I was giving some thought to this and with them costing 100g.
But I have a question can the guild bank tax the guild players on loot drops?
If so I was thinking maybe in the beginning of launch to set a high tax in order to give our WvW leaders a token.
I'm sure there will be more than 1 leader. And this will help the organization a lot better and will benifit us all. Once we played for while and most of our leaders have there median, we can than lower the taxes.

Its just a suggestion. It seemed just a pain grouping and locating the leaders at time, so I'm willing to help our leaders in any way in order to make things run smoother in the mist of battles.

If you make taxes high at launch you are hurting the entire guild specially the crafters. I would not mind a medium range but high def not.

True true Toxx valid point. I'm new to the guild itself. I'm not sure how the guild tax system works and the cost. And what I meant by high tax was say normal tax was 10% and high tax 30%. In the very beginning it gone to be tough on crafters too. :-( even with no tax. So let me ask another question, how much does a gem convert to gold and how much does gems cost in real money.

The exchange rate will change based on transactions. If you google Gw2 gemstore exchange rate you will find a few threads that will explain it a little better than I can. From the best that I can tell it comes down to the laws of supply and demand and however that is applied to a game economics.

Also gems cost $50 for 4000 gems and if you converted gems to gold you got about 40 - 50 silver per 100 gems. Then again people were not converting gems to gold during beta because you would lose the gold at the end of the beta, so this affected the exchange rate.

Sorry fog didn't see your post until after I replied to Toxx. No taxes than. What you guys think about making a charity fund than. So people that want to help can even if it 1 copper. Again it just a suggestion. I think 100g is to much for commander median.

If taxes are ever implemented, we'll probably use it to help pay for upkeep and upgrade costs for WvW. It's something we did in Warhammer and taxes cost our players next to nothing and really helped our war efforts. In the meantime, players are always welcome to donate to the guild to be a good samaritan.

we don't give fellowship points for cash/monetary donations as we don't want to encourage people to "Buy" their rank.

While pretty expensive, I think we can handle the cost better than most. 200 people (I suspect we will have many more) all donating 50 Silver each seems much more manageable, and I suspect we will have more than 200 available to help donate to the cause. Fortunately, we have a good enough community here that we can don't need to enforce a Guild tax to get people to contribute their share. Also, as best I can make out, the Trading Post seems to work more like the stock market than a traditional MMO auction-house. I don't understand it myself, but there were a few times I've used it and found that I ended up with additional money refunded from my purchases (something about the market rate being higher than what I paid... I assume). A few guildies who know how to work this system could probably make some serious ingame cash towards big upgrades like this.

@vamp, man I forgot about funding keeps in warhammer haha at one point I remember charging 100% taxes in the guild I was in just to keep up.....haha those were the days! Granted refugees was a small guild and the guild had to vote on it. @dragron, I totally agree about the community. :-) Here is why I even brought this up. Granted it's what I experienced. At the end of beta 3 I had total of 21 silver at lvl 21. I average about 12 hours day of play time. Knowing it was beta I sold everything, crafting items, armor I didn't need, and so on. I did buy armor pebbles thou and some siege blueprints. Here where I get concern with the cost when the game goes live. I will not be selling every. I will breaking down all possible armor and salvage items. All. crafting material I can't use for tailor/jeweler I will be donating to guild. That in it self is a huge chunk of copper that want be seen. I imagine I,ll be lucky if I have a couple silver at lvl 20. Granted I'm sure people are going to help contribute, but most of us including myself play a more casual style when it goes live. I will be enjoying the personal story at a slower pace, smelling the roses while I take a walk to next DE :-) even to get 10 silver is going to be some time. Which is why I mention about helping the leaders obtain a commander median. I think it ridiculous they are charging 100 gold to obtain access to battle group. Not all guild will be large and most guild will have more than one leader running events. Any how I will try my best to support the guild and hopefully they will lower the cost to commander medians Side note, don't think that only people in the commander squad should only see him instead the whole map?

I also know we need to donate money in the beginning to expand the guild size as well. We played around with this in beta and were able to get to 300 pretty quick but that cost is a lot smaller. So after that we can work as a team to raise money for the commander deal. From getting a character into her low 30's in beta thanks to no wipe until this final weekend, I know that the money coming in increases by level. My character had a couple gold on her by then and would have easily had 2g at 40 even after buying that trait book which I remember seeing as 1g per the book lists on the trainer. So I know not everyone is going to level up fast and we have to take into account crafting, which isn't overly bad cost wise but has some costs, but with enough of us as expected, I do not see this being an issue though it will definitely not be an instant thing for anybody. Only bad thing I see about the cost is little guilds who may be WvW primarily won't have an easy time of getting it at all. Seems geared to larger guilds getting it first, but then again they don't want it too easy or too many commander tags will be showing up on the field confusing people. I have a feeling once this is live they probably will tweak it based on what they see. I know they will be watching things to keep the game going smoothly for some time come let alone whatever fun things they may add in the future.

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

Since I'm very new to Gaiscioch I'm still learning how internal trade and crafting works. Pardon if this is an old idea or goes counter to the Gaiscioch way. One way we can help raise cash is to have resource gathering events. Kinda like a bake sale. See what the most lucrative orders are on the trading house, build a list, fill the demand until we meet our goal or the return on our time investment is no longer worth it. The same events could also be organized specifically for our own crafters or we could simply extend the initial fundraiser events to give all excess to the dedicated crafters. Also, on use of the Commander. The limit is 50 according to a quick Google search. Will Gaiscioch be using the Commanders to help organize our own squads or to help coordinate PuG Squads? Give them a focus point? Will certain officer volunteers be designated as Commander recipients for the guild? Has any of this been considered or discussed? :)

I've found(based on Exp) people are more than willing to donate to help expand guild size and capabilities. For example in BWE 3 when everything was wiped, we had people asking almost every 20-40 mins if Fog needed money for the guild thus we got to 300 slots in i think 1.4hrs into the BWE. And even after that there were still people trying to give Fog money. I will say that people are quite willing to donate, especially if a someone asks to put it to helping the guild... for example fog said we needed 50 silver in order to expand the guild and we achieved this in a matter of minutes. I think the best way for our WvW leaders to obtain the commander median is on a daily basis just ask for any donations for the WvW funds.

Just my 2 coppers worth here: For any leaders of WvW checking this discussion out. Please just remember to keep posts about what the guild needs in the forefront here on our forums and also in world when GW2 goes live. There will be lots of folks wanting to contribute coins who might not really have an interest in ever really being in a WvW match (So they might never see something posted in a WvW portion of the forums here). I am betting that while it might take a bit to gather whatever coins are needed that our family will come through in an amazing fashion, as always. =)
