{Rogue} Stratobard variant

HI all,

Just sharing my take on a variant of the "Kailadan's Stratobard" build that can be found in the class guide forums on the official Rift site.  The link to the original thread is here.  All of the credit for this build should go to Kailadan and those that participated in that thread, as the have come up with an effective build.

My tweaked build is found here, and is based on some of the later posts in that thread.  I removed the points from street performer and stage presence and placed them in deafening music for a small dps boost.  Ultimately this is a 36/40 tactitian/bard spec.  It includes all of the great bard buffs and mob debuffs, while providing the superior healing for 10-man groups that tactician is capable of.

Healing comes from 4 sources:

Curative Remote functions a great deal like a chloromancer's radiant spores, healing for set amount each time a raid member hits the mob that has the remote on it.

Curative Core is a "focus" or "totem" that is placed on the ground and heals anyone within its rather large radius for a set amount of health per second.

Restorative Engine + Empyrean Bolt is the primary source of healing and heals everyone in the raid each time that Empyrean Bolt is used.

Curative Blast is a healing finisher found in the tactician line that heals for a good amount of health on up to 10 people.

Note: Do not use cadence or the bard finishers as they are limited to 5 players.

I use only one macro as follows:

--------------------------------------------------

#show curative remote

suppressmacrofailures

cast curative remote

cast curative core

cast battle remote

cast empyrean bolt

---------------------------------------------------

Typically before a fight I check to be sure my bard buffs are up.  As the tank pulls I hit each of my motifs (3 total).  I then begin using the builder macro until I have reached 5 combo points and hit my first debuff (typically coda of distress), use the builder for 5 more points and use curative blast, builder to 5 and the next debuff, etc.

builder x5>debuff>builder x5>heal>builder x5>debuff>builder x5>heal...rinse/repeat.

Usually I can build to 5 and heal, build to 5 and hit the debuff and still have about 5-6 seconds left on the motifs so that they refresh properly.  If they go down, be sure to take a moment and recast them, as they greatly help the raid.

I had the opportunity to use this build in the SL 10-man against Jultharin and it managed to put out some very respectable HPS numbers, surprising myself and a few others.  I don't have parses, so will refrain from throwing out numbers but this is a really potent raid healing spec.

I hope that helps anyone that might be interested in a spec like this.  Just keep in mind that this build is not designed for lots of dps, soloing, etc.  It is primarily to turn out big heal numbers in a raid environment and still provide bard utility/support as well.

Thanks!

Jevik.

Thank you for posting this, you were outhealing everyone tonight, you crazy rogue. While bard buff rotation gives us a lot of boost, this might work out better and if I can get rid of 2 specs it would give me room for another dps spec so I can be more effective in raids. much appreciated:) and I blame you for everything that is awesome! oh and number wise I had you at about 7500 hps at one point:)

Hey, I'll take the blame for that! Seriously though I'm glad to share the build. I know that Stratobard isn't a replacement for some of the 50+ abilities that bard gets like Verse of the Plains, Verse of Joy, etc. that can really boost a raid group to greater damage output. It could pair directly with bard though and provide pure healing while the bard handles debuffs/buffs/dps more exclusively. Either way, it's kind of a fun change for a rogue. As for numbers, I actually had 8400hps at the end of one fight, but typically between our various pulls the hps meter ranged from 6500-7500. I'll have to figure out how to get the output from Super Meter so I can post it here for confirmation. I hate to throw numbers around without some sort of screenshot or parse data. Also, one word on the build, it does ramp up slowly on the heals, as it takes 6-8 seconds to get the necessary points rolling before you can hit your first finisher. Once you've got that, the numbers will skyrocket though.

Hmm, it's kinda funny that you mention the ramp up part, because in 61 tact I was using restorative bolt to get points before the fight and go in with full points and everything popped, curative beam gave me a heal I could pop immediately for everyone, and move around the raid as needed. Curative remote is awesome too cause of the effect it has like radiant spores from the mage. The core is great too, the ability to switch between all of that and throw in some dps I love it. Have you heard word of what the range on cores is? because its not on the tooltip, and I have been told 20 and 30 from different people. I totally agree that a bard and a tact in raid would rock and they balance each other in the raid, adding a ton of healing and buffs you can't get from other classes. It would also make it easier on a build like this to be able to cast everything else and not worry about buffs like motifs. Although having both at the same time would take 2 raid slots, so I would only suggest it in a 20 man where you have a little cushion on your dps requirements. The heals from these new specs coming out are so good, may just give some people a chance to do something besides healing in other classes. I am not as familiar with tactician as you are, but what are the buffing abilities that tactician has, and will they stack with bard, archon, chloro and all those? we need to figure that out so we can work together as a team with all of our specs.I am gonna macro something with my bard stuff so everyone knows I am about to pop that cooldown chain, and usually try to time it with wild growth. That is a really good time to pop every ounce of dps you have into the boss and lasts I think 15 seconds.I thought I saw some sort of core that boosts dps too in tact but wasn't paying complete attention, but I need to know if it stacks. Particularly I need to know if it stacks with orchestra of the planes and wild growth. What we do now is working for the ten man but I am thinking more about the 20 man raiding we will end up in eventually. Oh and if you want the order of what I do for that chain cast, I would be happy to give it to ya. I think i will keep bard for now and pick this build up in place of the 61 tact. Anyways, those are my thoughts on the matter, but let me know what you think, excuse the wall of text please lol.
