself. However there is nobody "In Charge" full time there. By making it a full saighdear we are able to break the ranking structure and bring people up to help manage the Saighdear room. We will actively be considering people who possess the ability and desire to lead. This however means that RIFT will be run like Neverwinter.

We will be removing the website support and giving it it's own Saighdear page effective June 1. If you are looking for a more active guild I might suggest Philanthropy (Casual), The Gauntlet (PvP) or Invicta (Raiding). The Saighdear room will become a Casual meeting spot and hangout. We will no longer be doing Guild Parses so you wont need to claim your characters. To get an invite just use the Tuatha channel. This will become a "For Fun" room just like Neverwinter.

This decision was not made lightly and was not some premeditated conspiracy. Circumstance peaked its ugly head, activity has dropped significantly to next to nothing, marketplace orders are going unfilled, and fragmentation is happening on an epic proportion. When I agreed to allow the family to continue in it's current form in RIFT I warned of what might happen. There would be a time that would come where our presence does more harm to our community than good. That time has made itself apparent. It is in our best interest as a community to discontinue support of this on an official scale and pass it off to someone that might be able to provide the leadership and direction to keep the Saighdear healthy.

I will automatically place everyone who has RIFT marked into the Saighdear. Once we find a person who wants to lead and has the standing in the family to be trusted to lead we will make an official announcement. Once they are in place they will be able to run the Saighdear as they see fit. If you have a nomination for who you think should lead please let us know. We would like someone who didn't bail when things got rough and someone who has a clear sight of the goals we are trying to achieve. They must be Saighdear rank or higher.

As a side note, Make sure to note that you played RIFT and claim your characters before June 1st. When I lock down the site you wont be able to add it to your profile after the fact. It will forever display on your profile that you were part of our RIFT community.

I did have a question about this and it relates to Neverwinter as well. I do understand that website support and such are not available but is it possible to post events on the calender for these games to let people know that you want to run something or is it something that just has to be done in game

Te really sad thing is that rift had the potential to be the top mmo ever.Nice graphics, descent lore,Pvp was fun until end game and some of the raids were just epic.I am so sad though that they never did anything to fix the FPS I have a top of the line gaming pc and was getting sad frames per second in pvp and events.Non stop issues with flickering graphics.Unrealistic time to reward ratio at end game. And pvp just sucked after max level. But So much potential. The whole Idea of rifts randomly appearing out of know where and everyone around having to join in and defeat an invasion from another plane of existence was perfect. That is something no one else at the moment is coming close to touching.I wish I had the money to buy Trion and build a new engine, and fix all the other problems to take this game to it's fullest potential. But I don't.So I wait .... impatiently playing Neverwinter every once in a while" I never like gw2's combat" and hope that Elder scrolls will surprise us all and release before anyone projects.

You can try to order it now. Marketplace orders from rift have been moving really slow. But yes the marketplace for rift goes away on june 1.

For the record, I didn't turn it off. I can't access it either. Trion has Guild Banks turned off atm to fix a problem with them. Should be turned back on when the bug is resolved. This was in no way my doing.

This thread has made things clear for me. You guys are starting to get a really bad reputation on the server. No leadership or accountability for actions in the game are the reason for it.

I sure hope you get someone to step up and lead this crew that will turn-around this trend.

It makes me sad to see this happening after all Fog did for the last two years to make Gaiscioch/Saighdear a guild with honor and respect around the community.

I just picked this up after F2P and randomly chose a server before checking what we had (being still new here as well with the start of GW2).  I am looking at moving servers (if allowed from my current to Faeblight).

Is Gaiscioch/Saighdear still active, are others now trying RIFT for the first time or rekindling the desire to give it another go?

I will move over (not being in a guild currently on Hailol or any friends here to speak of) but just didn't want to make all the effort if there wasn't much going on.  :)

Checked transfers last night and Faeblight is not on the available list (at least for Defiant)........I did hop over and make a toon on Fae but I like my warrior and his level and stuff :) .....................I will keep watching to see if and when the transfer servers and switch and start leveling the mage I have on Fae.  Once I get it up a few levels, I will reach out to someone from Gaiscioch for an invite.

Probably should hop back in Raidcall and find out if there is any talking in the RIFT channel as well.

Ddoug, I will send you an friend invite so we can maybe let each other know if anyone is online from Gaiscioch that can invite?

How goes the ESO beta?  (J/k DON"T answer that!).  There is no spoon.

Sorry Garyc the guild funds are currently being saved up for the level 25 guild dimension. We have never had the ability to use guild funds for rez sickness enabled as it would burn cash faster than we earn it.

Viktor,

Without someone there to manage reputation it is impossible to remain true to our public image. We must maintain our integrity if we have any hopes of having the close ties we foster with the game development community. Without someone there to keep order and people being true to the Gaiscioch way we have no visibility, no damage control, and if we were to pick up a new member they would have no idea how a Gaiscioch should behave. Our eldership team is there to help shape players into the Gaiscioch way.

I'm sorry but this is the way it is. Gaiscioch is my story to tell, my ship to steer, and I am doing the best I can to try to look out for as many of you as I can. I won't please everyone, but I can promise adventure around the corner if YOU choose to follow. You all know what I'm capable of, what I bring to the table. I have cared for this community for 12 years and will continue to do so. There will be trials and tribulations, we will go places that you do not wish to go, but that's the beauty of it. If you don't want to go you don't have too. Someday our paths may cross and you can continue where you left off. I do not delete member records from our site EVER. The only way they are removed is if a member requests to leave the family entirely. And even then the record sits dormant waiting for them to change their mind for 30 days before it is finally purged. Even if you we're playing other games for 10 years, when you come back 10 years from now you will resume right where you left off. The Contribution you earned in RIFT and GW2 would be usable in whatever we're playing at the time.

Bottom line: Play what makes you happy. You will know where we are. Feel free to group up with others and share adventures in places we are not going. Remember Gaiscioch is about Forging Friendships and Making Memories. Those memories and friendships are not limited to a single game. They are limited to a lifetime. It doesn't matter if your playing the game were in or not. Those memories and friendships will come with you regardless.

"It's not the loot and accolades you walk away with,
it’s the memories and friendships that you cherish forever."
