Events for Aug 3rd - 10th

I have some bad news to share:

While I was out playing at the park this morning, I over reached while trying to catch a fly ball and some how I managed to slip in the wet grass and fell.... I landed hard on my lower back. Luckily, not in the same place where I broke it last year, but I did manage to hurt myself pretty bad though. At the moment I am on pain pills, as well as muscle relaxers on top of using the TENS unit (full blast) with my back brace.. It looks funny, but helps with the pain.

I have to go in for full x-rays & a MRI in Chattanooga this week to see what, if any, damage I did to myself this time. In the meantime I was told not to sit for long periods of time (that is when the pain is the worst), so of course all of this will interfere with my events this week.

Until I know more, I have to step out of my Aoibheann's Assault on Monday night - just for this week. Good news is that Terafer will be filling in for me (because he is wonderful like that). If Jay is willing and interested, I will have him fill in for me for the Achievement Hunters on Thursday - if not I will probably have to push it back a week. I am waiting to see what the Dr says and how I feel before I pull my Friday morning WvW off the schedule, but please remember to check the schedule this week before coming out, just in case I do need an extra day to recover.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that I just bruised something and I can resume my normal events soon, and I will post here when I know more.

For now I am still patting myself on the head....

I tell ya Aoibheann, ya gotta cut back on theose xtreame sports :P. Heal up quickly we'll miss you too much :). Praying for a speedy recovery.

I am so sorry that it happened to you :(. 

Take it easy and slowly! Hopefully, like you said, it is just bruised and will heal quickly.

Honestly Aoibheann, what are we going to do with you! You are finally getting better and you play ball and fall, cheese woman, I need to move in with you so I can take care of you lol:). Please get better fast and hopefully you have not broken anything this time. Much love and hugs.

Ok, so no more playing Rugby for a while -  I have been benched while my back heals up again.

The official diagnosis is a lumbar contusion, pending an MRI. Luckily the X-rays didn't show any new breaks, but they want to wait a couple of week to do the MRI and let the swelling go down on my L-Spine (my whole lower back is one big bruise at the moment). 

Today the Dr gave me a shots of Toradol & Decadron and I will be taking a combo of steroids for 6 days along with anti-inflammatories and pain pills (at night). So I am feeling a bit better, though still not able to sit for long periods of time without discomfort. I hope to know more when I go in to see my Dr on Monday, Aug 10th.

Thanks to Terafer for filling in on Monday night for WvW, and to Jay who has agreed to take over for my Achievement Hunters event on Thursday. I am hoping that I will be able to do a short run for WvW on Friday morning and I have my fingers crossed that I will feel well enough to at least check out the HoT Beta this weekend.

Wanted to let you all know that I am going to attempt to run my event Friday morning - Aug 7th. It may be short one as I am still having difficulty sitting for long periods of time. For those of you who are interested, I will be tagging up at 8 am PDT and hope to make it for at least an hour, maybe a little longer if I take a break in the middle.

I will do my usual running commentary for training for WvW, after the event I will need a break and then can do a Q&A session in GameVox for 30 mins or so.

Hello all,

I finally made it home from a very long day at the VA. I have been up since 6 am EDT and was gone just over 10 hrs - 6+ hrs of appts and 3+ hrs of driving to and from the VA.

They poked, prodded, tested and took more x-rays (of my whole back as well as of my chest this time), but the MRI is still on hold due to the amount of bruises and swelling. So I am scheduled to go back again next Monday afternoon for that.

I was really hoping to be able to run my WvW event tonight, and I hate that this is short notice, but I know that sitting for an event is beyond my endurance at the moment.
