Hello Family

I am in need of help, and this problem just started tuesday, I clicked on gw2 icon on desktop, the login window appeared and I clicked on login and then the play button lit up, I clicked on play and the login window goes away and the game window starts to appear and just flashes and minimizes to task, if I right click on icon at taskbar 3 options show up. (close window-pin to taskbar- Guildwars2) if I left click on it nothing happens. I have tried repair, and have installed it once as 32bit since that's where the file is (programs files x386) since I have windows 10 but I have upgraded my system to a 64bit  and I am right now installing the 64bit client. Anyone have any suggestions what I could be doing wrong, I do have a tech request from anet I have started this morning 8am pst.

Thanks

Ron aka CaptCaveman

I know the 64-bit has a few issues with windows 10, but I think they fixed it - A lot of my issues (lag and crashes) stopped once I did get the 64-bit client.

Hopefully, someone else will chime in soon. Good thinking, putting a ticket in. They need to know things like that.

Well after three tries and 2 tech's but that could have been because of shift change, finally got it back up and running. I am posting this first response and I have one more in the next post, sorry fog but it might help out the next person if they run into this problem

Hey Ronald,

We’d like to gather some more information about the problems you’re experiencing by having you run a program called Game Advisor on your computer. This application provides us with helpful information about your system and Internet connection.

If you’re using a router, hub, or switch, please disconnect it and connect directly to your modem before running this utility. You may have to reboot your modem and/or computer to reestablish your Internet connection. If this isn't possible due to your network setup, please run Game Advisor with the router connected as the information will still be useful.

To run Game Advisor, please perform the following steps:

  1. Download Game Advisor here: http://us.ncsoft.com/gameadvisor
  2. When prompted, save the file to your Windows "Desktop" so you can access it easily. Please save the file before running it (running it from the website can cause file issues).
  3. Double-click on the Game Advisor file and then click on the icon for the game you are having trouble with.
  4. Click "Test Computer and Connection" and wait a few minutes while the test completes.
  5. Once the test completes, a "Test Result" window will come up showing the location of the test result file. Please attach this file to a reply to this e-mail.

Once we receive the test results, we'll have a better idea of how to resolve your issue.

Hey Ronald,

The following steps have helped some other players resolve this issue. Can you please try the following and let us know if these fix your issue:

Clearing the Cache

  1. Completely close the game
  2. Go to temp folder by going to start/run, type in %temp% and hit enter
  3. Browse to the folder gw2cache-(guid). Example: “gw2cache-(50641E0B-3AD4-1601-081E-6450D43A0116)” 4.. Delete the whole gw2cache folder
  4. Restart the game and see if this resolved your issue making a purchase.

Deleting Local.Dat

  1. Start the Guild Wars 2 launcher.
  2. Uncheck "Remember Account Name."
  3. Uncheck "Remember Password."
  4. Close the launcher.
  5. Navigate to the location "C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2
  6. Locate and delete the file local.dat from this folder.
  7. Start the launcher again and attempt to log in to the game.

I've been having to delete my gw2cache (as described above) with pretty much every patch since I started using the 64 bit client.  Something a little funky there, I think.  I'm still getting disconnect errors (7:11:xxx:Xxx) a couple times a day, so I'm going to try the advice about deleting local.dat too.
