Moving this discussion to a new thread as I do not want to hijack Fog's recruitment thread for the PvP guild:

Soren and Escaflownae,

I'll keep both of you in mind. Which classes do you use for pvp? I'm currently playing a hybrid Druid and the new Dragonhunter.

As I understand, the league will use ranked arenas, which require a Dolyak pvp ranking (level 20). Maps will be limited to Legacy of the Foefire, Forest of Niflhel, Battle of Kyhlo, and Temple of the Silent Storm.

I use a burning dragonhunter trap build.

There are some changes I make depending on the style. As in I'll change it up to a more tanky soldier / medi build.

However I tend to find this build very powerful so long as I'm not focus and if I am focused the ultimate tends to be just long enough for party members to round up the focused targets.

I run a direct damage DragonHunter & Power/wells Necro (going to try Reaper at some point this coming week and see how it preforms.) Also go minion master every once in a while. Also can run a bunker guard if needed. I'm much more comfortable on my Necro :)

Escaflownae,

For PvP, you may want to look at the Marauder amulet instead of the Berserker one.  Marauder will give you some vitality.  I cannot recall if the Rune of the Flame Legion is available in PvP. I've seen Dragonhunter builds with Rune of the Pack.

Soren,

I'm also going to look at the Reaper.

I may go back to being a full GS/SS medi build for spvp it just depends. I was thinking WvW build at the time. I normally use a marauder in spvp. All this is speculatory until we see who wants to bring what and what teams we want to make.

Courage is not the absence of fear, but the strength to do what is right in the face of it.

We should start by deciding our goals as a team as this will influence the team we want to make.  I'll link the ArenaNet article on Leagues:

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-pvp-leagues/

My PvP background:

I never did any spvp in GW1.  In GW2, I started spvp in early 2014 after I decided to get a wolf finisher.  Except for two unranked arena matches with four other GSCH members, I have gone the solo q route the entire time and have reached Dragon rank.  I consider myself a casual player who does a little pvp to complete the dailies.

My interest in the pvp leagues is to experience the team competition.  I believe a realistic goal would be to reach the top tier of the intermediate division.

Build I'm trying on my ranger:

I have another guild member interested in joining us---No Walking.6349, who plays ranger, revenant, and mesmer.  He has over 3,000 pvp matches.

Nice.

I did some PvP in Gw1 and had a blast running my ritualist and assassin. My GW2 experience has been limited mostly to solo queue and tpvp when that was a thing so most wins/losses are luck of the draw on what team I was placed and I kinda fell away from the game mode (Doly currently on the verge of a rank up). I can generally hold my own as far point defender if running my necro though I prefer to be teamed with someone when on my guard so I can be a hard hitter/support player. I'm also just casual as far as my play time goes.

Looks like this idea is getting pretty active. I've been playing with my guard alot. They are fairly strong but nothing amazing like a ele, necro, or mes. I'm still trying to work my new build a bit more it's a DH with Sword\F .. seems to be fairly strong right now however I bet I can make a bit better.

I don't have many games in pvp in gw2 but in gw1 I played alot. Main thing I see here is there is a significate reduction in melee to range KD and snares as there was in gw1. Still trying to get around that.

We should make a pvp team and start to play a bit i've been pvp'in everynight so far with another guild but it'd be fun to do it with you all.

I normally pull about 10% of the kills in spvp right now I'm still working on skill in gw2 though so it will come with time.

I'm not really interested in joining a team, I'm already spread too thin as it is and don't want to take on another "schedule", but I wouldn't mind some random giggles.

Dang i love this new build I have.. has the deeps and the tanks.. so far it's fitting my style a bit more. Not so much an assaulter but a good point defense / mini assaulter.. gottin a few 3v1's and many 2v1's ... win most 1v1's

Escaflownae,

We should definitely start grouping up to prepare for the start of the league.  I'm still working to find a fifth member for the team.

Sekkerhund,

We will likely need replacements during the course of the league season, so will certainly welcome you even if it is only for one or two matches.  What classes do you play?

I'm thinking about working on a necro for the FOTM. However I'm enjoying my DH still. Might be nice to have a few backup specs.

Some very good matches in today's Europe ESL Go4GuildWars2 Monthly Final

http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/v/25250299

Exciting finish between 55 Dragons and The Civilized Gentlemen in Game 1, which starts at the 1 hour, 10 minute mark in the above video.

http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/v/25267847

In the second match between Orange Logo and The Civilized Gentlemen, Rom playing a Staff/Greatsword Druid solos and kills the lord on the Foefire map.  Match starts at 1 hr 07 minute mark.

Some interesting rune and amulet choices by the participants.  For his Druid build, Rom ran with Rune of Durability and a Crusader amulet.  Tage who normally plays Guardian switched to a Revenant using a mace/axe  and a Viper's amulet (1050 Power, 560 Precision, 1050 Condi damage, and 560 Expertise).

JayRF,

Yes, by all means please join us for the pvp league.

We are still awaiting for ArenaNet to provide more details on how the league will be run.  Will it be strictly teams or will there be a option for solo players to compete against other solo players? Will there be a limit on the number of games a team can play during the season?

Still looking for players interested in representing the guild in the upcoming league starting December 1.  We are looking at playing matches at 10:00pm PST on Thursdays and Sundays for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.  Because the league will use Ranked arena maps, players must be at least pvp rank 20  (ArenaNet's requirement).
